There is provided an image forming apparatus including a casing which includes one side wall extending in a vertical direction and has a first opening; and a discharge portion which receives a recording medium having a developer image formed thereon, and a cassette which accommodates recording media and is removably mounted to the casing. The casing further includes a tray which is disposed near the one side wall and receives a recording medium to be transported into the casing through the first opening. The tray is rotatable between a first position where the tray is bent so as to cover at least part of the one side wall and the discharge portion and a second position where the tray extends so as to be separated from the one side wall and receives a recording medium to be supplied into the casing through the first opening.

Image forming apparatus

An image forming apparatus includes a casing, a photosensitive body, a toner accommodation component, a developing roller and an exposure unit configured to emit a laser beam toward the photosensitive body along an irradiating path. The image forming apparatus further includes a sheet feed roller configured to feed a sheet toward the photosensitive body. In some arrangements, the sheet feed roller is disposed at a position closer to the exposure unit than to the photosensitive body, and the developing device is disposed at a first height range relative to the bottom of the casing, the first height range being lower than the irradiation path. Moreover, the toner accommodation component is disposed at a second height range relative to the bottom of the casing, the second height range being higher than the irradiation path.

A developing device includes a housing, a developing roller, a supply roller, a first regulating member, a second regulating member, a communication portion, and a conveying member. The second regulating member contacts with the supply roller. The housing has a first part and a second part. The first part is downstream of the second regulating member in a rotating direction of the supply roller, and a second part is upstream of the second regulating member in the rotating direction. The communication portion provides communication between the first part and the second part. The conveying member is in the first part and configured to convey the developing agent in the first part to the communication portion.

An image forming apparatus includes: a process unit having a photosensitive body extending in a first direction; a first roller disposed on one side in a second direction of the process unit, which is substantially perpendicular to a vertical direction and the first direction; an exposure unit; a fixing unit disposed on the other side in the second direction of the process unit; and a second roller disposed on an upper side of the fixing unit and on the other side in the second direction of the first roller and configured to transport the recording medium passed through the fixing unit to an outside of a casing. The casing includes a guide portion configured to guide the process unit into the casing, and the exposure unit is disposed on the one side in the second direction of the process unit and the guide portion.

Process unit and exposure unit arrangement in an image forming apparatus

An image forming apparatus includes a casing having a cover which is moved between a closed position and an open position, a process unit which is removably mounted to the casing via an opening of the casing and includes a handle, and an interlocking mechanism which moves the process unit in interlocking with a movement of the cover between the closed position and the open position to cause the process unit to be located at an internal position when the cover is located at the closed position and cause the process unit to be located at an extraction position when the cover is located at the open position. The handle is moved in interlocking with a movement of the process unit between an accommodation position when the process unit is located at the internal position and an ejection position when the process unit is located at the extraction position.

In a developer supply device, a developer carrying portion has a roller main body and a brush layer having flexible fibrous members. A casing includes a developer reservoir portion therein and is formed with an opening portion. The casing rotatably supports the developer carrying portion while the brush layer is exposed externally at the opening portion and opposes a supply target. A developer regulation portion regulates an amount of developer on the brush layer. The developer regulation portion includes a main part and a regulation part. The main part is fixed to the casing, has a plate portion, and extends from one end to another end in an extending direction. The regulation part is connected to the other end. The regulation part enters into the brush layer toward a central rotational axis. A prescribed rotational direction at the regulation part is substantially opposite to the extending direction.

Developer supply device having developer regulation portion to regulate amount of developer on brush layer

A developer supply device configured to supply developer is provided. The developer supply device includes a rotatable developer carrying body configured to carry the developer, a casing configured to rotatably support the developer carrying body, and a restricting member configured to contact the developer carrying body to remove a part of the developer. The casing has a collecting side developer storage room configured to store the developer removed by the restricting member and a supplying side developer storage room configured to store the developer to be supplied to the brush layer. A supplying side developer storage level, which is a storage level of the developer in the supplying side developer storage room, is higher than a collecting side developer storage level, which is a storage level of the developer in the collecting side developer storage room.

Developer supply device

A developer supplying apparatus includes a developer carrying member, a casing, and a side seal. The developer carrying member includes a roller body and a brush part having fibrous members disposed on the peripheral surface. The developer carrying member is configured to carry a developer at the brush part. The casing includes a developer storing portion configured to store the developer, and has an opening formed along a rotation axis of the developer carrying member. The casing is configured to support the developer carrying member rotatably such that the brush layer is exposed outside from the opening. The side seal is disposed in an end of the opening in a direction along the rotation axis of the developer carrying member such that the side seal protrudes toward the brush layer to press the brush layer toward the rotation axis.

A developer supply device includes a developer-carrying body having a developer-carrying surface that faces an intended device in a first position and moves in a moving direction, a first transfer board that faces the developer-carrying surface in a second position upstream relative to the first position in the moving direction and transfers the developer to the second position in a direction opposite to the moving direction in the second position, an electrification member facing the developer-carrying surface in a third position downstream relative to the second position and upstream relative to the first position in the moving direction, and a second transfer board that faces the developer-carrying surface in a fourth position downstream relative to the first position and upstream relative to the second position in the moving direction and transfers the developer to a developer storage section in a direction identical to the moving direction in the fourth position.

Developer supply device for supplying charged development agent to intended device and image forming apparatus having the same

A developer supply device is provided, which includes a developer retrieving member disposed to face a developer holding surface of a developer holding member across a predetermined distance in a position downstream relative to a developer supply position where the developer holding member faces an intended device to be supplied with development agent in a direction perpendicular to a main scanning direction parallel to an axial direction of the developer holding member. The developer retrieving member is driven to rotate around an axis parallel to the main scanning direction and configured to retrieve the development agent from the developer holding surface under a retrieving electric field that is generated when a retrieving voltage is applied between the developer retrieving member and the developer holding member.

Developer supply device and image forming apparatus having the same

A developer supply device is provided, which includes a casing including a developer storage section at a bottom portion therein and an opening formed at an end thereof away from the developer storage section, development agent chargeable with a predetermined polarity, stored in the developer storage section, and a transfer board that is disposed in the casing and configured to transfer the development agent stored in the developer storage section when a multi-phase alternating-current voltage is applied to transfer electrodes of the transfer board. The development agent includes a mother particle having, around an outer surface thereof, an electrically insulating layer without a polar group having a charge polarity identical to the predetermined polarity, and an external additive, absorbed to around the mother particle in an easily desorbable manner, which is an electrically insulating fine particle having a charge polarity identical to the predetermined polarity.

A development agent supply device is provided, which includes a development agent holding member configured to rotate around an axis parallel to a first direction such that a development agent holding surface, which faces an intended device to be supplied with development agent in a first position, moves in a second direction perpendicular to the first direction, a transfer board configured to charge and transfer development agent thereon to a second position to face the development agent holding surface, and a facing member disposed to face the development agent holding surface in a position between the first position and the second position in the second direction, the facing member being configured to charge development agent held on the development agent holding surface under an alternating electric field generated between the facing member and the development agent holding member.

Development agent supply device and image forming apparatus having the same

A developing device includes an image carrier, a developer carrier, a biasing unit disposed upstream of a developing area, and a controller configured to control the biasing unit, and a cleaning member disposed downstream of the developing area to remove the liquid developing agent remaining on the developer carrier. A latent image held on the image carrier may be developed with the liquid developing agent, including charged toner and a carrier liquid, at the developing area where the developer carrier faces the image carrier. The controller causes the biasing unit to apply a first bias voltage to the surface of the liquid developing agent held on the developer carrier during developing, or a second bias voltage thereto during cleaning.
