A system and method is disclosed for displaying a procedure to an aircrew member of an aircraft. The system includes, but is not limited to, a moving map display, a position detecting unit, a flight management system, an electronic storage unit for storing navigation procedures associated with geographic locations, and a processor coupled with the moving map display, the position detecting unit, the flight management system, and the electronic storage unit. The processor is configured to receive a current location of the aircraft from the position determining unit and a flight path from the flight management system, to retrieve a navigation procedure from the electronic storage unit corresponding to the current location and the flight path of the aircraft, and to command the moving map display to display a graphic depiction of the flight path.

System and method for displaying a procedure to an aircrew member

An electric taxi system (ETS) for an aircraft may include a ground speed sensor, a speed selection unit and a speed computer coupled to the ground speed sensor and to the speed selection unit. The speed computer may produce a speed error signal. A motor controller coupled to a wheel motor may control speed of the wheel motor responsively to the speed error signal.

Electric taxi system with speed control (ETSSC)

A system and method are provided for highlighting and selecting one of a plurality of graphical IFR procedure depiction on an aircraft display. A displayed legend includes a plurality of textual procedure identifications, one each for each of the graphical IFR procedure depictions. Movement of a cursor over either a graphical IFR procedure depiction or a textual procedure identification highlights both, and selection thereof removes all other graphical IFR procedure depictions and textual procedure identifications from being displayed.

Methods and systems for selecting a displayed aircraft approach or departure

Methods and systems are provided for presenting information on a display device associated with an aircraft. An exemplary method involves displaying a navigational map on the display device, obtaining status information for the aircraft, determining an amount of procedure information to be displayed based at least in part on the status information, and displaying the determined amount of aircraft procedure information on the display device overlying the navigational map. The procedure information prescribes operation of the aircraft during execution of an aircraft procedure.

Methods and systems for displaying procedure information on an aircraft display

A pilot interface panel may comprise at least one input mechanism configured to receive at least one user input, generate at least one input signal corresponding to the at least one user input, and send the at least one input signal to a controller. The controller may be configured to control movement of an electric taxi system of an aircraft in a manner according to the at least one input signal, wherein the electric taxi system may be configured to rotate at least one wheel of the aircraft by force from a purely electromotive source. The pilot interface panel may further comprise at least one safety mechanism, which may be configured to prevent at least one of the at least one input mechanisms from receiving an inadvertent user input resulting from an unintended action by the user.

Pilot interface for aircraft electric taxi system

A high-integrity auto-guidance and control method for use in conjunction with an aircraft electric taxi drive system comprises obtaining taxi path data generating in a plurality of processors taxi path guidance and control information from the taxi path guidance data, and sending commands derived from the taxi path guidance and control information from one of the plurality of processors based on a predetermined priority scheme to at least one electric taxi controller.

High integrity, surface guidance system for aircraft electric taxi

A taxi guidance system is provided for an aircraft having a primary thrust engine and an onboard electric taxi system. The taxi guidance system includes or cooperates with a source of aircraft status data for the aircraft, and a source of airport feature data associated with synthetic graphical representations of an airport field. The taxi guidance system includes a processor operatively coupled to the source of aircraft status data and to the source of airport feature data to generate, in response to at least the aircraft status data and the airport feature data, taxi path guidance information for the aircraft, start/stop guidance information associated with operation of the primary thrust engine, and speed guidance information for the onboard electric taxi system. The processor generates image rendering display commands that can be received by a display system to render a dynamic synthetic representation of the airport field that includes graphical indicia of the taxi path guidance information, the start/stop guidance information, and the speed guidance information.

Electric taxi system guidance

An auto-guidance and control method and system are provided for use in conjunction with an aircraft electric taxi system, wherein electric taxi guidance may be performed in a manual mode by a crew or in an auto-mode by an auto-guidance and control system. First, aircraft status data and airport feature data are accessed. A processor, in response to at least the aircraft status data and the airport feature data, generates taxi guidance information and renders the taxi guidance information on a display. A guidance route is manually navigated utilizing guidance information on the display in the manual mode. In the auto mode, taxi-path commands, generated by the processor, are applied to taxi path guidance controllers in the auto-mode.

Electric taxi auto-guidance and control system

A taxi method for an aircraft having a primary thrust engine taxi system and an electric taxi system is provided. The method involves obtaining aircraft and airport status data and generating therefrom taxi drive information indicative of the relative cost of taxiing the aircraft along a predetermined route using the electric taxi system versus the aircraft engine taxi system. The taxi drive index information is presented to a user.

System and method for generating and displaying an electric taxi index

An auto-guidance and control method and system is provided for use in conjunction with an aircraft electric taxi system. Aircraft status data is obtained, and airport feature data accessed. A processor generates taxi path guidance and control information including at least taxi speed guidance information, and sends commands derived from the taxi speed guidance information by the processor directly to an electric taxi controller to regulate the taxi speed of the aircraft.

An apparatus for providing weather information onboard an aircraft includes a processor unit and a graphical user interface. The processor unit processes weather information after it is received onboard the aircraft from a ground-based source, and the graphical user interface provides a graphical presentation of the weather information to a user onboard the aircraft. Preferably, the graphical user interface includes one or more user-selectable options for graphically displaying at least one of convection information, turbulence information, icing information, weather satellite information, SIGMET information, significant weather prognosis information, and winds aloft information.
