A hybrid drive carrier frame includes a front rail comprising a first end, a second end, and a body extending along a transverse direction between the first and second ends. The frame comprises a first side rail extending from the first end of the front rail perpendicular to the transverse direction and a second side rail extending from the second end of the front rail perpendicular to the transverse direction and parallel to the first side rail. The first side rail is formed from a metal material and includes a locking tab extending along the transverse direction. The front and second side rails are formed from a plastic material. The front rail includes a locking channel at the first end of the front rail and the first side rail is connected to the first end of the front rail via engagement of the locking tab within the locking channel.

Hybrid drive carrier frame

A light pipe housing for a drive carrier comprises a base structure having a front face, a back face, a first light pipe cavity, and a second light pipe cavity. The light pipe housing comprises a raised ramp extending between the first light pipe cavity and the second light pipe cavity, the raised ramp having a first edge adjacent to the first light pipe cavity and a second edge adjacent to the second light pipe cavity. The housing further comprises a top cover having a cut out portion. The base structure and top cover are in conjunction configured to carry any one of a first light pipe and a second light pipe for the drive carrier. The light pipe housing configured to carry one light pipe at a time. The first light pipe and the second light pipe have mutually different light pipe arrangements.

A modular rear panel system for a chassis of an electronic device includes modular brackets and modular rear panel sections. The brackets are each configured to be selectively coupled to the chassis at a corresponding one of multiple bracket mounting locations. The rear panel sections are each configured to be selectively coupled to one or more corresponding ones of the modular brackets. The brackets and the plurality of rear panel sections comprise, i.e., can be grouped into, multiple different combinations, with each combination comprising a subset of the rear panel sections and subset of the brackets that can be assembled together to form a rear panel of the chassis, with the subset of brackets coupled to the mounting locations and the subset of rear panel sections coupled to the subset of brackets. The respective rear panels formable by the plurality of combinations have mutually different rear panel configurations.

A drive carrier comprises a front portion, a first lateral rail extending from the front portion, and a second lateral rail extending from the front portion. The front portion and first and second lateral rails form a frame configured to receive a media drive between the first and second lateral rails. The first lateral rail is formed from plastic and comprises a screw hole. When the media drive is received in the frame, the media drive is coupled to the first lateral rail by a screw inserted through the screw hole. The drive carrier also has a metal screw plate in-molded into the plastic of the first lateral rail surrounding the screw hole. The screw plate strengthens the first lateral rail around the rim of the screw hole to prevent the head of the screw from cracking the plastic and/or tearing through the plastic.

In some embodiments, an apparatus comprises an integrated circuit module comprising two layers of thermal interface material, a printed circuit assembly disposed between the two layers of thermal interface material and comprising a plurality of integrated circuits disposed on both sides of a circuit board, wherein at least one of the integrated circuits is thermally coupled with one of the layers of thermal interface material, and two heat spreaders adapted to removably retain one another, and when retaining one another to enclose and become thermally coupled with the two layers of thermal interface material; and a printed circuit board having a connector disposed thereon, wherein a connector edge of the printed circuit assembly is disposed within the connector. In other embodiments, a frame is adapted to retain the two heat spreaders.

Thermal interface apparatus for PCI express M.2 printed circuit assemblies

Apparatuses and systems described herein provide hood latch designs for removable hoods of chassis of computing devices. A hood latch for the removable hood of a chassis includes an actuator that has an oblong aperture. A direction of a long dimension of the oblong aperture is offset from an actuator-open direction by an acute angle. A pin rigidly attached to a base portion of the chassis rests in the oblong aperture. When the actuator moves from an actuator-closed position to an actuator-open position, the actuator pushes against the pin and the pin slides from a pin-closed position within the aperture to a pin-open position within the aperture. Since the pin is rigidly attached to the chassis and the hood latch is affixed to the hood, hood slides from a hood-closed position to a hood-open position as the actuator moves from the actuator-closed position to the actuator-open position.

Examples herein relate to intrusion switch. In particular, implementations herein relate to a computer system including a housing enclosing at least one electronic component therein. The housing includes a base and a removable cover. The cover is movable between engaged and disengaged positions relative to the base and extends over at least a portion of the base and is secured to the base in the engaged position. The cover is removable from the base when the cover is in the disengaged position. The computer system further includes an intrusion switch configured to detect access to an interior of the computer system. A portion of the cover extends through a slot in one of the sidewalls of the base and contacts the intrusion switch when the cover is in the engaged position. Contact between the cover and the intrusion switch is released when the cover is in the disengaged position such that the intrusion switch can detect when the cover is moved to the disengaged position.

An apparatus comprising: a drive carrier assembly (DCA) including; an energy storage device having at least a portion thereof encased by a housing; and a printed circuit assembly to detect a power failure of a host computing device, wherein the printed circuit assembly has a first portion coupled to the energy storage device and a second portion coupled to a backplane of the host computing device.

An apparatus includes: a 1 U drive chassis divided into a plurality of compartments by a partition, the plurality of compartments including an interior compartment; an interior cage installed in the interior compartment, the interior cage including a plurality of pockets into which storage media are mounted when in use and having a back edge; a hinge by which the interior cage is rotatably mounted to the 1 U drive chassis along the back edge of the interior cage; a lift to rotate the interior cage at least partially to an open position when the first latch is released; and a latch to maintain the interior cage in a closed position and to maintain the interior cage in the opened position according to the rotation of the interior compartment.

An example apparatus comprises a drive carrier assembly which may include a memory device, and an energy storage device having at least a portion thereof encased in a housing. In some examples, the apparatus may include a printed circuit assembly to detect a power failure of a host computing device. The printed circuit assembly, may have a first portion coupled to the energy storage device and a second portion coupled to a backplane of the host computing device.

Drive carrier assemblies

In one example in accordance with the present disclosure an electro-magnetic interference (EMI) containment device is described. The EMI containment device includes a number of spring devices to maintain contact between an electronic module and an enclosure. The spring device includes a spring portion to contact an electronic module disposed in the enclosure. A guide device of the spring device controls movement of the spring portion and an alignment mechanism maintains alignment of the spring portion.

This disclosure describes designs for chassis with multiple hoods and methods for removing those hoods. A base portion of a chassis includes an opening, a base ridge comprising a first section and a second section, an L-shaped cutout disposed along the first section of the base ridge, and a T-shaped cutout disposed along the second section of the base ridge. The T-shaped cutout includes a front recess and a rear recess.

Example implementations relate to a fan module assembly. One example fan module assembly includes a basepan housed in a chassis of a computing device. The basepan includes a distal end. The fan module assembly also includes a plurality of pins extending from the basepan. The plurality of pins includes a first pin and a second pin. The first pin and the second pin are staggered with respect to a plane defined by the distal end. The fan module assembly further includes a fan module attached to the basepan via the first pin and the second pin.

A convertible chassis system for receiving a plurality of storage drives includes a chassis that includes a plurality of bays for receiving the storage drives. The convertible chassis also includes a reversible key that is removably affixed to the chassis body in either a first orientation or a second orientation. Each orientation provides a different key guide within the plurality of bays that either allows the storage drives to be received into or rejected from the bays of the chassis.

A system, comprising: a slot to accept an option card, wherein the slot includes: a connector to receive the option card; and guide rails to guide the option card into the slot, wherein at least one of the guide rails includes a latch and a button, wherein when the option card is not inserted into the slot and the button is: in a locked position, the latch prevents insertion of the option card into the slot; in an unlocked position, the latch allows insertion of the option card into the slot.
