A data communication apparatus determines whether or not data are being transmitted, and receives the image data when data have been transmitted. Then, a plurality of address data of the sending side are obtained. Then, the obtained plurality of address data of the sending side are recorded in an address memory. Finally, the apparatus transmits its own plurality of address data to the obtained address of the sending side, and the reception process ends.

Multi-line communication apparatus and method of use

In an image processor on multi-level image data, an edge direction of a target pixel is discriminated from differences in density level between the target pixel and adjacent pixels thereof. A pixel is divided into a plurality of sub-pixels, and the image is formed in the unit of sub-pixels. The density level is set for each of the sub-pixels in the target pixel in accordance with the discrimination on the edge direction of the target pixel so that the center of gravity in density is changed in the target level. Then a character edge portion is reproduced more smoothly.

An image processor performs multilevel error diffusion processing and is provided with: a quantizing unit that quantizes pixel data constituting image information based on output values distributed at predetermined tone differences; an error detecting unit that detects a quantization error of the pixel data; a peripheral error calculating unit that integrates the quantization error of the pixel data detected by the error detecting unit with respect to a quantization error of peripheral pixel data; and an error superimposing unit that adds the integration error calculated by the peripheral error calculating unit to the pixel data input next. The image processor is further provided with: a random noise generating unit that generates random noise in accordance with the tone level of the input pixel data; and a noise superimposing unit that superimposes the random noise generated by the random noise generating unit on the pixel data.

The data communication apparatus of the present invention includes a CPU, operation panel, reading unit, image memory for storing read image data, resolution converter for converting stored image data to an optional resolution, telephone communication unit for transmitting data over a telephone line, network communication unit for transmitting data over an internet line, and a printing unit. The resolution converter converts fine detail data to low detail data and sends the low detail data to the telephone communication unit when transmitting data over the telephone line. In this way data reception reliably occurs simultaneously with data transmission. Thereafter, when fine detail request data including resolution data are received over the telephone line, the data are converted to the desired resolution, and sent to the network communication unit. In this way the apparatus attains excellent operationality since fine detail data are transmitted only as necessary.

This image input device has an image noise position detector for capturing image data from a scanner, and detecting the main scanning address of noise information corresponding to image noise present in the image data; a focus calculator for calculating focus information around the main scanning address detected by the image noise position detector; focus information storage for storing focus information for each subscanning line; and a foreign matter position determining circuit for determining the location of foreign matter on the scanner based on the focus information stored in the focus information storage.

The invention provides an image processing apparatus capable of reliably and quickly retrieving, from an image, a pattern (&ldquo;a layout pattern&rdquo;) including a plurality of elements and being specified based on the relative layout information among the elements. To retrieve the pattern from the image, the apparatus first detects two elements of the specific pattern giving a maximum distance therebetween, specifies positions where the other elements composing the layout pattern together with the two elements should be present based on the positional relationship between the two elements, and recognizes the layout pattern in the image when the other elements are accurately detected in the specified positions.

Image processing apparatus and method for recognizing specific pattern and recording medium having image processing program recorded thereon

The present invention provides an image processing apparatus capable of retrieving a specific pattern from an image at a high speed in an image recognizing processing. The apparatus creates a map image having pixels correspond to block regions of the image by one to one when retrieving a specific pattern from the image. Then, the apparatus labels each pixel of the map image based on feature of each block region of the image, detects a predetermined pattern specifying a region on the map image, specifies a block region on the original image corresponding to a position of the detected predetermined pattern on the map image, and retrieves the specific pattern in the specified block region.

A data communication apparatus which first searches a plurality of addresses recorded for an input transmission destination. A communication line is selected which is suited to the set mode. Then, a check is made to determine whether or not the address is present for the set communication line from among the searched plurality of transmission destination addresses, and when the address is not present, the communication line having the next prioritized ranking is set. Then, this series of processes is repeated until the applicable transmission destination is present. The data communication apparatus transmits the data to the destination address when the address of the set communication line is present.
