A liquid ejection head includes a supply manifold, a return manifold, a plurality of individual channels, and a connecting throttle channel. The supply manifold includes a supply port through which liquid is supplied from an exterior. The return manifold includes a return port through which liquid is discharged to the exterior. Each individual channel is connected, at an upstream end thereof, to the supply manifold and, at a downstream end thereof, to the return manifold. Each individual channel communicates with a corresponding one of nozzles and includes an individual throttle channel Through the connecting throttle channel, adjacent ones of the individual throttle channels communicate with each other. The connecting throttle channel has a channel resistance less than or equal to a channel resistance of each individual throttle channel.

Liquid ejection head

There is provide a liquid discharge head including: a supply manifold; a feedback manifold; and a plurality of individual flow channels having: a supply portion, a descender portion, and a feedback portion. The supply manifold has a plurality of supply ports, and the feedback manifold has a plurality of feedback ports. At least part of the supply manifold overlaps with the feedback manifold in the second direction. The plurality of pressure chambers have first pressure chambers forming a first pressure chamber array and second pressure chambers forming a second pressure chamber array. The first pressure chamber array is arranged at one side, of the supply manifold, in a third direction and the second pressure chamber array is arranged at the other side, of the supply manifold, in the third direction. The first pressure chamber array and the second pressure chamber array are connected to the supply manifold.

Liquid discharge head

In a liquid ejection head, an ejection pressure is applied to a pressure chamber for liquid ejection from a nozzle. A descender extends in a first direction and includes a first end connected to the pressure chamber and a second end. A communication passage is connected to the second end, extends in a second direction crossing the first direction, and has a first dimension in the first direction. The nozzle is positioned at the communication passage such that a shortest distance between an outer periphery thereof and a center of the second end is greater than 0.5 times a second dimension of the second end in the second direction. When viewed in the first direction, the center of the second end and a center of a cross-section defined by the nozzle to be orthogonal to an extending direction of the nozzle intersect an axis of the communication passage.

A head module includes a pressure chamber, a piezoelectric member, a supply manifold, a return manifold, and a damper portion. The pressure chamber is configured to hold liquid therein and in fluid communication with a nozzle orifice. The piezoelectric member is configured to apply pressure to liquid held in the pressure chamber. The supply manifold is in fluid communication with the pressure chamber and configured to allow liquid to flow into the pressure chamber therefrom. The return manifold is in fluid communication with the pressure chamber and configured to allow liquid not ejected from the nozzle orifice to flow thereinto. The damper portion is positioned between the supply manifold and the return manifold when viewed in plan from a nozzle surface of the head module. The nozzle surface has the nozzle orifice defined therein. The damper portion includes a particular plate having a particular recessed portion.

Head module

An electronic device includes: a first substrate having a first surface and a second surface opposite from the first surface; a second substrate facing the first surface; driven elements provided at the second substrate; a drive circuit facing the second surface; a first interconnect provided at the first surface; a second interconnect provided at the second surface; a through-substrate interconnection part penetrating the first substrate in a thickness direction thereof; a first bump part; and a second bump part. The drive circuit is capable of outputting drive signals for driving the driven elements. The through-substrate interconnection part electrically connects the first interconnect and the second interconnect. The first bump part electrically connects the first interconnect and the driven elements. The second bump part electrically connects the second interconnect and the drive circuit. The through-substrate interconnection part has an electrical resistance lower than an electrical resistance of the second bump part.

There is provided a liquid discharge head including a channel unit including: individual channels aligned in a first direction, and first and second common channels extending in the first direction. Each of the individual channels includes: a nozzle, a pressure chamber, and first and second communicating channels. The channel unit further includes a linking channel linking two pieces of the second communicating channel to each other. Resistance, in one of the two individual channels, from one end of the second communicating channel up to a linking part of the second communicating channel at which the second communicating channel is linked to the linking channel is different from resistance, in the other of the two individual channels, from the one end of the second communicating channel up to the linking part of the second communicating channel.

There is provided a liquid discharge head including a channel member and a temperature sensor. The channel member includes: a plurality of individual channels aligned in a first direction; a first common channel extending in the first direction and communicating with the plurality of individual channels; a second common channel extending in the first direction, communicating with the plurality of individual channels and arranged side by side to the first common channel in a second direction crossing the first direction; and a connecting channel extending in the second direction and connecting an end in the first direction of the first common channel and an end in the first direction of the second common channel. The temperature sensor overlaps with the connecting channel in the second direction.

There is provided a liquid discharge apparatus configured to discharge a liquid, including a channel member for the liquid. The channel member is formed to include: individual channels; a first and second manifold channels; and a bypass channel. Each of the individual channels and the bypass channel are all connected to the first manifold channel on only one of an upper and lower sides of a central portion between upper and lower surfaces of the first manifold channel, and connected to the second manifold channel on only one of upper and lower sides of a central portion between upper and lower surfaces of the second manifold channel. A channel resistance of the bypass channel is smaller than that of the individual channels.

Liquid discharge apparatus and image recording apparatus including the same

A liquid discharge head includes: a supply manifold; a feedback manifold; and a plurality of individual flow channels. Each of the individual flow channels includes: a supply portion, a descender portion, and a feedback portion. The supply manifold has a plurality of supply ports, and the feedback manifold has a plurality of feedback ports. A distance between the center of the supply manifold in one direction and the plurality of supply ports of the supply manifold is longer than &#xbc; of a width of the supply manifold in the one direction, and a distance in the one direction between the center of the feedback manifold in the one direction and the plurality of feedback ports of the feedback manifold is shorter than &#xbc; of a width of the feedback manifold in the one direction.

Liquid discharge head and liquid discharge apparatus

A liquid ejection head includes pressure chambers arrayed in an array direction, a supply manifold extending in the array direction, a return manifold disposed below the supply manifold, and a bypass channel. Each pressure chamber receives a pressure for ejecting liquid from a corresponding nozzle. The supply manifold communicates with the pressure chambers and includes a supply opening through which liquid enters from an exterior. The return manifold is formed by a first forming unit to extend in the array direction and communicate with the pressure chambers, and includes a return opening through which liquid exits to the exterior. The bypass channel connects the supply manifold and the return manifold. The first forming unit includes a first top surface defining a top surface of the return manifold, and a first protrusion protruding downward from the first top surface and having a lower end at which the bypass channel is open.

A liquid ejection head includes a supply manifold, a return manifold, and individual channels each connected, at its upstream end, to the supply manifold and, at its downstream end, to the return manifold. Each of the individual channels communicates with a corresponding one of nozzles arranged in an array on a nozzle surface. The supply manifold and the return manifold extend in an extending direction along the nozzle array. The return manifold includes a lower portion located below the supply manifold to overlap the supply manifold in plan view orthogonal to the nozzle surface, and a standing portion located at at least one of opposite ends of the lower portion in the extending direction to be outside the supply manifold in plan view. The standing portion has a height to cover at least a portion of an end of the supply manifold when viewed in the extending direction.

Liquid ejection head and liquid ejection apparatus

A liquid ejection head includes a nozzle, a pressure chamber configured to receive a pressure to eject liquid from the nozzle, a descender, and a communication channel. The descender has a first end and a second end opposite to each other. The first end is connected to the pressure chamber. The communication channel is connected to the second end and extends from a connection with the second end in an X direction. A first direction in which the descender extends from the second end toward the first end is inclined toward the communication channel relative to a Y direction orthogonal to the X direction.

A liquid discharge head includes: a first substrate including a pressure chamber; and a second substrate. The first substrate has a first surface in which a nozzle communicating with the pressure chamber is opened and a second surface positioned at an opposite side of the first surface and in which a communication hole communicating with the pressure chamber is opened. The second substrate is joined to the second surface of the first substrate and has a channel communicating with the pressure chamber via the communication hole. The pressure chamber has a first end in a first direction and a center portion in the first direction. The communication hole communicates with the first end of the pressure chamber, and the first end of the pressure chamber is greater than the center portion of the pressure chamber in length in a second direction which intersects with the first direction.

A liquid discharge head includes: first and second common channels extending in a first direction; and individual channels including pressure chambers and nozzles. Each of the individual channels includes: a supply portion; a descender portion extending in a second direction; and a return portion extending in a third direction. The return portion includes: a throttle portion; and a wide portion. Each of the nozzles overlaps with the wide portion. A relationship of L&#x3e;Lis satisfied, wherein Lis a distance in the third direction from a center of each of the nozzles to a throttle starting position, and Lis a distance in the third direction passing through a center in a cross section of the descender portion and ranging from a center line parallel to the second direction to the center of each of the nozzles.

A piezoelectric actuator includes: a plurality of discrete electrodes, which is disposed on one side of a piezoelectric element; a common electrode, which is disposed on the other side of the piezoelectric element; a plurality of discrete contacts, which are respectively connected to the plurality of discrete electrodes, and wherein the plurality of discrete electrodes include: a first discrete electrode; and a second discrete electrode, which is disposed at a position away from a corresponding discrete contact as compared with the first discrete electrode, wherein the common electrode includes: a first common electrode, which faces the first discrete electrode in the thickness direction; and a second common electrode, which is separated from the first common electrode in the surface direction and faces the second discrete electrode in the thickness direction, and wherein a connection wiring is provided to connect the first common electrode with the second common electrode.
