In an analyzing system including a commanding unit for sending a command and an executing unit for executing a processing upon receiving the command, a processing instruction may not be executed at the right time due to a heavy traffic of information and other factors. In order to solve this problem, in a preparative separation systemaccording to the present invention, a PCprovides the execution time for starting/finishing the fractionation processing to a controller. Therefore, even in the case where the time of the PCand that of the controllerare not synchronized, the controllercan accurately set the execution time for starting/finishing the fractionation in a preparative separation unit. A pipingmay be placed so that the traveling time of sample components is sufficiently larger than the delay time of signals due to the signal transfer lag and other reasons. This can absorb the delay time, allowing the units to cooperate with each other at a correct timing.

Analyzing system

The present invention provides a data-processing system for measurement devices, which performs a step-by-step sequence of data-processing tasks. In a conventional data-processing system, a failure in one data-processing task also causes the subsequent tasks to be unsuccessful. In such a case, the conventional data-processing system indicates the result of each unsuccessful task or the final result of the analysis by displaying only a blank or a specific character (e.g. the digit '0'). From such simple information, users cannot immediately identify the cause of the error. In contrast, in the data-processing system according to the present invention, if a data-processing task has been incorrectly performed for some reason, an error detector detects the error, and an error investigator identifies the cause of the error. Then, an error message displayer prepares an error message indicating the reason why the data-processing task concerned was unsuccessful and then displays the error message as the result of each of the aforementioned task and the subsequent tasks. The user can immediately learn the cause of the error by checking the error message of any of the unsuccessful tasks. Thus, the problem can be identified and solved in a shorter period of time.

Data-processing system for measurement devices

In an inventive analyzing system (e.g. liquid chromatograph), an analyzing schedule includes data on whether or not to carry out a self-check for each sample, and data on what process to follow the self-check according to the check result, in addition to data on the analyzing order and analyzing condition of a series of analyses on a plurality of samples. In carrying out the analysis according to the schedule, a self-check is carried out after an analysis of a sample for which the self-check is scheduled. In the self-check, a data collecting unit 17 collects data on the degree of degradation of expendable parts and on the wavelength error of a spectrophotometric detector 14, etc., and a checking unit 18 detects abnormality by comparing the data to preset tolerable values. For example, in the case where the process specified to follow the detection of abnormality is 'stop analysis on detecting abnormality', a control unit 15 stops each part of the system so that the rest of the analyses are deferred.
