This invention provides supplying a model that will together with software and a controller, separately selectively cycle up (activate) or cycle down (inactivate) color stations in accordance with their need for a particular imaging run. The cycled down stations are not activated for the imaging run thereby preserving the quality of the developer and toner in that inactivated color station or housing. The model will vary, depending on the machine or desired images. Each model can later be used for machines of the same family.

Smart developer cycle up

A portable gate assembly for use in combination with a corral or holding pen to capture wild or renegade cows is disclosed. The portable gate assembly includes a frame defining a frame opening extending therethrough, the frame opening being sized such that the cow sought to be captured can pass therethrough. A gate is pivotally connected to the frame such that the gate is selectively movable between a first position and a second position. In the first position the gate is positioned in at least a portion of the frame opening such that the lower end of the gate is disposed a distance above the ground to permit at least a portion of the cows head to the position thereunder, in the second position the gate being moved inwardly and upwardly into the corral or holding pen and over the back of the cow when the cow moves through the frame opening and into the corral or holding pen. To prevent the cow from escaping, once captured, the portable gate assembly further includes at least one stop member connected to at least one of the frame and the gate for preventing outward movement of the gate and thereby escape of the captured cow through the frame opening.

A method for preserving image squareness and image on image registration in a system having a plurality of imaging stations, each imaging station having an ROS. The method includes adjusting the target skew of a reference ROS within one of the plurality of imaging stations by the angular difference between the actual reference ROS position and the target position for the reference ROS and adjusting the target skew of the reference ROS by the skew of the reference ROS relative to the desired skew for image squareness.

Flexible xerographic process controls patch scheduler

A printing system for producing prints, with each print including an image represented by image data, is provided. The printing system includes a memory for storing and buffering the image data of a selected print and an image output terminal, communicating with the memory, for printing the image of the selected print on a substrate. The printing system further includes marking software, operatively associated with the image output terminal, for determining a value for the maximum amount of memory to be used in printing selected ones of the prints, and a resource manager, communicating with the marking software and the memory, for managing the memory. In practice, the resource manager receives the value from the marking software and the substrate is fed to the image output terminal when the resource manager determines that the value corresponds with a selected amount of available memory space and that an additional predetermined condition is satisfied.

Apparatus and method for managing memory in a printing system

In accordance with the present invention there is provided a method for scheduling transfers in a printing machine of the type having a scheduler communicating with both a first disk and a second disk, the first and second disks having a combined bandwidth. The method for scheduling comprises the following steps: First, a first transfer to be performed on a first location of the first disk during a first time interval and a second transfer to be performed on a second location of the first disk during a second time interval are both scheduled, with the scheduler, so that a first time gap interval exists between the first time interval and the second time interval. Second, a third transfer to be performed on a first location of the second disk during a third time interval and a fourth transfer to be performed on a second location of the second disk during a fourth time interval are both scheduled, with the scheduler, so that a second time gap interval exists between the third time interval and the fourth time interval. Finally, a fifth transfer to be performed during a fifth interval is scheduled, with the scheduler, so that the fifth interval occurs during either the first time gap interval or the second time gap interval in a manner that maximizes the combined bandwidth of the first and second disks.

Dispatching and scheduling memory operations in an electronic printing

An electronic printing system prevents printing failures and interruptions associated with the inability of an image generation subsystem to generate a page image in digital form in real-time by reviewing the page contents prior to submission to the image generation subsystem. The quantity, size, geometry and location of objects on a page are analyzed to generate an internal intermediate description of the page. A determination is made if sufficient resources exist to perform real-time imaging. If real-time imaging cannot be performed, the page will be automatically simplified before the job containing the page is submitted for printing.
