A swimming pool is formed of a plurality of multi-wall sections, each multi-wall section comprises a preformed plastic or resin and has an inner wall and an outer wall, with the inner wall and the outer separated to define an air space therebetween. The assembled pool walls are spaced a width w at a base of the swimming pool and taper to a width y at an intermediate height of the swimming pool between the base and a top of the swimming pool, wherein w&gt;y. At the top of the swimming pool, the walls are separated a width x, wherein x&gt;y. The swimming pool comprises an all plastic or resin construction, and may either be employed as an above-ground pool or an in-ground pool.
