An image capturing apparatus capable of guaranteeing the authenticity of contents while reducing the calculation load of a hash value of an image file. The image capturing apparatus generates an image file, and performs processing for reducing a file size of the image file. A hash value generation section calculates a hash value by applying a hash function to the processed image file. Reduction processing information indicating a method of reducing the file size is generated, and the image file, the hash value, and the reduction processing information are transmitted in a state associated with each other, to a management system that registers data associated with the image file including the hash value in a blockchain.

An image capturing apparatus capable of guaranteeing the authenticity of a person existing in an image as an object. The image capturing apparatus has an image capturing section that captures an image of an object to generate an image data item. A biometric information acquisition section detects biometric information of the object. A biometric authentication section acquires a biometric authentication result indicating whether or not the detected biometric information matches registered biometric information registered in advance. A hash value generation section generates a hash value from the image data item in a case where the biometric authentication result indicates that the biometric information and the registered biometric information match. The hash value and the image data are recorded in a recording medium. When the image of the object is captured by the image capturing section, biometric information of the object is detected.

The present disclosure includes systems and methods for reducing rewrite overhead in a sequential access storage system. The method may comprise writing a data set to a sequential access medium using a magnetic head, wherein the data set comprises a plurality of encoded data blocks, classifying each of the plurality of encoded data blocks on the sequential access medium into one of at least three classes of write quality, and rewriting the encoded data blocks in a rewrite area of the sequential access medium based at least in part on the write quality class. In some embodiments, the at least three classes of write quality may comprise a hard rewrite class for which rewrites are necessary to prevent data loss, a soft rewrite class for which rewrites are desirable but not necessary, and a no rewrite class for which no rewrite is needed or desired.

In an approach to adaptive tape calibration criteria based on the number of dead tracks, the number of rewrite occurrences for each dead track on a tape drive is determined. Responsive to detecting that a head is in a dead track state, the number of dead tracks is stored on the tape drive. A calibration threshold is determined, where the calibration threshold includes the number of dead track rewrites and the calibration reference value for a specific tape drive type. Responsive to the number of rewrite occurrences exceeding the calibration threshold while writing a data set, a calibration of the tape drive.

In an approach to adaptive tape calibration criteria based on the number of stop writes, the number of rewrite occurrences caused by a stop write is determined for each specific tape drive type. Responsive to detecting a stop write during a write operation, the total number of stop writes is stored on the tape drive. A rewrite calibration threshold is determined, where the rewrite calibration threshold includes the total number of stop writes on the tape drive and a calibration reference value for the specific tape drive type. In one embodiment, a system includes a controller and logic integrated with and/or executable by the controller. The logic is configured to perform iterative decoding on encoded data to obtain decoded data. The logic is also configured to perform post-decoding error diagnostics on a first portion of the decoded data in response to not obtaining a valid product codeword in the first portion after the iterative decoding of the encoded data. Other systems, methods, and computer program products for producing post-decoding error signatures are presented in accordance with more embodiments.
