A propulsion system for an aircraft includes a propulsor; a turbomachine mechanically coupled to the propulsor for driving the propulsor during a combustion operating mode of the propulsion system and mechanically decoupled from the propulsor during an electric operating mode of the propulsion system; and an electrical power source. The propulsion system further includes an electric machine, the electric machine being electrically coupled to the electrical power source and mechanically coupled to the propulsor during the electric operating mode of the propulsion system such that the electric machine drives the propulsor during the electric operating mode of the propulsion system.

Hybrid electric propulsion system for an aircraft

A thrust reverser assembly for a turbine engine can include a core engine surrounded by a nacelle. A bypass duct can be formed in the space between the core engine and the nacelle. A blocker door can be movable to a deployed position extending into the bypass duct. A stop can be provided on the core engine to abut and support force applied to the deployed blocker door. The stop can have an airfoil shape.

Turbine engine thrust reverser stop

A method for optimizing the efficiency of an exhaust system of a turbomachine, such as the nacelle of a gas jet turbine engine. The method includes the steps of selecting a plurality of turbomachine exhaust system parameters for comparative analysis, varying at least some of the parameters to define a plurality of discrete exhaust system configurations, and converting the plurality of exhaust system configurations to corresponding solid model forms. Corresponding geometric meshes are generated from the solid models, and CFD is carried out on each of the meshes to generate exhaust system performance data for each of the plurality of exhaust system configurations. The performance data is processed to provide comparisons of the exhaust system efficiency of each of the plurality of exhaust system configurations.
