A closure is provided for use in covering an opening in a container and engaging a peripheral rim defining the opening. The closure includes a body for covering the container opening and a plurality of projecting portions that extend from a periphery of the body. The projecting portions are spaced from one another around the periphery of the body, with each formed to surround a portion of the container rim. A ring is connected to the projecting portions and surrounds the container rim. A plurality of retaining fingers are provided, with each fingers spaced from one another and interleaved within the spacing between adjacent projecting portions. The fingers project inwardly from the ring and include a projected end for engagement with the container rim. The projected ends of the fingers include a varied or undulating surface.

Closure for container

A dispenser is provided for a flowable product and is defined by a container body forming a storage chamber. A discharge tube is provided with an inlet positioned adjacent a bottom end of the storage chamber and an outlet positioned adjacent a discharge opening in the container. A sealing member is rotatably secured to the bottom end of the container body and includes a defined first position and defined second position. A closing member is positioned at the inlet end of the discharge tube when the sealing member is in the defined first position. Rotation of the sealing member from the first position to the second position moves the closing member away from the inlet opening and exposes the inlet to product within the storage chamber for selective discharge through the discharge tube outlet and the discharge opening.

Container overcap

An overcap is provided for use in sealing a container of the type having an outer rim, an inside wall surface, and an inner rim spaced inwardly from the inside wall surface, with the inner rim forming a container opening. A flexing portion is formed within the body portion of the overcap and is moveable between a first sealing position and a second sealing position. The flexing portion includes a downwardly depending wall member positioned adjacent the inside wall surface of the container in the first sealing position. A sealing plug is provided and is moveable between the first sealing position and the second sealing position. The sealing plug includes a peripheral surface dimension for frictional engagement with the inner rim, releasably closing of the opening in the second sealing position. The sealing plug is separated from the inner rim in the first sealing position.

Sealing overcap for a container

An overcap is provided for removably covering an access opening into the interior of a container. The opening in the container defines a peripheral rim and includes an outwardly projecting bead for releasably retaining the overcap. The overcap is defined by a body portion formed to cover the opening of the container and a depending skirt. The skirt extends from the bottom surface of the body portion for a distance sufficient to cover the projecting bead of the container rim. An inwardly directed retaining ring is formed on an inside surface of the skirt for engagement with the projecting bead on the container. A vent is formed within the retaining ring to define a flow path past the retaining ring. The vent may be a spacing rib formed on the inside surface of the skirt with one or more flow channels formed within the retaining ring.

Overcap for a container

Dispenser for web material

An overcap is provided and forms a closure for at least a portion of an access opening on the container. A stand-off rim is formed on the upper surface of the overcap adjacent the peripheral edge. The overcap includes a closure body. A sealing flap is pivotally attached to the closure body and movable between a first position for covering the container access opening and a second position for exposing the access opening. A projection is positioned adjacent the stand-off rim on the closure body and defines a receiving gap for receipt and frictional engagement of the stand-off rim on the sealing flap in the open position. The frictional engagement of the sealing flap releasably retaining the sealing flap in the open second position.

A lid is defined for removably attaching to a hollow container body. The container is contemplated to be of the type having an opening thereon defined by a projecting rim. A bead may be formed on the rim projecting transverse to the direction of the rim projection. The lid includes a body for covering at least a portion of the container opening and a skirt depending from the body portion. The skirt is formed to engage the rim to removably secure the lid on the opening. One or more set of ridges is formed on the inner surface of the skirt at defined locations. The ridges are positioned substantially transverse to the bead and frictionally engaging the bead for securing the lid on the container opening. One or more retention tabs may also be provided on the inside surface of the skirt for engaging the underside of the bead on the rim. The bead of the container rim may also include a corresponding number of set of rim ridges, wherein the skirt ridge sets are positioned at locations for engaging with the sets of rim ridges.

Removable lid for a container

A lid is provided for engagement with a projecting rim of an opening on a container. The lid includes a covering panel for closing the container opening and a skirt formed on a periphery of the cover and depending therefrom. The skirt overlaps with the container rim when the cover is positioned over the opening. The skirt includes a defined gap therein that is positioned between adjacent gap edges. A clasp is provided on the periphery of the cover adjacent the defined gap. The clasp pivots between an open position and an engaged position. In the engaged position, the clasp engages the gap edges and draws the edges toward one another. The drawing of the gap edges moves the skirt inwardly towards the container rim. The lid may further include a flexing portion defining a connection between the cover panel and the skirt. The engagement of the clasp on the skirt causes compliance of the flexing portion and a corresponding axial movement of the skirt relative to the cover panel.

Sealing lid for a container

A dispenser is provided for delivering a controlled quantity of a granular material. The dispenser includes a reservoir that retains granular material. The reservoir is supported in the dispenser with a passageway defined between opposing ends. A nozzle is provided for the outflow of material from the reservoir to a metering cup. A control plug is provided within the metering cup to adjust the controlled volume to be received within the cup from the reservoir. Once the metering cup is filled, the dispenser is inverted and the volume of material is directed from the cup, through the passageway and out of an opening adjacent a diffuser. The control plug is removable from the cup to vary the charge of material to be dispensed.

Adjustable metered material dispenser

A method is provided for dispensing a controlled quantity of a granular material. The method employs a dispenser including a reservoir that retains granular material. The reservoir is supported in the dispenser with a passageway defined between opposing ends. The dispenser is first positioned in a loading orientation for the outflow of material from the reservoir through a nozzle to a metering cup. A baffle positioned proximate the opening of the metering cup stabilizes the controlled volume directed into the cup from the reservoir. Once the metering cup is filled, the dispenser is inverted. Then, the volume of material is directed from the cup through the passageway and out of an opening adjacent a diffuser, through which the material is spread.

Method of dispensing a metered amount of granular material

An overcap is provided for fitting over a top end of a container of the type having a top end closure including an inner rim defining an opening for access to the inside of the container. The overcap includes a body portion having an outer peripheral flange for attachment to the top end closure. The overcap further includes a downwardly depending flange adapted to engage the inner rim of the top end closure with a friction fit. The downwardly depending flange includes a vent that is active during engagement of the flange with the inner rim, prior to forming the friction fit between the flange and the rim.

Resealing overcap for a container

A dispenser is provided for delivering a controlled quantity of a granular material. The dispenser includes a reservoir that retains granular material. The reservoir is supported in the dispenser with a passageway defined between opposing ends. A nozzle is provided for the outflow of material from the reservoir to a metering cup. A baffle is provided within the metering cup to stabilize the controlled volume directed into the cup from the reservoir. Once the metering cup is filled, the dispenser is inverted and the volume of material is directed from the cup, through the passageway and out of an opening adjacent a diffuser.
