A tilt structure allows the tilt of a console to be changed through simple motion and has a simple configuration. The tilt structure includes: a second frame attached to an upper portion of a first frame and is swingable upward and downward; and a control member attached to the second frame and is tiltable backward and forward through a tilting shaft. The control member includes a guide part with a groove housing a first frame pin. A locked and unlocked state switch to each other by causing the control member to tilt. The locked state includes a pin engaged with any of the engagement parts. The unlocked state includes the pin disengaged. The tilt of the second frame relative to the first frame is changed by engaging the pin with an arbitrary engagement part of any of the engagement parts and changing a distance between the tilting shaft and pin.

A transparent ceramic material is manufactured by molding a source powder into a compact, the source powder comprising a rare earth oxide consisting of at least 40 mol % of terbium oxide and the balance of another rare earth oxide, and a sintering aid, sintering the compact at a temperature T (1,300° C.≤T≤1,650° C.) by heating from room temperature to T(1200° C.≤T≤T) at a rate of at least 100° C./h, and optionally heating from Tat a rate of 1-95° C./h, and HIP treating the sintered compact at 1,300-1,650° C. The ceramic material has improved diffuse transmittance in the visible region and functions as a magneto-optical part in a broad visible to NIR region.

A transparent complex oxide sintered body is manufactured by sintering a compact in an inert atmosphere or vacuum, and HIP treating the sintered compact, provided that the compact is molded from a source powder based on a rare earth oxide: (TbY)Owherein 0.4&#x2264;x&#x2264;0.6, and the compact, when heated in air from room temperature at a heating rate of 15&#xb0; C./min, exhibits a weight gain of at least y % due to oxidative reaction, y being determined by the formula: y=2x+0.3. The sintered body has a long luminescent lifetime as a result of controlling the valence of Tb ion.

A transparent sintered body having fewer air bubble-derived defects is provided. More specifically, a method is provided of producing a ceramic molded product including at least a step of pressure-molding ceramic granules having a Hausner ratio, which is a quotient obtained by dividing a tapped bulk density by a loose bulk density, of 1.0 or more but not more than 1.2. Also provided is a method of producing a transparent sintered body including at least each of the steps of the above method to obtain a ceramic molded product and a step of heating and sintering the resulting ceramic molded product. The transparent sintered body has a linear transmittance of 78% or more at a wavelength of 600 nm to 2000 nm inclusive except for an element-derived characteristic absorption wavelength.

Container

An optical element includes an airtight container having opposing face walls in a thickness direction, and side walls connecting the end face walls; a first liquid sealed in the container and having polarity or conductivity; a second liquid sealed in the container and not mixed with the first liquid so as to define an interface between the first liquid and the second liquid; and voltage applying means for applying a voltage to the first liquid. Further, the first liquid and the second liquid have the same specific gravity and substantially the same refractive index, and minute particles made of a material that does not transmit light are mixed in the first liquid, such that the first liquid has less light transmittance than the second liquid. In a state in which the voltage is applied to the first liquid, the interface between the first liquid and the second liquid deforms, and a transmitting path of light is formed that passes through the end face walls and propagates in the thickness direction of the container.
