In some implementations, a screen assembly may include at least one plate member having at least one opening; a screen, that is fluid permeable, disposed on the at least one plate member to expose the screen via the at least one opening; an aperture through the at least one plate member and the screen to receive an axle shaft; a notch extending inwardly from an outer edge of the screen assembly to provide a passage for a fluid conduit; and at least one magnet disposed on the at least one plate member.

Screen assembly

A floating spacer assembly for a gear mounted on a shaft, such as a planet gear mounted to a planet carrier, is disclosed. The gear may be mounted on the shaft with a pair of roller bearings with inner races and bearing rollers, and a gear bore having a gear groove defined therein functioning as the outer races of the roller bearings. The floating spacer assembly may include an annular spacer ring having one or more sector slots circumferentially spaced around the spacer ring, and a spacer sector disposed within each of the sector slots and extending radially outward from the spacer ring and into the gear groove when the floating spacer assembly is installed between the roller bearings. The spacer sectors may engage surfaces of the gear groove and the spacer ring may engage the bearing rollers to limit axial movement of the gear relative to the shaft.

A carrier for a planetary gear train includes a hub disposed about an axis of rotation, the hub having an external cylindrical surface including a plurality of splines extending along a longitudinal direction, the longitudinal direction being parallel to the axis of rotation; and a deck extending away from the hub along a radial direction, the radial direction being transverse to the longitudinal direction. The deck defining a plurality of holes therethrough, each hole of the plurality of holes being configured to receive an axle of a planet gear of the plurality of planet gears, the hub being disposed between the plurality of holes and the axis of rotation along the radial direction. The splines have a value of a parameter (P) that is not less than 2.5 and not greater than 6.0.

A final drive assembly for a machine includes an input shaft drivably coupled to a prime mover. The input shaft is coupled to and drives a first stage gear assembly. The first stage gear assembly further drives a second stage gear assembly. The first and second stage gear assemblies drive a ring gear which is coupled to a wheel of the machine. The first and second stage gear assemblies are disposed between a first bearing assembly and a second bearing assembly. A spring member preloads the first bearing assembly to limit an axial movement of the first and second stage gear assemblies.

An axle assembly includes an electric drive motor oriented along an axis and disposed within a central axle housing. The electric drive motor includes a motor housing having an engagement face perpendicular to the axis. The disclosure relates, in one aspect, to a friction brake cooling system for a machine. The cooling system includes at least one pump connected to at least one reservoir containing cooling fluid. A controller is configured to divert a cooling fluid flow through a valve to a first friction brake system and to a second friction brake system based on the use of the systems. In another aspect, the disclosure relates to a method of cooling a first friction brake system and a second friction brake system including diverting a flow of brake cooling fluid to the systems based on the use of the systems.

A plurality of vanes are attached to the carrier to direct oil from an oil bath towards the non-rotating carrier as the rotating carrier rotates.

An improved speed sensing system is disclosed for a machine, such as a truck, that has an axle with an end and an axis. The machine further includes a sensor non-rotatably coupled to the end of the axle and coaxial with the axis. A wheel hub is rotatably coupled to the axle and a wheel cover is coupled to the wheel hub. The machine further includes a magnet coaxially disposed with the axis and coupled to the wheel cover for rotation about the axis as the wheel rotates. The sensor generates signals based on the rotational speed of the magnet and the wheel. For non-rotating axles that are solid or include solid spindles, a passageway for a communication line between the sensor and electronic control module (ECM) may be easily drilled thereby making the disclosed system easy to add to an existing machine or vehicle.

A gear train assembly includes a planetary gear set partially submerged in an oil bath and having a plurality of planetary gears mounted on a rotatable carrier. A plurality of sheaths having a hydrodynamic profile are mounted on the carrier to reduce the churning and turbulence created by the planetary gears as they enter the oil bath.

The present invention provides a wheel assembly for a work machine, the wheel assembly includes a hub defined about a central axis. The hub includes an inboard end, an outboard end and a rim-mounting flange. The rim-mounting flange includes an inboard surface, and outboard surface and an outer edge defined there between. The outer edge includes a groove extending toward the hub. A plurality of bores are disposed about the rim-mounting flange, each of the bores defines a bore diameter. A stud, having a shoulder defining a shoulder diameter is positioned in each of the bores. A retainer is positioned in the groove and holds each stud in its respective bore.
