A method of sanitizing liquid for use in a medical device, the method comprising the steps of providing a medical device defining a water circuit with a volume of liquid, sensing the temperature of the volume of liquid with a sensor, heating the volume of liquid from an initial temperature to exceed a threshold temperature, maintaining the volume of liquid above the threshold temperature, determining a time-temperature value for the volume of liquid periodically once the threshold temperature has been exceeded, calculating a cumulative time-temperature value and providing an output signal once the cumulative time-temperature value has reached a level indicative of a sanitizing dose. A medical device and a liquid sanitizer are also disclosed.

Method of heat sanitization of a haemodialysis water circuit using a calculated dose

A disposable cartridge for use in a hemodialysis machine has a blood flow path for carrying a volume of blood to be treated in a dialyser and a dialysate flow path, isolated from the blood flow path, for delivering a flow of dialysate solution through the dialyser. The cartridge is received in an engine section of the machine. The engine section has first and second platens which close when the cartridge is inserted to retain the cartridge. Actuators and sensors arranged on the second platen control operation of the cartridge.

Dialysis machine

A hemodialysis machine including a cartridge which defines a fluid pathway for delivering a dialysate solution base to a mixing pump, a main body having a platen which, in use, abuts the cartridge, the cartridge having a chassis with a platen side covered by a deformable membrane which, in use, abuts the platen, the chassis and membrane defining the flow path, the flow path including a dialysate base solution pump chamber, the platen having a dialysate base solution pump cavity which, collectively with the dialysate base solution pump chamber, forms a dialysate base solution pump for pumping dialysate base solution to the mixing pump by actuation of the membrane, wherein the volume of the dialysate base solution pump cavity is variable so as to allow a variation in the volume of dialysate base solution pumped from the dialysate base solution pump chamber to the mixing pump chamber on each stroke of the solution pump.

A machine is provided with a slot to releasably receive and retain a cartridge in which dialysis is effected. The machine is configured for supplying to the cartridge, at a controlled temperature and rate, sterile water for use in haemodialysis and is operable to maintain, in a sterile condition, residual water contained therein after completion of a haemodialysis treatment.

Fluid processing apparatus

A post-mix beverage valve provides for automatic, accurate beverage ratioing. A valve body can be assembled, and includes a water flow hard body, syrup body and common nozzle body. The water and syrup flow bodies define flow channels and include one end for connection to water and syrup respectively, and opposite ends for fluid connection to the nozzle body. The water flow channel includes a turbine flow sensor connected to a micro-controller determining the water flow rate. The syrup flow channel includes a flow sensor, two MEMS pressure sensors, monitoring the syrup. The sensors are connected to the micro-controller and positioned about an orifice and senses sense a differential pressure indicative of syrup flow rate solenoid regulates flow of syrup through the syrup body. A stepper motor on the water body controls a rod in the flow channel in conjunction with a V-groove.

Valve for dispensing two liquids at a predetermined ratio

The present invention comprises a valve providing for the dispensing of two liquids at a desired ratio. The valve includes first and second liquid flow body assemblies releasably securable to a nozzle body assembly. Each liquid flow body assembly is securable to a source of liquid and includes flow sensing means and flow regulating means. A control receives inputs from the flow sensing means and regulates the operation of the flow regulating means to provide for the dispensing of the two liquids from the nozzle body assembly at a predetermined ratio.

Ratio controlled post-mix valve

A mixing valve is shown for mixing a concentrate fluid with a diluent fluid in a desired ratio. A single actuator is used to open and close both the diluent and concentrate flows by operation of a shaft. A diaphragm extends around the shaft and defines fluidly separate upper and lower chambers within a valve body. Inlets to the upper and lower chambers are connected to sources of the concentrate and diluent, respectively. The upper and lower chambers each have outlets fluidly connected to a mixing and dispensing nozzle. The actuator moves the shaft from a fully extended closed position to an intermediate t retracted open position to open the lower chamber outlet to the mixing nozzle to initiate diluent flow. The actuator is then moved to a fully retracted position and then reciprocated between the fully retracted and intermediate retracted position whereby the diaphragm serves to pump the concentrate from the upper chamber to the mixing nozzle. Non-return valves are placed in the inlet and outlet of the upper chamber. The non-return valves allow the concentrate to flow only from the source thereof to the mixing nozzle during the pumping thereof. Flow sensors are placed in each of the concentrate and diluent flows and are connected to an electronic control. The control provides for determining total combined dispensed volume of the diluent and concentrate and stopping dispensing at desired predetermined total volumes.

Beverage cooler

A post mix beverage dispense apparatus has a mixing head arranged to receive different combinations of a concentrate and a diluent for dispensing any selected one of a range of beverages. The concentrates are delivered to the head in dedicated flow lines under the control of respective valves actuated via a control board in response to user selection of a desired beverage at a control panel The diluent is delivered to the head in a flow line under the control of a changeover valve for selectively correcting sources of different diluents to the flow line via the control board in response to user selection of the desired beverage at the control panel The changeover valve is positioned close to the mixing head to minimise the volume of diluent remaining between the valve and the head after dispense. In a preferred arrangement, a control valve is provided between the changeover valve and the head for providing a metered flow of diluent.
