A display method, system, device, and related computer programs can present the classification performance of an artificial neural network in a form interpretable by humans. In these methods, systems, devices, and programs, a probability calculator (i.e., a classifier) based on an artificial neural network calculates a classification result for an input image in the form of a probability. The distribution of classification-result probabilities are displayed using at least one display axis of a graph as a probability axis.

A flow cytometer including a flow cell in which an imaging object flows; a laser beam irradiator configured to radiate laser beam; a camera including an image sensor of N&#xd7;M pixels; and an optical system configured to introduce the laser beam from the laser beam irradiator to imaging range of flow cell and to introduce signal light, such as transmitted, reflected or scattered light, from imaging range of flow cell, to camera. Optical system includes a mirror device that is placed on a Fourier plane of imaging optical system, that has at least one mirror specularly reflecting the signal light, and that is driven and rotated in conjunction with a flow in flow cell, such that each part of an image formed by the signal light is introduced into an identical pixel of the image sensor for at least a predetermined time period from a predetermined timing.

Provided are an irradiation device, a laser microscope system, an irradiation method, and a laser microscope detection method which can further widen a bandwidth of detection light as a multiplexed signal. Laser light beams are separated and enter a first AOD () and a second AOD () so that a plurality of first diffracted light beams and a plurality of second diffracted light beams with deflection angles and sizes of frequency shifts different from each other are generated. The first diffracted light beams and the second diffracted light beams are superposed by a beam splitter () so as to generate a plurality of interference light beams with beat frequencies different from each other. An objective lens () is formed by aligning a plurality of irradiation spots of interference light beam linearly in a main scanning direction and irradiates a sample (T) with the interference light beam. The irradiation spot is moved by oscillation of a scanning mirror () in a sub scanning direction orthogonal to the main scanning direction. Fluorescence emitted from the sample (T) by irradiation of each interference light beam is detected by a light detection unit ().

According to the present invention, a probe beam () having undergone dispersive Fourier transformation by a dispersive Fourier transformation unit is spatially mapped, an inspection object () is irradiated with the probe beam (), and transmitted light () from the inspection object () is detected, whereby an image is generated on the basis of the intensity of the transmitted light (). Accordingly, an imaging apparatus can be provided which can irradiate the inspection object () with the weak probe beam () having an intensity attenuated by the dispersive Fourier transformation unit, which can generate an image only by detecting the transmitted light () from the inspection object (), and which has a high throughput of generating images while an influence on the inspection object () is suppressed.

Provided is a Fourier transform-type spectroscopic device capable of improving an acquisition speed of a molecular vibration spectrum. The Fourier transform-type spectroscopic device () of the present invention rotates a scanning mirror () by rotation of a rotating shaft () to change a light path length of scanning light and delay or advance the scanning light with respect to reference light in accordance with a rotation angle of the scanning mirror () from an initial position, and is thus capable of moving the scanning mirror () at a high speed as compared with a case where a movable mirror is mechanically moved as in a conventional Fourier transform-type spectroscopic device, thereby improving an acquisition speed of a molecular vibration spectrum.

An apparatus and method for ultrafast real-time optical imaging that can be used for imaging dynamic events such as microfluidics or laser surgery is provided. The apparatus and methods encode spatial information from a sample into a back reflection of a two-dimensional spectral brush that is generated with a two-dimensional disperser and a light source that is mapped in to the time domain with a temporal disperser. The temporal waveform is preferably captured by an optical detector, converted to an electrical signal that is digitized and processed to provide two dimensional and three dimensional images. The produced signals can be optically or electronically amplified. Detection may be improved with correlation matching against a database in the time domain or the spatial domain. Embodiments for endoscopy, microscopy and simultaneous imaging and laser ablation with a single fiber are illustrated.

A barcode reading apparatus and method in which the spectrum of a probe light is first Fourier-transformed into space, directed upon a barcode, and then Fourier-transformed converting the spectrally encoded barcode pattern to a time domain waveform. In one implementation, the Fourier transformation from the spectrum domain into a spatial domain is performed by a dispersive element, while the Fourier transformation from the spectrally encoded barcode pattern to a time domain waveform is performed by group-velocity dispersion (GVD). The temporally encoded barcode pattern is detected by a photodetector, digitized by a digitizer, and analyzed by a digital signal processor. The invention is applicable to a number of fields which involve the reading of one- and two-dimensional barcodes, displacement sensing, surface measurements, measurement of width and gap, flow cytometry, reading of optical media, presense or absence detection, and other related fields.

Apparatus and method for dispersive fourier-transform imaging

Spectroscopic measurements are described based on light-molecule interaction in response to a resonant rate optical pulse train so that a Raman spectrum is reflected containing at least two types of vibrational mode information (e.g., vibrational frequency, and vibrational phase relaxation) on the molecules comprising the object. A pump optical pulse train generation means is configured for generating an optical pulse train having an arbitrary repetition rate which is directed through irradiation means to the sample object. Light from the sample object is collected and vibrational coherence is detected for the sample object. The sample is tested across a plurality of different repetition frequencies. The detected information can be compared with data from other known samples from within a database when analyzing the information collected.
