According to one embodiment, a discharge lamp includes a light-emitting part including a discharge space therein in which a metal halide and a gas are sealed, and a pair of electrodes which protrude toward an inside of the discharge space and are arranged to face each other while separated by a specified distance. Power consumption at a time of stable lighting is 20 W or more and 30 W or less. When a pressure of the gas sealed in the discharge space is X (atm), and a distance between a center axis of the electrodes and a surface of the metal halide is m (mm), a following expression is satisfied: 0.085&#x2266;m/X&#x2266;0.12.

There is provided a discharge lamp of an embodiment includes a burner having a light emitting part, and a disk-shaped flange which is capable of holding the burner so that the light emitting part is positioned at a front end side of the flange. The flange includes a resin part formed at an edge of the flange, and a metal part formed to be embedded in the resin part.

Discharge lamp and discharge lamp apparatus

A discharge lamp includes an airtight tube including a light-emitting unit in which a space is formed and seal portions formed at least on one end of the light-emitting unit, a discharge medium including a metal halide and a rare gas sealed in the light-emitting unit, a metal foil sealed into the seal portion, and a pair of electrodes one ends of which are overlapped and connected to the metal foil and the other ends of which are provided such that they are led into the space of the light-emitting unit and arranged in opposition to each other. Discharge lamp

A metal halide lamp includes a translucent air tight vessel having a light emitting tube portion with an internal discharge space, and sealing portions formed on both sides. A discharge medium in the discharge space contains at least metal halide and rare gas. A pair of electrodes, one ends of which are sealed at sealing portion and the other end of which are arranged in the discharge space facing each other. The discharge space has a nearly circular shape in a cross section perpendicular to the tube axis and has a structure in which the discharge medium is accumulated between the electrodes. The light emitting tube portion has a wall thickness of a lower portion thinner than that of an upper portion. The metal halide lamp has a high luminous efficiency, a quick rise of light flux and an easy manufacturing ability.
