Disclosed is to provide with an optical recording medium of a write-once type in which an excellent recording characteristic can be obtained over low speed recording to high speed recording. In an optical recording medium having a recording layer that contains an organic dye, the recording layer is configured to have at least an organic dye expressed by a general formula shown in the following chemical formula 1 (in this formula, R1 represents an alkyl group of carbon number 1 through 4, R2 and R3 represent respectively an alkyl group of carbon number 1 through 4 and a benzyl group or group forming three to six-member ring by coupling, each of Y1 and Y2 represents independently an organic group, and X represents ClO, FB, PF, and SbF) and an organic dye expressed by a general formula shown in the following chemical formula 2 (in this formula, R1 and R4 represent an alkyl group of carbon number 1 through 4, R2 and R3 represent respectively an alkyl group of carbon number 1 through 4 and a benzyl group or group forming three to six-member ring by coupling, each of Y1 and Y2 represents independently an organic group, and X represents ClO, FB, PF, and SbF). 

Optical recording medium and optical recording-reproducing method using thereof

An optical recording medium comprises a transmission substrate and a recording layer formed on the transmission substrate, the recording layer containing at least a dye material expressed by a general formula shown at the following chemical formula (in the chemical formula 1, R1 represents alkyl group having carbon numbers 1 to 4, R2, R3 represent alkyl group having carbon numbers 1 to 4, benzyl group or groups combined to form 3 to 6 rings, Y1 and Y2 independently represent organic groups and X represent ClO, BF, PF, SbF) and a dye material expressed by a general formula represented by the following chemical formula 2(in the chemical formula 2, R1 and R2 represent alkyl groups having carbon numbers 1 to 4, benzyl groups or groups combined to form 3 to 6 rings, Y1, Y2 independently represent organic groups and X represent ClO, BF, PF, SbF):  In a write once type optical recording medium such as DVD&#x2212;R and DVD+R, satisfactory recording characteristics can be obtained from low-speed recording to high-speed recording.

Optical recording medium

A heat-sensitive recording material, comprising a heat-sensitive recording layer containing at least one acid hydrazide compound represented by the following general formula (I): ##STR1## wherein X.sub.1 and X.sub.2 each independently represent a hydrogen atom, a hydroxyl group, a halogen atom or an alkyl group or alkoxy group having 1 to 10 carbon atoms, A represents --CO-- or --SO.sub.2 --, n is 1 or 2, when n is 1, R.sub.1 represents an alkyl group, an aryl group, a hydroxyaryl group, an alkoxyaryl group, or an alkylaryl group having 1 to 22 carbon atoms and when n is 2, R.sub.1 represents an alkylene group or arylene group having 1 to 18 carbon atoms or a direct bond.

Heat-sensitive recording material

The heat-sensitive recording material of the present invention comprises a heat-sensitive recording layer containing at least one resorcylic anilide derivative represented by the following general formula: ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 represents an alkyl or alkoxy, group having 1 to 4 carbon atoms and R.sub.2 represents a hydrogen atom or an alkyl or alkoxy group having 1 to 4 carbon atoms.

A heat-sensitive recording material wherein a color-forming layer comprising a coupling substance which is usually colorless or light-colored and a developer which gives rise to color in the coupling substance upon heating further contains, as a sensitizer, a tetrahydronaphthalene compound of the following general formula (I): ##STR1## wherein X represents an alkylene group, --O--CO--O--, --O--CO-- or --O--R'.sub.n Y--, n represents 1 or 2, Y represents --O-- or --S--, R' represents an alkylene group, and R represents a phenyl, alkylphenyl or tetrahydronaphthyl group.

A heat-sensitive recording material wherein 1,2-bis(3,4-dimethylphenyl)ethane is contained as a sensitizer in a color-forming layer comprising a usually colorless or light-colored coupling substance and a developer which causes coloring of the coupling substance upon heating.

An optical recording material having excellent light stability, shelf stability and solubility in a solvent comprises, as an indispensable constituent, a compound of the following general formula: ##STR1## wherein R represents a cycloalkyl group having 3 to 12 carbon atoms, X.sup.- represents a halide anion, a perchlorate anion or a quencher anion, rings A and B each represent a benzene or naphthalene ring which may be substituted with a halogen atom, and n represents 1 to 4.

Optical recording material

A heat-sensitive recording material which comprises a usually colorless or light-colored coloring material together with one or more compounds selected from among bissulfonate compounds, 2-substituted cyclohexyl sulfonate derivatives and biscycloalkyl aryldisulfonate derivatives.
