A novel electro-mechanical switch device is disclosed which is suitable for use in a factory production line to detect and control the flow of workpieces or articles of manufacture along the line. The switch device includes a pair of switches (101, 102) operative in response to the workpieces passing thereby along the production line, a switch circuit (13) electrically connected to the switches (101, 102), and a moisture detector (15). The pair of switches are so designed that the operation of one switch is delayed with respect to the other. The switch circuit (13) functions in response to the operation of the switches and the moisture detector (15) to provide a warning signal when one of the switches fails to operate within a predetermined delay time with respect to the other switch, as well as when the moisture detector senses a presence of moisture.

Switch device with a trouble detecting and indicating function

A limit switch having a fixed casing, an actuating part moveably support by the casing, and a pair of contact sets which are adapted to be activated by the movement of the actuating part, one for producing a normal switch output and the other for producing a stroke signal which serves as data for evaluating the appropriateness of the stroke of the actuating part. The other contact set may produce a signal when the actuating part has moved a certain distance more than the minimum stroke for activating the first contact set. Thus, the output from the second contact set ensures a certain stroke margin of the actuating part. Further, the second contact set may produce another stroke signal when the actuating part has been displaced close to the maximum permissible stroke of the actuating part so that an excessive stroke of the actuating part may be detected. The contact set may be purely mechanical or may also be a combination of a mechanical switch and a photoelectric switch.

Limit switch having means to evaluate its actuating stroke

There are provided a first switch which is switched to the on state or the off state in association with a displacement of an actuator which causes a displacement by a contact with an object and a second switch which is switched to the on state or off state later than the first switch in association with the displacement of the actuator. A switch output is produced and an abnormality is detected in accordance with the on and off states of these switches.

Switching apparatus

A switch comprising a cylindrical housing, an actuator mechanism disposed at one end of the housing for contacting an object to be sensed by the switch, a plunger slidably housed within the housing for receiving a displacement by the actuator mechanism, and a switching mechanism associated with the plunger for switching a circuit in accordance with the actuation by the plunger. The actuator mechanism includes a conical supporting member tiltably engaged with a flange member formed in the aforesaid one end of the housing.
