Various embodiments described herein relate to generating and/or employing an expected next prompt to reduce response time for a voice system. In this regard, a candidate audio signal is generated for a predicted prompt to be presented via a user audio device. Additionally, in response to audio response data provided by the user audio device, the predicted prompt is compared to a prompt associated with the audio response data. In response to a determination that the predicted prompt matches the prompt, the candidate audio signal is presented via the user audio device.

A workflow management system for managing the storage, retrieval, and transport of items in a warehouse includes a voice-directed mobile terminal. The system also includes a server computer in communication with the voice-directed mobile terminal. The server computer includes a tasking module for transmitting task data to the voice-directed mobile terminal. The server computer also includes a workflow-analysis module for generating, based at least in part upon an analysis of workflow dialog between the voice-directed mobile terminal and the user, performance data relating to the performance of tasks associated with the storage, retrieval, and/or transport of the items.

A speech recognition system used in a workflow receives and analyzes speech input to recognize and accept a user's response to a task. Under certain conditions, a user's response might be expected. In these situations, the expected response may modify the behavior of the speech recognition system to improve recognition accuracy. For example, if the hypothesis of a user's response matches the expected response then there is a high probability that the user's response was recognized correctly. An expected response may include expected words and wildcard words. Wildcard words represent any recognized word in a user's response. By including wildcard words in the expected response, the speech recognition system may make modifications based on a wide range of user responses.

A communication component modifies production of an audio waveform at determined modification segments to thereby mitigate the effects of a delay in processing and/or receiving a subsequent audio waveform. The modification segments show where the production of the audio waveform may be modified without substantially affecting the clarity of the sound or audio. Methods and systems for identifying errors in a speech recognition system

A system and method for supplying power to a headset, and for transmitting multiple signals generated in the headset to a terminal using frequency division multiplexing. An audio signal and a carrier signal are generated in the terminal and summed together to form a composite uplink signal. The composite uplink signal is provided to a headset over a first physical channel. At the headset, the audio and carrier signals are separated, and the carrier signal is used to generate power in the headset. Signals generated by a plurality of acoustic sensors in the headset are combined using frequency division multiplexing to generate a composite downlink signal, which is transmitted to the terminal over a second physical channel. One or more carrier signals used to generate the composite downlink signal are provided by either a carrier source in the headset, or by recovering the carrier signal from the composite uplink signal.

Probabilities of speech or transient noise event, or other metrics may be calculated to indicate confidence in classification. A power delivery method and system for powering a headset. A power signal is combined with an audio signal to form a composite signal that is communicated over a shared channel to the headset. The power signal is generated by modulating a carrier signal with a modulation signal. The modulation signal is derived from the amplitude of the audio signal so that the peak levels of the composite signal do not exceed the maximum allowable output of an audio I/O circuit driving the headset.
