A multilayer piezoelectric device comprises a multilayer body and first and second outer electrodes. The multilayer body has base, first and second driving parts, and non-driving part. The driving parts and non-driving part extend from the base along stacking direction. The first driving part is closer to the non-driving part than the second driving part. Each driving part has first and second inner electrodes opposing each other in stacking direction. The base has a third inner electrode extending along a plane orthogonal to the stacking direction. The first outer electrode is connected to the first inner electrode. The second outer electrode is connected to the second and third inner electrodes. In the stacking direction, the overlap area of the third and second inner electrode of the first driving part is greater than the overlap area of the third and second inner electrode of the second driving part.

Multilayer piezoelectric device

A laminated piezoelectric element capable of being sintered at low temperatures and high in piezoelectric properties is provided. The laminated piezoelectric element comprises a plurality of piezoelectric layers each comprising a composite oxide as a main constituent thereof and a plurality of internal electrode layers formed between the piezoelectric layers and containing Ag, wherein the piezoelectric layers are each comprised of a sintered body comprising the composite oxide, as a main constituent thereof, represented by (PbM) [(ZnNb)TiZr]Owith the proviso that 0.96&#x2266;a&#x2266;1.03, 0&#x2266;b&#x2266;0.1, 0.05&#x2266;x&#x2266;0.15, 0.25&#x2266;y&#x2266;0.5, 0.35&#x2266;z&#x2266;0.6, x+y+z=1, and M represents at least one selected from Sr, Ca and Ba, and Ag in a content of 1.0% by weight or less (not inclusive of 0) in terms of AgO in relation to the main constituent.

Laminated piezoelectric element and production method of the same

Provided is a piezoelectric ceramic composition capable of being sintered at low temperatures and in a low-oxygen reductive atmosphere and capable of attaining a sufficient displacement even at high voltages of 1 kV/mm or more. The piezoelectric ceramic composition includes: a composite oxide, as a main constituent thereof, represented by the following composition formula; Cu and/or Ag, each as a first additive, Cu being included in a content &#x3b1;, in terms of CuO, falling within a range 0&#x3c;&#x3b1;&#x2266;0.5% by mass and Ag being included in a content &#x3b2;, in terms of AgO, falling within a range 0&#x3c;&#x3b2;&#x2266;0.4% by mass, in relation to the main constituent; wherein: composition formula: Pb[(ZnNb)TiZr]O, where 0.96&#x2266;a&#x2266;1.03, 0.005&#x2266;x&#x3c;0.05, 0.42&#x2266;y&#x2266;0.53, 0.45&#x2266;z&#x2266;0.56, and x+y+z=1.

Piezoelectric ceramic composition and laminated piezoelectric element

Manganese oxide and tantalum oxide are added to a piezoelectric ceramic composition based on lead zinc-niobate titanate zirconate. The composition is suitable for piezo-electric transformers since its mechanical quality factor (Qm) is improved without reducing its electromechanical coupling coefficient (k,), and good high-power properties and high mechanical strength are obtained. In another embodiment, manganese oxide and at least one of antimony oxide and niobium oxide are added to a piezoelectric ceramic composition based on lead zinc-niobate titanate zirconate.
