A hand-held molecular diagnostic test device includes a housing, an amplification (or PCR) module, and a detection module. The amplification module is configured to receive an input sample, and defines a reaction volume. The amplification module includes a heater such that the amplification module can perform a polymerase chain reaction (PCR) on the input sample. The detection module is configured to receive an output from the amplification module and a reagent formulated to produce a signal that indicates a presence of a target amplicon within the input sample. The amplification module and the detection module are integrated within the housing.

Devices and methods for molecular diagnostic testing

A system for providing communication and control for a Light Electric Vehicle (LEV) over a power line is provided. The system includes a microprocessor, an interface, a heater controller, a data coupler, and an external connector interface. The interface is configured to communicate with a control system of the LEV. The heater controller is configured to control a battery heater of the LEV. The data coupler is configured to couple a data communication channel onto the power line. The external connector interface is configured to exchange vehicle data with a charging structure associated with the LEV via the data communication channel over the power line when the LEV is plugged into the charging structure.

Disclosed herein are methods and devices for preparing a sample of nucleic acid molecules from a biological sample. The methods and devices may perform similarly to or better than standard sample preparation methods. The nucleic acid molecules prepared using the methods and devices provided herein may be utilized for downstream applications, including polymerase chain reaction (PCR).

A universal charging system is disclosed. In one example embodiment, the universal charging system includes a charging adapter configured to be mounted on a light electric vehicle (LEV), a charging station, and a processor configured to control charging of the LEV. The charging adapter may have electrical contacts for docking with a charging station and a charging interface for supplying power from the charging station to a battery of the LEV. The charging station may have at least one docking unit for receiving the charging adapter of the LEV. A universal charging system is provided. In one example embodiment, the universal charging system includes a charging adapter configured to be mounted on a light electric vehicle (LEV), a charging station, and a processor configured to control charging of the LEV. A method includes conveying a detection solution containing a target amplicon into a detection module of a molecular diagnostic test device. The detection module includes a detection surface including a series of capture probes to which a first portion of the target amplicon is bound when the detection solution is conveyed. A first reagent formulated to produce a visible signal indicating a presence of the target amplicon is then conveyed into the detection module. The first reagent is bound to a second portion of the target amplicon when the first reagent is conveyed. A second reagent is conveyed into the detection module. The second reagent includes a precipitating substrate formulated to catalyze the production of the visible signal by producing an insoluble colored product when the second reagent is in contact with the first reagent. The method includes viewing the visible signal via a transparent portion of the detection module.

Devices and methods for the detection of molecules using a flow cell

Cartridges for the isolation of a biological sample and downstream biological assays on the sample are provided, as are methods for using such cartridges. In one embodiment, a nucleic acid sample is isolated from a biological sample and the nucleic acid sample is amplified, for example by the polymerase chain reaction. The cartridges provided herein can also be used for the isolation of non-nucleic acid samples, for example proteins, and to perform downstream reactions on the proteins, for example, binding assays. Methods and systems are described for operating an interconnected network of autonomous battery powered electric vehicle (BEV) charging stations that maintain fully charged BEVs, for real-time self-guided exchange or rental with little down-time to a user. By locking or otherwise disabling low charge or uncharged vehicles until the vehicle charging is complete, users are assured they are getting a vehicle that has enough charge to get them to their destination. Methods are disclosed for performing a bioassay, comprising activating capsules containing a signal precursor that is hydrolysable from a latent form in which substantially no signal is generated to a form in which it is able to generate a detectable signal, said activating comprising treating said capsules with heat and with an acid or a base catalyzing solution, the combination of said heat and the pH of the catalyzing solution being such as to hydrolyze said precursor to the form in which it is able to generate a detectable signal.
