A fuel jet adjusting plate has first nozzle holes arranged along a first circle coaxial with a central axis of a valve body and second nozzle holes arranged along a second circle coaxial with the central axis and having a diameter larger that the first circle. The second nozzle holes have an opening area smaller than that of the first nozzle holes. Thus, despite the fact that fuel flows at a lower rate upstream of inlet portions of the second nozzle holes than upstream of inlet portions of the first nozzle holes, it is possible to suitably atomize both the fuel spray injected through the first nozzle holes and the fuel spray injected through the second nozzle holes

Fuel injection valve for an internal combustion engine

A fuel jet adjusting plate has first nozzle holes arranged along a first circle coaxial with a central axis of a valve body and second nozzle holes arranged along a second circle coaxial with the central axis and having a diameter larger than that of the first circle. Each hole axis of the second nozzle holes forms an acute angle with a reference plane perpendicular to the central axis of the valve body smaller than that formed by each hole axis of the first nozzle holes with the reference plane. Hence, fuel sprays injected through the first nozzle holes can be directed away from fuel sprays injected through the second nozzle holes. As a result, the fuel sprays injected through the first nozzle holes do not interfere with the fuel sprays injected through the second nozzle holes, which makes it possible to suitably atomize injected fuel.

There is provided a fuel injection valve in which nozzle holes are formed on a metering plate and fuel flowing on a face of the metering plate on the upstream side is injected outside of a face of the metering plate on the downstream side through the nozzle holes. The fuel injection valve includes a vortex flow generator means for changing a flow of fuel passing in each nozzle hole into a vortex flow, wherein the vortex flow generator means is provided on the upstream side of the metering plate. The vortex flow means is a vortex flow generator groove provided on an upper face of the metering plate and connected with a wall face of an entrance of the nozzle hole, and a main stream of fuel flowing in the groove is directed to a position shifted from the center of the nozzle hole. Alternatively, the vortex flow means is a protrusion formed on an upper face of the metering plate. A flow of fuel is changed into a vortex flow in the nozzle hole and injected from the nozzle hole. Therefore, fuel can be excellently atomized and diffused as a megaphone-shape without being formed into a liquid column spray.

Fuel injection valve

A fuel injection valve, for an engine, comprising a nozzle body having a plurality of nozzle holes and a needle valve reciprocated in the nozzle body for controlling the inflow of the fuel into the nozzle holes is disclosed. The fuel is rendered to flow into the nozzle holes from a direction along the inner wall surface of the nozzle body around each of the nozzle holes in a first inflow mode, and from a direction substantially perpendicular to the inner wall surface of the nozzle body in a second inflow mode. The first inflow mode and the second inflow mode can be selectively switched to each other. The fuel is rendered to flow into the nozzle holes in the first inflow mode before the lapse of a predetermined time after the engine is started, and in the first or second mode as required after the lapse of the predetermined time.

A fuel supply device for an internal combustion engine having at least one cylinder that is formed in a cylinder block, a fuel injection valve and a fuel passage that supplies fuel to the fuel injection valve, includes a portion of the fuel passage that is formed as a delivery pipe that is embedded in a cylinder head and is joined to an upper portion of the cylinder block. The fuel injection valve is positioned so that it intersects the delivery pipe and receives the supply of fuel from the side at a portion that intersects with the delivery pipe, and a sealing member is positioned at the joint portion between the delivery pipe and the fuel injection valve.

Fuel supply device for internal combustion engine

A fuel pump for an internal combustion engine that transmits fuel with pressure by a lifting movement of a plunger that is caused to lift by a movement of a cam includes a lift amount changing mechanism. The lift amount changing mechanism includes a cam in which a height of a projection is varied along an axial direction of the camshaft, and a cam moving actuator that moves the cam along the axial direction of the camshaft. The lift amount of the plunger is changed by moving the cam along the axial direction of the camshaft. An amount of discharged fuel is controlled by changing the amount of discharged fuel per stroke of the plunger and is not determined only based upon the rotation speed of the engine. Therefore, the amount of discharged fuel can be increased with the engine rotated at a low speed, for example when the engine is being initially started, to improve a starting performance.

Fuel pump for an internal combustion engine

A fuel injection apparatus of an internal combustion engine includes a valve body movably disposed for back and forth movement in a fuel passage to open and close a fuel injection hole of the fuel injection apparatus. An armature is attached to the valve body. A valve-opening solenoid coil drives the armature in a valve-opening direction. A valve-closing solenoid coil drives the armature in a valve-closing direction. A controller that sets an overlap time, which is a time by which starting of electrifying of the valve-closing solenoid coil precedes stopping of electrifying of the valve-opening solenoid coil, controls the solenoid coils in accordance with a fuel pressure supplied to the fuel injection apparatus such that a valve-closing force on the valve body does not exceed an open valve holding force on the valve body prior to the time when stopping of the electrifying of the valve-opening solenoid coil occurs.

Internal combustion engine fuel injection apparatus and control method thereof

The fuel injection valve according to the present invention is a fuel injection valve adapted to inject a swirl flow of a high-pressure fuel from an injection port thereof. The injection port includes a fuel inlet portion and a fuel outlet portion. The fuel inlet portion has a cylindrical bore. In the fuel outlet portion, a circumference of an inlet thereof is joined to that of an outlet of the cylindrical bore, and the fuel outlet portion has a cross-sectionally elliptic chamfered part diverging from the inlet thereof to the outlet thereof. A depth of the chamfered part is set &frac14; to 2 times as large as a diameter of the fuel inlet portion.

A fuel supplying apparatus has a fuel pump for pumping fuel stored in a fuel tank. The fuel pump supplies fuel from the fuel tank to outside the fuel tank via a take-up portion having a fuel take-up opening that opens in the fuel in the fuel tank and a gas take-up opening that opens in a space formed above the fuel liquid surface in the fuel tank. Fuel vapor formed in the fuel tank can be supplied to outside the fuel tank without being released to the atmosphere, by using a minimal number of component elements.

A fuel injection valve is provided with an injection nozzle having an injection hole for fuel injection, a valve body for closing the injection hole, and an elastic body provided on one of a wall surface of the injection nozzle and a wall surface of the valve body. The elastic body is provided such that when the valve body closes the injection hole, the wall surface of the valve body comes into abutment with the wall surface of the injection nozzle after the valve body has come into abutment with the injection nozzle through the elastic body.

A fuel injector for an internal combustion engine is disclosed. The injector has a valve body, an injection hole which has a width larger than a height thereof, and a fuel reservoir on the downstream side of a seat portion of the valve body. The fuel reservoir has a side surface and a bottom surface. One part of the side surface imparts one velocity component oriented in the direction of width in the injection hole to the fuel flow along the one part of the side surface. Another part of the side surface imparts another velocity component oriented in the direction of width in the injection hole to the fuel flow along the another part of the side surface. The bottom surface is formed at right angles with the center axis of the injection hole. The injection hole is communicated with the fuel reservoir via the bottom surface thereof.

In a fuel injector for an internal combustion engine having an injection hole, a valve body, and a fuel reservoir on the downstream side of a seat portion of the valve body, the width of the injection hole is gradually narrowed inward at a predetermined included angle, an opening on the outer side of the injection hole has a width sufficiently larger than the height thereof. The tip of the fuel reservoir is communicated with the injection hole via a passage portion which has a uniform cross section. On each transverse plane within the height of the injection hole, the tip of the fuel reservoir has an arc shape, on the transverse plane passing through the center of the height of the injection hole, the tip of the fuel reservoir has a hemicircle shape and the vertex of the predetermined included angle is located on the upstream side of the center of the hemicircle shape.
