A cascade thrust reverser assembly for a gas turbine engine includes a nacelle assembly defining a bypass passage. The cascade thrust reverser assembly includes a cascade assembly configured to be at least partially enclosed by the nacelle assembly, the cascade assembly comprising one or more cascade members, the one or more cascade members movable between a stowed configuration wherein the one or more cascade members define a first radial extent and a deployed configuration wherein the one or more cascade members define a second radial extent, wherein the one or more cascade members form a cascade segment in the deployed configuration, and wherein the second radial extent is greater than the first radial extent.

Cascade thrust reverser assembly for a gas turbine engine

A thrust reverser assembly and a method of operating an aircraft during a taxi mode of operation are provided. The thrust reverser assembly includes one or more actuator assemblies configured to modulate a position of a moveable portion over a continuous range of travel between a fully stowed position and a fully deployed position, such that an air flow through said thrust reverser bleed passage is correspondingly varied. The thrust reverser assembly also includes a throttle device that includes a first, ground idle power level position and a second, forward thrust mode position. Movement into the second position may be actuated separately and differently from movement into the first position. An actuator intermediate lock may inhibit actuation of the intermediate forward thrust mode of operation until a plurality of preconditions is met.

System and method of operating a ducted fan propulsion system during aircraft taxi

Thrust reverser assemblies and a method of operating an aircraft during a landing approach mode of operation are provided. The thrust reverser assembly includes a moveable portion that is moveable over a continuous range of travel between a fully stowed position and a fully deployed position. Movement away from the fully stowed position opens a bleed passage. An actuator assembly coupled to the moveable portion is operable in an intermediate forward thrust mode to modulate a position of the moveable portion along the continuous range of travel, such that an air flow through the bleed passage is correspondingly varied. A throttle device includes a first position associated with deployment of, and a second position associated with engagement of, the intermediate forward thrust mode of operation. A drag flap assembly may extend from the bleed passage during the intermediate forward thrust mode of operation.

A turbofan exhaust nozzle includes: a conical inner shell disposed coaxially inside a surrounding outer shell to define an annular flow duct therebetween terminating in an outlet at a trailing edge of the outer shell and the inner shell terminates in a trailing edge aft of the outlet; and a pylon interrupting circumferentially the duct, wherein at least a portion of the trailing edge of the outer shell is vertically non-coplanar.

A gas turbine engine exhaust nozzle includes a row of laterally sinuous chevrons extending from an aft end of an exhaust duct. The chevrons have radially outer and inner surfaces bound by a laterally sinuous trailing edge extending between a base of the chevrons adjoining the duct and an axially opposite apex of the chevrons. Each chevron has a compound arcuate contour both axially and laterally, and the sinuous trailing edge of the chevrons further compounds the arcuate configuration of each chevron.
