When an image file exists in a folder determined to be the source of a file transfer according to the nth entry of file transfer data, a free space determining unit provided in an image processing device determines whether a work area on the hard disk meets or exceeds a required capacity. If the work area meets or exceeds the required capacity, a FTP client requests an FTP server to transfer the image file. As a result, an image file in a folder that is identified by the nth entry of the file transfer data to be the source of the transfer is transferred to a hot folder identified by the file transfer data to be the destination. Hence, by reliably allocating a work area required for image processing on the hard disk that accommodates the hot folder, it is possible to increase the stability of image processing without stalls and failures in the processing.

Data file transfer controlling device

A RIP() calculates total line number of print data when converting original data to the print data. When a printer () is requested by the RIP to send a printed line number, the printer () detects the physical position of a print head () using a sensor () calculates a printed line number, and transmits the obtained printed line number to the RIP (). The RIP () notifies a user of progress of print operations based on the total line number and the received printed line number.

Print system capable of inform user of progress of print operations

A print system has: a client apparatus for outputting print data; a printer server apparatus for receiving the print data from the client apparatus, and controlling an output of the print data received from the client apparatus in time; and a printer apparatus for receiving the print data from the printer server apparatus, converting the print data received from the printer server apparatus and printing the converted print data. The printer apparatus has a print property and converts and prints the print data received from the printer server apparatus according to the print property. The printer server apparatus has: a receiving device for receiving the print data from the client apparatus; a spooling device for temporarily storing the print data received by the receiving device; an output control device for controlling the output of the print data stored in the spooling device in time, depending on whether or not the printer apparatus is ready to receive the print data; a storage device for storing a printer description file in which information representing the print property of the printer apparatus is described; and an update device for updating the printer description file stored in the storage device when the print property of the printer apparatus is changed.

A data output apparatus includes: a storage device in which a first storage area is formed in advance; a first receiving device for receiving a parameter set for setting a condition of the output process, and storing the received parameter set into the first storage area; a forming device for forming a second storage area in the storage device, and linking the formed second storage area with the received parameter set; a second receiving device for receiving a data set, and storing the received data set into the second storage area; a processing device for identifying the parameter set linked with the second area in which the received data set is stored, setting the condition of the output process according to the identified parameter set, and processing the received data set according to the output process whose condition is set by the identified parameter set; and an output device for outputting the processed data set.

Data output method and apparatus having stored parameters

An outline font data is converted into dot data, based on which a dot image is printed. When an image represented by the outline font data has a very narrow portion or very steep end portion, whether or not dots have been prepared at picture elements surrounding that portion is examined. Then, a dot is prepared at a position that can smoothly connect those dots. Even at this narrow portion, no dots will strangely protrude from the entire shape of the produced dot image.
