An automated external defibrillator (AED) and AED Monitoring system made up of an AED, the AED having a self-diagnostic subroutine and performing said subroutine at regular intervals, the AED having at least an audio indicator that indicates the results of the self-diagnostic when the diagnosis is that the AED is in need of maintenance and a remote AED monitoring system, the AED monitoring system having an electromagnetic coil, microphone, battery, microprocessor, and wireless communication device, wherein the microprocessor selectively powers up the AED monitoring system prior to the AED's self-diagnostic subroutine and utilizes the electromagnetic coil and microphone to monitor for the AED's audio indicator that the AED is in need of maintenance, and the microprocessor transmitting a wireless signal through the wireless communication device indicating whether the AED is in need of maintenance; the microprocessor selectively powering down the AED monitoring system after transmitting the wireless signal.

A storage assembly houses a defibrillator and enables would-be users to quickly (1) identify the defibrillator location and (2) carry the housed defibrillator to a user site. The storage assembly comprises a cover structure, a mounting assembly, and a defibrillator-restraining assembly. The cover structure comprises an open back, a closed front, a cover wall extending from the front to the back, a heart-shaped transverse cross-section. The cover wall spaces the front from the back and has a transverse periphery thereby defining a space sufficient to receive and house the defibrillator. The mounting assembly removably mounts the cover structure to a support wall, and the defibrillator-restraining assembly removably restrains the defibrillator as received within the cover structure. The cover structure may be nested with at least one additional cover structure for reducing space necessary for storage and the like. An optional alarm may be outfitted with the assembly.

Defibrillators storage and carrying device

The present disclosure relates generally to a permanent magnet, brushless motor comprising a primary rotor having alternating magnetic poles around a circumference, a secondary rotor similar to the primary rotor. The primary rotor may be free to rotate by approximately plus or minus one pole of the secondary rotor. As such, when the two rotor components have opposite polarities aligned, the motor may be in a field weakened state. Generally, the field weakened state may be the normal state of the motor. As a significant load is encountered, the rotors may automatically transition to a non-weakened state wherein similar polarities are aligned on the rotors. A permanent magnet, brushless motor as described herein may be employed at a motor level or integrated into a linear actuator, wherein the rotor of the permanent magnet, brushless motor may include a hollow shaft.

Permanent magnet motor or actuator with field weakening capability

A friction stir weld apparatus having a linear drive actuator and a separate friction stir weld device. The linear actuator and the friction stir weld device are driven by concentric motors. In the preferred embodiment, the thrust member of the actuator is connected to the friction stir weld device within or adjacent to the friction stir weld device motor to advance and retract the friction stir weld device along a linear axis concentric with the actuator and friction stir weld device motors.

Electric actuator

A linear actuator is provided with an integral permanent magnet, brushless motor capable of axial, self adjustment of the rotor position within the stator for field weakening. Axial displacement of the rotor within the stator allows for significantly improved speed performance from aligned rotor/stator components during light axial loading. Upon contact with a load, the screw and nut, as an integral part of the motor rotor, self align to fully engage within the stator for generation of high forces with minimal current. This axial shift can further be used as a high precision, low cost measure of the force applied for quality assurance purposes.

One embodiment of the present invention comprises an actuating mechanism for a turbine comprising a compliant member (meaning at least one compliant member) comprising a series of serpentine folds forming a plurality of fold sections and a central cavity (meaning at least one central cavity) interposed between the adjacent fold sections wherein the compliant member is movable between a first retracted position and a second extended position upon introduction of a pressurized medium into the central cavity and dispersion of the pressurized medium within the serpentine folds.

Actuating mechanism for a turbine and method of retrofitting

An adaptable, servo-control system for force/position actuation generally includes an electric linear actuator and a controller. The controller interfaces with the electric linear actuator and with a number of I/O signals that are independent from the electric linear actuator. The controller interface to the independent I/O signals is transparent to the manner in which the I/O signals are produced. Rather the controller simply looks for the status of the I/O that is preferably received into the controller by hard-wiring or field bus I/O messaging such as from a industrial robot or programmable logic controller. The controller utilizes the I/O signals to select a number of parameters to generate a motion profile for closed loop-controlled, position actuation or force actuation of the electric linear actuator. The adaptable servo-control system is particularly suited to resistance weld systems wherein the electric linear actuator can replace the pneumatic actuator providing position and force actuation of the weld tip of the welding gun.

Adaptable servo-control system for force/position actuation

A precision servo control system for a pneumatic actuator has a piston positionable over a stroke of the pneumatic actuator using a supply of pressurized gas. A brake and a sensor system are connected to the actuator and to the servo control system. The servo control system operates to initiate the forward thrust from the pressurized gas to move the piston along the stroke. When a braking point along the stroke is determined, the servo control system initiates a reverse thrust from the pressurized gas while maintaining the forward thrust and simultaneously begins to selectively apply the brake to stop the piston within a predetermined tolerance of a desired stopping position.

Precision servo control system for a pneumatic actuator

A precision servo control system for a pneumatic actuator has a piston positionable over a stroke of the pneumatic actuator using a supply of pressurized gas. A brake and a sensor system are connected to the actuator and to the servo control system. The servo control system operates to initiate the forward thrust from the pressurized gas to move the piston along the stroke. When a braking point along the stroke is determined, the servo control system initiates a reverse thrust from the pressurized gas while maintaining the forward thrust and simultaneously begins to selectively apply the brake to stop the piston within a predetermined tolerance of a desired stopping position. The precision servo control system is easily programmable in a manner similar to that of a control system for electrical actuators. The precision servo control system can maintain the predetermined tolerance even under changing loads, long stroke lengths or vertically oriented stroke directions. The precision control servo system preferably utilizes simple directional valves, instead of complex and expensive servo valves, to regulate the pressurized gas. The precision servo control system achieves positional accuracy to a predetermined tolerance that is a fixed value, regardless of the stroke length.

A multiple diaphragm actuator for exerting linear forces of precise and repeatable amounts in opposite directions with no friction and no fluid leakage.
