A device for driving a vehicle including an engine that serves as a power source of the vehicle, and a transmission that is connected to the engine, the engine and the transmission being arranged transversely such that an axial direction of an output shaft of the engine accords with a right-left direction of the vehicle includes a motor generator (MG) that serves as a power source of the vehicle, and a speed reducer that is connected to the MG. The MG and at least a part of the speed reducer are arranged outside of an engine compartment that accommodates the engine and the transmission. An output shaft of the speed reducer is connected to a power transmission system, which transmits power of an output shaft of the transmission to a drive shaft of a vehicle wheel to be capable of transmitting its power to the power transmission system.

A double-stator rotating electric machine includes a rotor, an outer stator disposed radially outside the rotor with an outer gap formed therebetween, and an inner stator disposed radially inside the rotor with an inner gap formed therebetween. The outer stator has an outer multi-phase coil wound thereon, and the inner stator has an inner multi-phase coil wound thereon. Moreover, the inner gap formed between the inner stator and the rotor is set to be larger than the outer gap formed between the outer stator and the rotor.

Double-stator rotating electric machine

In a multi-gap rotating electric machine, a side stator coil is received in a side space formed in a housing to connect radially inner and radially outer stator coils across a rotor. A cooling oil flow adjustment member is provided to adjust flow of cooling oil in the side space. The adjustment member has cooling oil guide channels formed on an uneven surface thereof facing the side stator coil. When viewed along a central axis of a rotating shaft: on an upper apart of the uneven surface which is located above the central axis, the cooling oil guide channels spread from a reference line to both sides of the reference line while extending downward; and on a lower part of the uneven surface which is located below the central axis, the cooling oil guide channels converge on the reference line from both sides of the reference line while extending downward.

A rotating electrical machine has a housing, a stator having a stator core and a rotor having a rotor core and rotor side plates rotatably supported by the housing. The rotor core is arranged to have a gap between the end surfaces of the rotor core and the stator. Oil containers are arranged on at least one surface of the rotor side plate. Each oil container has a scoop-up part and an exhaust outlet formed on end sections thereof. When the rotor is rotating, the scoop-up part scoops up an oil stored in the housing, the oil and inside air are compressed in the oil container, and the exhaust outlet exhausts the oil and compressed air to the coil end of the stator. The housing stores the oil at a lowermost side thereof so that the scoop-up part and the exhaust outlet are immersed in the oil.

A rotating electric machine includes a weld formed by welding end portions of a pair of electric conductors for forming a coil and a weld-insulating member that covers, at least, a surface of the weld. The weld has an uneven portion formed on at least part of the surface thereof. The uneven portion is constituted of a plurality of annular recesses and a plurality of annular protrusions. The annular recesses are formed alternately and continuously with the annular protrusions.

An electric rotary machine includes a stator, which Is fixed to a housing, composed of a stator core having a coil end protruding at an end face of the stator core, a rotor core formed by laminating core sheets, and a rotor having a pair of rotor side-plates sandwiching both end faces of the rotor core. The rotor core is rotatably supported in the housing facing an inner peripheral surface of the stator with a gap between the rotor core and the stator. Either one or both of the rotor side-plates has a concave surface in an outer surface of the side-plate that does not abut the rotor core. An axial distance from the end face of the rotor core to the concave surface increases from an inner diameter side to an outer diameter side.

A rotor securing arrangement for directly or indirectly securing a rotor to a shaft. The rotor has at least one through hole along a axial direction of the rotor. A second hole diameter of the at least one through hole at either or both of axial ends of the rotor is greater than a first hole diameter of the at least one through hole at a portion other than the axial ends of the rotor. The rotor securing arrangement includes a first securing member corresponding to the first hole diameter of the at least one through hole, and a second securing member corresponding to the second hole diameter of the at least one through hole. The first securing member is configured to directly or indirectly secure the rotor to the shaft with at least a portion of the second securing member between the first securing member and the rotor.

Rotor securing arrangement and rotating electric machine having the same

A double-stator electric rotating machine with a retainer. The retainer includes a connector which joints between an outer stator and an inner stator. The retainer is placed in contact with an outer peripheral surface of the outer stator and an inner peripheral surface of the inner stator to retain the outer and inner stators together. Specifically, the retainer works to join the outer stator and the inner stator together and also to tightly hold the outer periphery of the outer stator and the inner periphery of the inner stator, thus minimizing misalignment of the outer and inner stators in axial and radial directions there of.

A multi-gap type rotary electric machine is provided, where the machine is provided a shaft supported rotatably by a baring secured to a housing. An annular rotor is secured to the shaft and configured to rotate together with the shaft. Double stators are secured to the housing and configured to have gaps between the stators and the rotor. Relationships of:3.5&#x3c;13/6&#x2003;&#x2003;(1) and7/6&#x3e;1&#x2003;&#x2003;(2)are met, where P6 denotes a circumferential width of each of outer salient poles, P7 denotes a circumferential width of each of inner salient poles, and P13 denotes a circumferential width of each of the outer magnets.

Multi-gap type rotary electric machine including inner and outer stators and a rotor with inner and outer magnets

A double-stator rotating electric machine includes a rotor and a pair of outer and inner stators. The outer stator has a first multi-phase coil wound thereon so as to form magnetic poles upon energization of the first multi-phase coil. The inner stator has a second multi-phase coil wound thereon so as to form magnetic poles upon energization of the second multi-phase coil. The number of the magnetic poles formed by the outer stator is equal to the number of the magnetic poles formed by the inner stator. Each of the magnetic poles formed by the outer stator is located at the same circumferential position as and has an opposite polarity to a corresponding one of the magnetic poles formed by the inner stator. The rotor has yoke portions each of which radially extends so as to form a magnetic flux passage magnetically connecting the outer and inner stators.

A rotor includes a rotor core and permanent magnets. The rotor core includes annular bodies that are stacked in a stacking direction and each formed of core segments arranged along a circumferential direction. The number of the core segments in each of the annular bodies is set based on k, where k is the number of magnetic poles formed by the permanent magnets. The rotor core has n through-holes, where n&#x2267;k. The rotor further includes n fixing members each of which extends in the stacking direction through one corresponding through-hole of the rotor core. Between each circumferentially adjacent pair of the core segments, there is formed a gap that is greater than a clearance provided between the through-holes of the rotor core and the fixing members. At least one of the annular bodies is circumferentially offset from another annular body by an integer multiple of one magnetic pole.

A multi-gap rotating electric machine includes a rotor, a stator core and a stator coil. The stator core has inner and outer core parts respectively located radially inside and outside of the rotor and each having partially or fully closed slots. The stator coil is formed of electric conductor segments each having a first leg portion inserted in one of the slots of the inner core part, a second leg portion inserted in one of the slots of the outer core part, and a connecting portion connecting the first and second leg portions on one axial side of the rotor. The first and second leg portions respectively have radially inner and outer coil end parts formed on the opposite axial side to the connecting portion. Corresponding radially inner coil end parts are joined to each other, and corresponding radially outer coil end parts are joined to each other.

Multi-gap rotary machine with dual stator and one rotor with dual permanent magnets and salient poles with dimensions and ratios for torque maximization

The synchronous motor includes a rotor including a rotor core constituted of segment poles disposed in a ring and a stator including a stator core disposed radially outward or inward of the rotor with a gap therebetween and a multiple-phase stator winding wound on the stator core. Each of the segment poles has a magnetic salient pole characteristic. The rotor is rotated in synchronization with a rotating magnetic field generated when the multiple-phase stator winding is applied with a multiple-phase AC voltage. The lamination thickness as an axial length of the stator core is shorter than the lamination thickness as an axial length of the rotor core.

In a multi-gap type electric rotating machine, side cores include an outside-side core connected to one end side of an outside core, and an inside-side core connected to one end side of an inside core. The outside-side core includes an outer-side rotor-opposite portion which projects from the inner periphery end of the outside core and is opposite to an end face at the outer periphery side of a rotor. The inside-side core includes an inner-side rotor-opposite portion which projects from the outer periphery end of the inside core and is opposite to an end face at the inner periphery side of the rotor. The outside-side core and the inside-side core are arranged so as to be opposed to each other in the radial direction thereof with a gap being interposed between the inner periphery end of the outer-side rotor-opposite portion and the outer periphery end of the inner-side rotor-opposite portion.
