An inkjet recording apparatus comprising: a conveyance belt for conveying a recording medium; a cleaning roller kept in contact with the conveyance belt to clean the conveyance belt; and a controller for controlling the cleaning roller so as to be able to select between two modes for its driving, wherein the two modes are the mode in which the cleaning roller is driven by the movement of the conveyance belt and the mode in which the cleaning roller is driven independently of the movement of the conveyance belt.

An inkjet recording apparatus for providing a high-quality image wherein a recording medium is thoroughly sucked by a conveyance belt and is accurately conveyed, thereby saving much time and effort. A conveyance beltfor supporting and conveying a recording mediumis provided, and an electrostatic generatoris installed to generate electrostatic force for sucking the recording mediumand to supply electrostatic force to the conveyance belt, wherein the conveyance beltis designed in such a way that at least the recording medium contact surface is adhesive.

There is provided an inkjet recording apparatus having a cleaning device, which can securely remove ink on a conveying belt having no negative effects on conveyance accuracy. The inkjet recording apparatus for forming an image on a recording medium includes a conveying belt for supporting and conveying a recording medium, a recording head for forming an image by jetting ink onto the recording medium conveyed by the conveying belts, and a cleaning device having a cleaning roller provided in pressure-contact with the conveying belt and driven to rotate in the same direction as the conveying direction of the conveying belt, wherein, the cleaning roller is set to rotate at a surface linear speed thereof lower than a conveying speed of the conveying belt.

An image recording apparatus for recording an image on a recording medium includes a conveying belt for supporting and conveying the recording medium, and a recording head for recording the image by jetting ink onto the recording medium. The apparatus further includes a plurality of cleaning rollers for cleaning the conveying belt, the cleaning rollers being in pressure-contact with the conveying belt, and a plurality of cleaning liquid baths for respectively storing cleaning liquid to be used to remove dirt deposited on the respective cleaning rollers and for dipping the respective cleaning rollers into the cleaning liquid. The apparatus uses liquid waste as cleaning liquid in a cleaning liquid bath on an upstream side of the conveying belt, the liquid waste having become unable to be used in a cleaning liquid bath on a downstream side of the conveying belt any longer as cleaning liquid.

A method of forming an ink-jet image, comprising the steps of: ejecting droplets of an ink onto an ink-jet recording media which includes a support having thereon an outermost layer containing a thermoplastic resin; and then applying pressure onto the outermost layer with a pressing apparatus so that a thickness of the outermost layer after applying pressure is 50 to 80% of the outermost layer before being applied pressure.
