A discharge valve is incorporated into a scroll compressor for use in a refrigerator or an air conditioner. A valve element seating surface having a concave cylindrical shape is formed in the upper surface of the stationary disk of the stationary scroll plate of the scroll compressor, a discharge port is formed through the stationary disk of the stationary scroll plate so as to open in the valve element seating surface, and a discharge valve element having a cylindrical shape conforming to the concave cylindrical shape of the valve element seating surface is seated on the valve element seating surface so as to open or close the discharge port. The valve element seating surface having a concave cylindrical shape facilitates machining the stationary scroll plate, reduces the top clearance of the scroll compressor without reducing the rigidity of the stationary disk, prevents the concentration of stress on the delivery valve, and improves the reliability of the delivery valve.

Delivery valve for a scroll compressor

A multicylinder rotary compressor has a plurality of cylinders housing rolling pistons which are rotated inside the cylinders by a common crankshaft. Each cylinder has a separate suction pipe. At least one of the suction pipes has a check valve which may be closed to unload the cylinder to which the suction pipe is connected. The check valve has a housing and a slider which can slide inside the housing between an open position and a closed position. The check valve may be closed by introduction of high-pressure refrigerant gas into the space beneath the slider to push it to the closed position when a cylinder is to be unloaded. In another form of the invention, the check valve is closed by a spring made of a shape-memory alloy and a heater for heating the spring above a prescribed temperature at which the allow changes shape. When a cylinder is to be unloaded, the heater is turned on, and the shape-memory alloy deforms into a shape such as to force the slide to the closed position. Lubricating oil may be provided to an unloaded cylinder.

Multicylinder rotary compressor

A refrigerating cycle apparatus of an improved operating efficiency, which is constructed, in combination, with: a refrigerant circuit including an evaporator, a compressor, a condenser, a first throttle, an economizer for separating the refrigerant into a gas phase and a liquid phase, and a second throttle, all these component elements being interconnected in the order as mentioned; and a piping for the economizer, which connects the gas phase portion of the economizer and an intermediate pressure region of the compressor, wherein the length of the economizer is set in such a value that is greater than the values to be determined from a Mollier's diagram on the basis of the operating conditions for the refrigerating cycle apparatus for the increase in the cooling or warming capability as well as the increase in the coefficient of performance.

A hermetic motor compressor including a closed housing which covers motor and compressor means; and a partition wall which separates a lower temperature compartment in which at least part of a motor is held and a recycling coolant is fed through an inlet port formed on said housing; and a higher temperature compartment in which a compressor and a coolant muffler and a loop part of an outlet pipe are held.
