A lubricating oil composition for a power transmission system, which is excellent in both of low-temperature viscosity property and shear stability, is provided. The viscosity modifier of a lubricating oil for a power transmission system according to the present invention comprises an ethylene/&#x3b1;-olefin copolymer (B) having the properties: (B1) an ethylene content in the range of 70 to 85% by mol, (B2) an intrinsic viscosity [&#x3b7;] in the range of 0.2 to 1.0 dl/g, (B3) Mw/Mn not more than 2.4, and (B4) a melting point, as measured by DSC, not higher than 60&#xb0; C., or no melting point observed.

Viscosity modifier of lubricating oil for power transmission system and lubricating oil composition for power transmission system

The present invention is a polyolefin polymer containing vinyl groups at both ends thereof, and a composition and a molded product containing the polymer, wherein the polymer contains a constitutional unit derived from at least one selected from the group consisting of ethylene (a), an &#x3b1;-olefin (b) having 3 to 20 carbon atoms, and a cyclic olefin (c), and The polymer of the present invention may be molded by a LIM molding, an injection molding, a transfer molding, a compression molding, and the like, and is excellent in acid resistance, gas permeation resistance, hydrolysis resistance, and dynamic fatigue resistance. From the polymer, a thermoplastic resin composition and a crosslinkable resin composition, and a crosslinked composition having excellent mechanical characteristics are obtained.

Polyolefin polymer containing vinyl groups at both ends and composition thereof

Disclosed is a thermoplastic elastomer composition containing 10-60 parts by weight of a non-crosslinkable crystalline polyolefin resin (A), 1-30 parts by weight of a specific propylene 1-butene random copolymer (B) and 89-10 parts by weight of an ethylene &#x3b1;-olefin non-conjugated polyene copolymer rubber (C) which is composed of ethylene, an &#x3b1;-olefin having 3-20 carbon atoms and a non-conjugated polyene, in such amounts that the total of the components (A), (B) and (C) is 100 parts by weight. The thermoplastic elastomer composition is dynamically crosslinked by an extruder. This thermoplastic elastomer is excellent in moldability and economic efficiency, and enables to obtain a molded body exhibiting sufficient adhesion strength to a vulcanized rubber or thermoplastic elastomer without the intermediation of an adhesive layer, as well as a lightweight molded body having sufficient hardness and rubber elasticity.

Thermoplastic elastomer composition

A viscosity modifier for lubricating oils or an additive composition for lubricating oils, which is excellent in oil-thickening properties and can provide lubricating oil compositions excellent in low-temperature characteristics and handleability at low temperatures; and lubricating oil compositions excellent in low-temperature characteristics and handleability at low temperatures. The viscosity modifier comprises an ethylene/&#x3b1;-olefin copolymer (B) which comprises (i) a structural unit derived from ethylene, (ii) a structural unit derived from an &#x3b1;-olefin having 3 to 19 carbon atoms, and (iii) a structural unit derived from a higher &#x3b1;-olefin having 4 to 20 carbon atoms whose carbon number is by one or more larger than that of the &#x3b1;-olefin having the unit (ii) which has the following properties of (1) and (2): (1) the contents of units (i), (ii) and (iii) are 25-49 mol %, 15-55 mol %, and 9-40 mol % respectively (with the proviso that the total of the units (i), (ii), and (iii) is 100 mol %) and (2) the intrinsic viscosity [&#x3b7;] is 0.5 to 5.0 dl/g.

Viscosity modifier for lubricating oils, additive composition for lubricating oils, and lubricating oil compositions

A novel olefin-based polymer has excellent thermal resistance, as well as excellent balance among various properties. The olefin-based polymer is an olefin-based polymer comprising 50 to 100% by weight of a constituent unit derived from 4-methyl-1-pentene, and 0 to 50% by weight of a constituent unit derived from at least one olefin selected from olefins having 2 to 20 carbon atoms except 4-methyl-1-pentene, and having the following properties: i) the diad isotacticity is 70% or greater, ii) the ratio (Mw/Mn) of the weight average molecular weight (Mw) to the number average molecular weight (Mn) as measured by gel permeation chromatography (GPC) is in the range of 1.0 to 3.5, and iii) the intrinsic viscosity [&#x3b7;] is 0.5 (dl/g) or greater.

(i) A material is developed which modifies the rigidity, tensile elongation at break and impact resistance of resins such as a polypropylene resin when used as a modifier. The invention relates to an ethylene type ternary copolymer (A) comprising (i) an ethylene, propylene or 1-butene and a higher &#x3b1;-olefin having 6 to 20 carbon atoms, wherein the content of ethylene is 70 to 89 mol %, the content of propylene or 1-butene is 10 to 22 mol % and the content of a higher &#x3b1;-olefin having 6 to 20 carbon atoms is 1 to 11 mol % and the molar ratio of the higher-olefin having 6 to 20 carbon atoms to the structural units except for ethylene (either propylene or 1-butene and the higher &#x3b1;-olefin having 6 to 20 carbon atoms) is 1/10 to 5/10 and the ethylene type ternary copolymer has a density of 0.857 to 0.885 g/cm. The invention also relates to (ii) a propylene type resin composition comprising a propylene type polymer (B), the ethylene type ternary copolymer (A) and an inorganic filler (C).

Olefin block copolymer, viscosity index improver for lubricating oils and lubricating oil composition

A silicon-containing olefin copolymer is provided which comprises (a) a constituent unit derived from &#x2014;CH&#x2014;CH&#x2014; such as ethylene, (b) a constituent unit derived from &#x2014;CH&#x2014;CHR&#x2014; where R is a hydrocarbon group of 1 to 18 carbon atoms, and (c) a constituent unit containing a specific silicon-containing group. An ethylene-based copolymer is useful as a modifier for resins, e.g., polypropylene, and can be used in an ethylene/&#x3b1;-olefin copolymer composition containing the same ethylene-based copolymer.
