An electrophotographic member comprising a base layer and a surface layer, the surface layer including at least one of an acrylic resin and a methacrylic resin, perfluoropolyether having a specified structure and a fluorine-containing copolymer, the fluorine-containing copolymer having a first polymerized unit of at least one of methyl acrylate and methyl methacrylate, and a second polymerized unit of at least one of methyl acrylate having a fluoroalkyl group and methyl methacrylate having a fluoroalkyl group, a molar ratio between the first polymerized unit and the second polymerized unit being 7 to 12, the fluorine-containing copolymer having Mw of 80000 or more and 150000 or less, and the ratio between Mn and Mw (Mw/Mn) being 3.0 or more and 6.5 or less.

Electrophotographic member and electrophotographic image forming apparatus

An electrophotographic member capable of further reducing adhesion of a toner to an outer surface. The electrophotographic member comprises a base layer and a surface layer laminated in this order in a thickness direction of the electrophotographic member, the surface layer containing a binder resin, perfluoropolyether, and an ionic liquid, a content of the perfluoropolyether with respect to the binder resin being 20% by mass or more and 100% by mass or less, and a contact angle of a surface on a side of the surface layer that is opposite to a side facing the base layer with respect to hexadecane being 65&#xb0; or more.

An electrophotographic belt including at least a base layer and a surface layer on or above the base layer, the surface layer including a binder resin and perfluoropolyether (PFPE), having a thickness of 2 &#x3bc;m or more. An image forming apparatus is configured to form a toner image by a toner image forming portion on an intermediate transfer belt, to transfer the toner image to a transfer and fixing belt, and to form a toner film by heating and pressurizing the toner image on the transfer and fixing belt. The transfer and fixing belt includes an elastic layer and when the toner film is pressurized to a recording medium in a body at a toner film transfer portion, the toner film is pressed to the recording medium while following surficial ruggedness of the recording medium. Because the toner image is formed by using toner particles containing a thermoplastic elastomer having crystallinity, the toner film formed of this toner image is fully resilient.

Image forming apparatus

A fixing apparatus includes a back-up member contacting an inner surface of a cylindrical belt; a roller having an elastic layer and contacting an outer surface of the belt, the roller being cooperative with the back-up member to form a fixing nip between the belt and the roller. A sheet carrying a toner image is nipped and fed through the fixing nip, during which the unfixed toner image is heat-fixed thereon by the fixing nip. The back-up member includes a portion contactable with the inner surface and having such a configuration that the belt forms a first curved surface convex toward the roller in an upstream region in the fixing nip with respect to a moving direction of the belt and that the belt forms a second curved surface convex toward the back-up member in a downstream region in the fixing nip with respect to the moving direction.

Fixing apparatus

An image forming portion of an image forming apparatus is configured to form a toner image on a recording medium such that a relationship of M&#x2266;&#x3c1;&#x3c0;L/(30&#x221a;3) is satisfied, where a volume average particle size of toner is L (&#x3bc;m), density of the toners is &#x3c1; (g/cm), and a maximum toner laid quantity per unit area of a single color toner image on a recording medium is M (mg/cm). The toner image formed by the image forming portion is fixed on the recording medium by a fixing nip portion by being heated and applied a force in a direction of a plane of the recording medium.

A process for producing a glass substrate provided with an aluminum oxide-containing silicon oxide film, which comprises applying a coating liquid containing an organopolysiloxane and an organic aluminum complex to a glass substrate within a temperature range of from 400 to 650&#xb0; C. to form an aluminum oxide-containing silicon oxide film on the glass substrate, and a process for producing a glass substrate comprising forming molten glass into a glass ribbon, annealing the glass ribbon and cutting it to produce a glass substrate, wherein a coating liquid containing an organopolysiloxane and an organic aluminum complex is applied to the glass ribbon at a position where the glass ribbon is within a temperature range of from 400 to 650&#xb0; C. to form an aluminum oxide-containing silicon oxide film on the glass ribbon.

When an unfixed toner image is formed on a recording material, a maximum toner amount per unit area satisfies A&#x3c;(&#x3c1;&#x3a0;L)/30&#x221a;3, where a specific gravity of a toner is &#x3c1; (g/cm), a weight-average particle size is L (&#x3bc;m), and the toner amount per unit area of the unfixed toner image on the recording material is A (mg/cm), in formation of the unfixed toner image with each color toner, and the unfixed toner image is fixed so that a region where colors of chromatic toners of respective colors in the above-described images are seen in an overlaid state is 84% or more.
