A vibration damper that damp vibrations transmitted between a drive unit and a support body. The vibration damper comprises: an elastic member interposed between the drive unit and the support body; a rotor supported by the drive unit or the support body; and a vibration translating mechanism that rotates the rotor and reciprocates the rotor between the drive unit and the support body, in response to the vibrations acting in a vibrating direction to isolate the drive unit and the support body away from each other and bring the drive unit and the support body closer together.

Vibration damper

An internal combustion engine with a turbocharger includes a catalyst, downstream of a turbine, in an exhaust passage. The internal combustion engine includes a waste gate, and a waste gate valve. The internal combustion engine further includes a flow-adjusting member or a flow-adjusting mechanism. The flow-adjusting member disperses a flow of exhaust gas from the waste gate when the opening degree of the waste gate valve is small and concentrates the flow when the opening degree of the waste gate valve is large. The flow-adjusting mechanism switches between a dispersed state in which the flow is dispersed and a concentrate state in which the flow is concentrated.

Internal combustion engine with turbocharger

A mechanical supercharging system includes a stepped transmission that connects a crankshaft of an internal combustion engine with driving wheels, a centrifugal supercharger including a rotary drive shaft connected to the crankshaft, a variable speed ratio device that changes a speed ratio of the rotary drive shaft to the crankshaft, the variable speed ratio device being provided between the crankshaft and the rotary drive shaft; and a control device configured to control the speed ratio. The control device increases the speed ratio during the upshift operation more than the speed ratio before start of the upshift operation.

Mechanical supercharging system

In a compressor for a supercharger of an internal combustion engine comprising a shroud, an impeller, a vaneless diffuser, and a scroll, a hub-side wall of the vaneless diffuser is formed to be inclined to the opposite side to a shroud-side wall with respect to a direction perpendicular to a rotational axis of the impeller in the longitudinal cross section including the rotational axis of the impeller. With such a configuration, the amount of deposit formed on the hub-side wall of the vaneless diffuser is reduced.

Compressor for supercharger of internal combustion engine

A supercharged internal combustion engine is provided that is capable of introducing EGR gas into an intake passage on an upstream side relative to a compressor. When a required WGV opening degree is less than a lower limit value WGVmin in a case in which introduction of EGR gas is started under a situation in which the temperature of an EGR valve is less than or equal to a predetermined value X, the WGV opening degree is controlled during a protection time period Tafter introduction of EGR gas starts by using the lower limit value WGVmin as the required WGV opening degree.

Supercharged internal combustion engine

It is possible to suppress fluctuations of an air intake amount when the open degree of an air intake control valve is unknown. An engine includes an impulse valve common to all the cylinders arranged in the engine. The impulse valve is arranged in a communicating tube provided at the downstream side of a serge tank. An ECU executes impulse valve drive control. In the control, the ECU judges whether a rotation angle sensor which detects the open degree of the impulse valve has failed. If it is judged that the rotation angle sensor has failed, the ECU controls a drive motor and a drive circuit for driving a valve body so that a valve body of the impulse valve rotates inside the communicating tube. Here, the rotor of the drive motor which defines the rotation speed of the valve body has an rpm which is set in accordance with the mechanical rpm NE of the engine.

Apparatus for controlling a vehicle

A pressure accumulation system for an internal combustion engine can prevent exhaust pressure from excessively increasing when pressurized gas is contained in a pressure accumulation container. A pressure accumulation system is applied for an internal combustion engine provided with an exhaust shut-off valve mounted in an exhaust path. The pressure accumulation system has a pressure accumulation tank into which gas can be introduced from that portion of an exhaust path. The pressure accumulation system also has a sensor for detecting the exhaust pressure, and an EGR valve is controlled based on the detection value from the exhaust gas sensor such that the pressure in that portion of the exhaust path which is on the upstream of the exhaust shut-off valve is limited below a predetermined exhaust gas upper limit value (Pmax) when gas is contained in the pressure accumulation tank.

A cetane number estimating device () comprises cylinders which are provided to an internal combustion engine where a part of the exhaust gas can be fed back from the exhaust system to the intake system, injection device () for injecting fuel into the cylinders, measuring device () for measuring the ignition timings in the cylinders, and estimating device () for estimating the cetane number of the fuel according to the measured ignition timing as well as any one of a first correlation between the ignition timing corresponding to the stage at which when one cylinder is in the intake stroke, another cylinder in the exhaust stroke exhausts non-burned gas and the cetane number and a second correlation between the ignition timing corresponding to the stage at which when one cylinder is in the intake stroke, another cylinder exhausts burned gas and the cetane number.

A fuel management system mounted on a vehicle is operative to feed individually or a mixture of grades of relatively low, intermediate, and high autoignition temperature fuels to an associated internal combustion engine. The system includes an on board separation unit (OBS unit) for receiving and separating intermediate autoignition temperature (IAT) fuel into low and high autoignition temperature fuels, LAT and HAT, respectively. The production rate of the LAT and HAT fuels by the OBS unit is controlled to substantially match the consumption requirements of the engine at any given time for the LAT and HAT fuels.

A method of operating an internal combustion engine having an; electromagnetically driven intake valves for a vehicle. With the method, deviation of an opening operation of the electromagnetically driven intake valve in response to a command signal for opening the intake valve from a predetermined characteristic is detected, and at least one of parameters used for controlling operation of the internal combustion engine is corrected so as to reduce a change in an intake air charging state in which the internal combustion engine is charge with the intake air. A valve closing timing of the intake valve or a valve closing timing of the exhaust valve that cooperates with the intake valve may be used as parameters to be corrected.

Method of operating internal combustion engine including electromagnetically driven intake valves

The invention relates to a control device for an engine able to control at least one of an intake valve and an exhaust valve via a driving mechanism actuated without a torque from an output shaft of the engine, and a transmission connected to the engine. The control device includes a torque transmitting device for reducing the torque from the engine while that torque is being transmitted to an output shaft of the transmission, and control means for controlling the torque transmitting device so as to reduce the torque transmitted from the engine to the output shaft of the transmission during an upshift, controlling a engine speed to a target speed after shifting during the unshift, and controlling the torque transmitting device so as to increase the torque transmitted to the output shaft of the transmission after the engine speed is synchronized with the speed after shifting.
