An advantage of some aspects of the invention is to provide a light source device and a projector which can acquire a type of a light source. A light source device includes a light source which emits light; and light source housing which accommodates the light source therein. The light source housing includes an attaching unit which can attach a conducting member having conductivity to a surface of the light source housing, and the conducting member is attached to the attaching unit according to the type of the light source. Accordingly, it is possible to acquire the type of the light source based on the presence or absence of the conducting member electrically connected to the terminal of a device to which the light source device is attached, independent of the temperature of the light source device.

Light source device and projector

A light source device including an arc tube having a light emission portion containing electrodes, a cooling channel having a downstream part branched into first and second channels to guide air toward the light emission portion via one of the channels, a rotational member disposed within the cooling channel and rotatable around a rotation shaft by gravity, and configured to switch cooling to the first or second channel depending on a position of the light source device, and a duct that forms apart of the cooling channel. The width of the rotational member decreases from a remote end toward the rotation shaft. The rotation shaft is disposed on one end of the rotational member corresponding to a side opposite a light emission side of the duct. The duct is shaped such that the cooling channel width decreases toward the side opposite the light emission side.

A light source device includes: a light emission portion; a cooling channel configured to guide air toward the light emission portion; a rotational member disposed within the cooling channel in such a condition as to be rotatable around a predetermined rotation shaft by gravity, and configured to switch the cooling channel to a first channel branched from the cooling channel in the downstream when the light source device is set in a first position, and to a second channel different from the first channel when the light source device is set in a second position, wherein a position of the center of gravity of the rotational member is located at a position shifted from the center between the rotation shaft and an end of the rotational member away from the rotation shaft toward the end.

A projector includes: alight source; a light modulation device configured to modulate light emitted from the light source according to image information; a projection lens configured to project the light modulated by the light modulation device; a holding unit that holds the projection lens; an external housing that accommodates the projection lens and the holding unit; and a clamping portion that projects from the inner surface of the external housing and clamps the projection lens or the holding unit in a direction substantially perpendicular to the optical axis of the projection lens.

Projector

A projector includes a light source device, a optical modulator which modulates luminous flux emitted from the light source device according to image information, a projection optical device which enlarges and projects the luminous flux modulated in the optical modulator, and an outer casing which houses the light source device, the optical modulator and the projection optical device thereinside, in which the outer casing has a ceiling surface and a bottom surface intersecting with respect to the vertical direction and a side surface connecting to the ceiling surface and the bottom surface, in which a concave portion which is recessed toward the inside is formed at the bottom surface side in the side surface, and in which a first connection terminal group connected to an external device through connection cables is arranged at a bottom portion of the concave portion in an exposed state.

Geared motor

A projector for separating white light into three primary colors, forming images with liquid crystal light valves, mixing these images, and projecting an enlarged picture of the mixed images with a projection lens. The projector includes an optical unit having a light source, a plurality of dichroic mirrors for separating the white light into blue, green, and red beams, respective liquid crystal light valves forming images of the blue, green, and red colors. The optical unit has a chassis with a rigid center portion at which one of the liquid crystal light valves is mounted, the other two light valves being mounted symmetrically with respect thereto. An adjustment mechanism is provided for matching pixels of the second and third color valves with those of the first color valve. The red color liquid crystal light valve is disposed midway between the blue and green color liquid crystal light valves and a cooling fan is disposed below the red color liquid crystal light valve.
