A drill bit may be located at the downhole end of the bottomhole assembly and a powered rotary steering system may be located in the bottomhole assembly. The system may also include a first drilling mechanics module located in the bottomhole assembly, proximate the powered rotary steering system and the drill bit. The first drilling mechanics module may be coupled in electronic communication to the power rotary steering system. The system may also include a plurality of drilling dynamics measurement units distributed along a length of the bottomhole assembly, between the downhole end and the uphole end. The plurality of drilling dynamics measurement units may be coupled in electronic communication with the first drilling mechanics module.

Aspects of the disclosure can relate to a system for tracking fatigue damage experienced by a tool in real-time. The system can include a processor operably coupled to a memory and operable to execute one or more modules to generate master curve fitting coefficients for a connection type associated with a tool component (e.g., a component of a bottom hole assembly). The master curve fitting coefficients can be for a threaded connection master curve, a port hole master curve, and so forth. The processor can also be operable to execute the one or more modules to generate a fatigue calculator for the tool component. The system may receive a real-time trajectory for the tool, determine a curvature from the trajectory of the tool, determine a bending moment based upon the curvature, and determine fatigue damage for the tool component based upon the bending moment using the fatigue calculator.

A method detects at least one phase of multiphase borehole fluids within a borehole. The method has a step of providing coiled tubing connected to a top end of a bottom hole assembly having a sensor configured to detect a property associated with the multiphase borehole fluids. Further, the method has a step of positioning the sensor adjacent to a first phase of the multiphase borehole fluids by rotating the bottom hole assembly or a portion of the bottom hole assembly. Moreover, the method has the steps of detecting a first measurement with the sensor as the sensor rotates and determining a fractional amount of at least one phase of the multiphase borehole fluids.

Various embodiments of methods and systems for wireless power and/or data communications transmissions to a sensor subassembly above a mud motor in a bottom hole assembly are disclosed. Power and/or data are supplied by rotary modulator and power generation system positioned above the mud motor. Wires may connect to an annular coil. Power and/or communications are transmitted through the annular coil to an inductively coupled second, mandrel coil that is attached to the rotor. By leveraging resonantly tuned circuits and impedance matching techniques for the coils, power and/or data can be transmitted efficiently from one coil to the other despite relative movement and misalignment of the two coils.

A bottom hole assembly (BHA) configured for use in a drill string of a wellsite drilling system. The BHA includes a measuring-while-drilling (MWD) module, a wireless power and data connection, and a rotary steerable system (RSS). The MWD module is configured for coupling to a drill string, and includes a power generation component and a direction and inclination (D&I) survey package. The wireless power and data connection is disposed above a drilling motor in the drill string and for providing power and data connectivity between the MWD module and the drilling motor. The RSS is coupled to the drilling motor for receiving power from and communicating with the MWD module via the wireless power and data connection and the drilling motor.

A motor steering system includes a drill collar, a transmitter circuit having a power transmitting coil, a rotor, and a receiver circuit having a power receiving coil. The transmitter circuit is coupled to the drill collar and the receiver circuit is coupled to the rotor such that the transmitter circuit and the receiver circuit are positioned with respect to one another such that power is coupled from the power transmitting coil to the power receiving coil whereby the drill collar provides electric power to the rotor.

An apparatus, system, and method for transmitting measurements while drilling are adapted for use with a drill string equipped with a mud motor. The drill string may comprise a plurality of interconnected drill pipe joints or a plurality of interconnected casing joints. The apparatus comprises a measurement-while-drilling tool adapted for placement in the drill string beneath the mud motor. The measurement-while-drilling tool has a system for transmitting telemetry signals, such as mud-pulse telemetry signals, upwardly through the mud motor and the drill string. In particular embodiments, the measurement-while-drilling tool has a system for transmitting mud-pulse telemetry signals upwardly through the mud motor and the drill string at frequencies below approximately 1 Hz, although other frequencies may be employed to advantage. The apparatus may further comprise a rotary steerable system for placement in the drill string beneath the mud motor. The rotary steerable system may be a point-the-bit system or a push-the-bit system. In particular embodiments, the rotary steerable system and the measurement-while-drilling tool are integrated.

Apparatus and method for measuring while drilling

A method of using jarring tool in a wellbore, where the jarring tool is electrically activated to apply an impact force transmitted to at least another tool in the well. The method may further comprise operating a hydraulic mechanism in response to electrical activation of the jarring tool to cause a first member of the jarring tool to be moved to collide with a second member of the jarring tool to apply the impact force. Also, the method may involve electrically activating the jarring tool by communicating at least one command over at least one electrical conductor to the jarring tool.

A communication system for a casing while drilling system is provided. The casing while drilling system is adapted to advance a bottom hole assembly into a subsurface formation via a casing. The communication system comprises a high frequency modulator and a transducer. The modulator is positioned in the bottom hole assembly and adapted to generate a mud pulse by selectively restrict mud flow passing therethrough. The transducer is adapted to detect the mud pulse generated by the modulator.
