A chemical analyzer has a cold-storage chamber and a tape-feeding cassette which can be accommodated in the cold-storage chamber and is detachable therefrom. The cassette contains a chemical analysis tape and has an opening through which the tape can be taken out of the cassette. A section of the tape-feeding cassette inside of the opening is sealed off from the atmosphere and from other parts of the cassette. The tape passes through this section. This section is provided with air which has a relative humidity not higher than 70% such that the pressure therein is positive.

Chemical analyzer

A water-repellent liquid is held in a liquid-retainable outer surface of a liquid-retainable member. A tube is held so that a portion near its tip comes into contact with the liquid-retainable surfaces while the former is rotated relative to the latter. As the tube is rotated with respect to the liquid-retainable surface, a water-repellent surface is formed on an outer surface of the tube near its tip. Two liquid-retainable members may be provided so that the tube is rotated therebetween.

Method and apparatus for water-repellent processing of tube

A nozzle of a dispenser is filled with a coagulative liquid specimen. Then, the liquid is drawn into the dispenser such that a lower surface of the liquid is spaced from the lower end of the nozzle by a distance which is not smaller than the inner diameter of the nozzle. The liquid is maintained at this position before the next discharging operation is carried out to discharge a predetermined amount of coagulated test liquid onto a chemical assay slide for incubation of the test liquid.

Method of dispensing coagulative test liquid

A pipette device comprises a vertical housing, a cylinder member disposed at least in the lower section in the housing and urged upwardly so that the cylinder member is vertically slidable in the housing, a piston member urged upwardly and having a lower end portion vertically slidable in the cylinder member, and an engagement member for transmitting the downward movement of the piston member to the cylinder member. The engagement member engages the piston member with the cylinder member when the piston member moves down to an engagement position lower by a predetermined distance from the top position of the piston memer along the cylinder member, whereby the cylinder member is moved vertically together with the piston member against an upward urging force in the housing when the piston member is moved vertically between the engagement position and a position lower than the engagement position.

Pipette device

A sample liquid is sucked into a nozzle which is mounted at a front end of an arm. Then the arm is moved down to a position where the sample liquid is discharged from the nozzle so as to form a drop on the lower end of the nozzle. Thereafter the arm is further moved down at a speed not higher than 40 mm/sec to a position where the drop comes into contact with a chemical analysis element.

Liquid depositing device and method

A dual pipette device comprises a pair of housings joined rotatably around a vertically extending axis or disposed for lateral movement, a pair of cylinders disposed respectively at lower sections of the housings, a pair of piston members extending vertically, supported by the housings or the cylinders, and respectively having lower end portions vertically slideable in the cylinders, and dropping tip fitting sections disposed at lower end of the housings or the cylinders so that the dropping tip fitting sections communicate with the cylinders. The piston members are provided with a lock member for locking them to each other when the housings are rotated or laterally moved and the distance between the piston members becomes not larger than a predetermined distance, so that the piston members are vertically slideable integrally with each other.

Dual pipette device

An electrophotographic photosensitive material comprising an electrically conductive support and a photoconductive layer of amorphous silicon containing a silicon atom and a hydrogen atom and/or a halogen atom provided said support, which comprises a low-photoconductive overcoat layer of amorphous silicon containing a carbon atom in a ratio of 5 to 35 atomic % on said photoconductive layer.

Electrophotographic element with amorphous Si(C) overlayer

An electrophotographic light-sensitive material is described, comprising an electrically conductive support, an amorphous silicon photoconductive layer on the support, and a layer of amorphous material containing at least carbon and halogen atoms is provided on the photoconductive layer. This material is free from a serious reduction in resolving power as is encountered in conventional electrophotographic light-sensitive materials when they are exposed to corona discharge, particularly negative corona discharge under high temperature/humidity conditions.

Electrophotographic light-sensitive material

An electrophotographic photosensitive material comprising a conductive support having thereon, in succession, a photoconductive layer composed of an amorphous material containing silicon atom and a barrier layer mainly composed of carbon and silicon, nitrogen and silicon, or oxygen and silicon, and further on the barrier layer a surface improvement layer having a composition of carbon and silicon of from 0.70/1 to 0.95/1 by atomic ratio in carbon/carbon+silicon, and the composition ratio being larger than that of the barrier layer.

Amorphous silicon electrophotographic photosensitive materials

A recording material having high sensitivity and providing good image quality comprising a support having thereon a recording layer thermally deformable by exposure to high intensity radiation, which recording layer comprises (1) a vacuum deposited layer of at least one organic compound selected from the group consisting of organic carboxylic acids, organic carboxylic acid salts, organic carboxylic acid esters, aromatic sulfonic acids, organic acyclic sulfur compounds, nitrogen-containing heterocyclic compounds, sulfur-containing heterocyclic compounds, organic macromolecular compounds, dyes and pigments, or (2) a vacuum co-deposited layer of a mixture of (a) at least one of the organic compounds described above and (b) at least one inorganic material selected from the group consisting of a metal or a metal compound.

Recording material

A recording material comprising a support having thereon a layer containing (i) at least one metal and (ii) a layer containing one or more metal sulfides other than GeS, metal fluorides or metal oxides. A mono-layer mixture of (i) and (ii) may also be used.

A method for forming images which comprises imagewise exposing a recording element comprising a support having directly or on a subbing layer thereon, as a recording layer, a vacuum deposited layer containing at least about 20% by volume of an organic substance, adhering a strippable film on the surface of the recording layer prior to or after the imagewise exposure, and peeling apart the strippable film from the recording layer after the imagewise exposure, whereby the exposed areas of the recording layer remain on the support and the non-exposed areas are transferred onto the strippable film.

Method for forming images

A process for producing a sheet-like material having a vapor-deposited metallic layer thereon, which comprises vapor depositing a layer of a metal, a layer of different metals in contact with each other, a layer of a metal alloy, a layer of a metal and a metal compound in contact with each other or a layer of a metal compound as the metallic layer on a support of a polymeric material having a glass transition temperature of at least about 0.degree. C., a composite of said polymeric material and paper, woven or non-woven cloth, or paper using at least one member selected from the group consisting of metals, metal alloys and metal compounds as an evaporating material in the vapor depositing, and then forming a layer of an organic material on the metallic layer by vapor deposition using an evaporable organic material as an evaporating material in the vapor depositing.

Process for producing a material having a vapor-deposited metal layer,

A recording material comprising a support having thereon a layer contaning (i) at least one metal and (ii) a layer containing one or more metal sulfides other than GeS, metal fluorides or metal oxides. A mono-layer mixture of (i) and (ii) may also be used.

A method for producing a relief pattern comprising forming one of (i) a silver image, (ii) a silver halide image, or (iii) an image obtained by toning and/or intensifying the silver image or silver halide image, in the emulsion layer of a photographic light-sensitive material which comprises a support having thereon at least one silver halide emulsion layer, either directly or on at least one subbing layer on the support, by image-wise exposing to light and developing, heating the photographic material to decompose the binder of the emulsion layer, and then ion-etching the photographic material to form a relief pattern of the support corresponding to the above-described image.
