A viscosity/elasticity measurement device includes a container for containing a measurement target material for detection of viscosity/elasticity is contained, a floating rotor made of material including a conductor, formed in a plate and circular shape when seen in plan view, and configured to be floated on a surface of the measurement target material, a magnet applying a magnetic field to the floating rotor in a direction perpendicular to a surface of the measurement target material, a rotational magnetic field control unit driving the magnet to apply a rotational magnetic field to the floating rotor, inducing an induction current in the conductor, and applying rotational torque to the floating rotor to rotate by Lorentz interaction between the induction current and the magnetic field applied to the floating rotor, and a viscosity detection unit detecting the viscosity/elasticity of the measurement target material based on a rotation state of the floating rotor.

Fluid mechanical property measurement method and measurement device

A conductive rotator is immersed in a sample liquid in a sample container. A magnet is arranged at a specific distance from the rotation plane of the rotator in a direction of a rotating axis of the rotator so as to face the sample container. The magnet applies a magnetic field to the rotator from the outside of the sample container. A fluctuating magnetic field drive unit drives the magnet to apply the magnetic field that fluctuates in term of time to the rotator. Induced current is excited in the rotator by the fluctuating magnetic field. A rotating torque is provided to the rotator by the Lorenz interaction between the induced current and the fluctuating magnetic field, and as a result, the rotator rotates in the rotation plane. A viscosity detecting unit obtains the viscosity of the sample liquid based on a rotating state of the rotator and a time-fluctuating state of the fluctuating magnetic field.

A method for detecting defects on an object includes an illumination optical unit which obliquely projects a laser focused onto a line on a surface of the object and white-color, a table unit which mounts the specimen and which is movable, a detection optical unit which detects with an image sensor an image of light formed by light reflected from the object and passed through a filter which blocks diffraction light resulting from patterns formed on the object, a signal processor which processes a signal outputted from the image sensor of the detection optical unit to extract defects of the object, and a display unit which displays information of defects extracted by the signal processor. A method for detecting defects on a specimen includes mounting a specimen on a table with which is movable, obliquely projecting a laser as a line onto a surface of the specimen, detecting with an image sensor an image of light formed by light reflected from the specimen and passed through a filter which blocks scattered light resulting from repetitive patterns formed on the specimen, processing a signal outputted from the image sensor to extract defects of the specimen, and a displaying information of defects extracted by the signal processor.

An electrode material for an electrochemical device comprising a composite of a particulate conductive material and a metal oxide is prepared by mixing and dispersing the particulate conductive material with a colloidal solution of an oxide of an element in a range of from Group 3 to Group 12 in the fourth, fifth and sixth periods of the Periodic Table and heating the mixture. This composite has a high capacity even at a high current density and good filling properties, and is useful as an electrode material for an electrochemical device such as a lithium secondary battery or an electrochemical capacitor. When the electrode material comprising this composite is used, an electrode can be produced without any binder, and the electrochemical device having good output characteristics can be constructed.

In order to accurately measure a shape feature of a minute droplet arranged on a substrate by a simple method, with respect to the droplet, the substrate is perpendicularly irradiated with laser light to cause diffracted light fluxes generated during passage of the laser light through the droplet to interfere with each other, so that a diffraction pattern is obtained. The diffraction pattern formed on a screen of a detector as an image is picked up by an image pickup apparatus. The shape feature of the droplet is measured by using the resultant diffraction pattern and a refractive index of the droplet.

A defect inspection apparatus includes an illumination optical unit for obliquely illuminating an object with a slit-like shaped laser, a first detection optical unit for detecting a first image formed by light reflected from the object by the illumination of the slit-like shaped laser and reflected in a first direction substantially normal to a surface of the object, a second detection optical unit for detecting a second image formed by light reflected from the object by the illumination of the slit-like shaped laser and reflected in a second direction inclined to the normal direction to the surface of the object, an image signal processing unit which processes a signal outputted from the first detection optical unit and a signal outputted from the second detection optical unit, and an output unit which outputs information processed by the image signal processing unit.

A defect inspection method includes radiating an illumination slit-shaped beam having lights substantially parallel to a longitudinal direction to a substrate having circuit patterns in a direction inclined at a predetermined gradient relative to the direction of a line normal to the substrate and inclined at a predetermined gradient on a surface with respect to a group of main straight lines of the circuit patterns with its longitudinal direction oriented almost perpendicularly to a direction of a movement of the substrate. Scattered light reflected by a defect such as a foreign particle existing on the illuminated substrate is received and converted into a detection signal by using an image sensor, and defect judging is effected of an extracted a signal indicating a defect such as a foreign particle on the basis of the detection signal output.
