An image reading method which can achieve highly accurate image reading with no color balance lost regardless of the type of recording media, that is, whether a film is a negative film or a reversal film, and thus is able to obtain in a stable manner a reproduced image of higher quality having excellent color balance and density balance. A reading light beam is irradiated on a transparent-type original, the transmitted light of the transparent-type original is separated into the three primary colors and is read by means of an photoelectric transducer device. If the transparent-type original is a negative film, then the adjustments of the transmitted light reading by the photoelectric transducer device are made respectively in the three primary colors independently of one another and, if the transparent-type original is a reversal film, then the adjustments of the transmitted light reading by the photoelectric transducer device are made uniformly in all of the three primary colors.

Image reading method

A gray balance correcting method in which the deterioration of color balance correcting capacity can be avoided for an image photographed under different kinds of light sources, such that the influence of failure can be eliminated. An image recorded on a negative film is divided into a large number of regions. Density values of C, M and Y in the respective regions are measured. Maximum and minimum reference values for the C, M and Y colors are calculated based on the measured density values D. Then, conversion correlation coefficients, for the respective colors, are calculated to make values, after conversion of the reference values of the respective colors, coincident with D.sub.max and coincident with D.sub.min. The measured density values of C, M and Y are converted by using the conversion correlations determined from the calculated coefficients. In another embodiment, only maximum values are used as reference values. In yet another embodiment, the converted measured density values are plotted on color coordinates. Then, averages in a predetermined region S containing a line L passing through the maximum and minimum converted reference values, D.sub.max and D.sub.min, are calculated based on the distribution plotted on the color coordinates. Conversion correlations of the respective colors are corrected according to curves of secondary degree P.sub.C and P.sub.Y passing through D.sub.max, D.sub.min and the average of the density values. The C, M and Y measured values are then converted again by using the corrected conversion correlations.

Gray balance correcting method

A system for recording and reading an image information wherein an image containing a certain form and data is recorded on each frame of a microfilm and a desired datum is selected and read from the microfilm. The system comprises a printer for printing a form cord for discriminating the form style recorded on each frame of the microfilm, and a reader for reading the form cord and reading-out the corresponding form style from a form memory to determine the position of the desired datum so that the desired datum is extracted from the printed image. The form cord preferably includes information relating to the kind, fount, size and pitch of letters in addition to the information relating to the form style. The form cord may be printed on each frame of the microfilm preferably in the form of bar cord with or without data cords and check cords. Data cords may be attached to respective data or may be printed collectively at a certain location on each frame of the microfilm. Also provided are a printer, a reader and a microfilm used in the system.

A processing head for use in an electrophotographic apparatus which is designed to bring successive frames of an elongated photosensitive material to a developing section. In the developing section a developing agent is supplied to develop the images on the successive frames. A small amount of this developing agent leaks out of the developing section through minute gaps between the structure of the developing mask and the photosensitive material. To remove this developer leakage a guide groove area is provided to substantially surround the developing mask. This groove area has an exhaust opening which opens to the external environment surrounding the processing head. Pressurized air is supplied to this guide groove area to blow the leakage developer out of the groove and out through the portion which is open to the external environment.

Liquid processing head for an electrophotographic apparatus

An image recording apparatus for focusing an image recored on an original onto a film so as to form an image on the film. The apparatus has a movable original table, a scanning mirror device adapted to be moved in accordance with the movement of the original so as to scan the image on the original, and a lens for focusing the light reflected from the scanning mirror onto the film which is held stationary. Since the lens and the film are not required to move, the image can be focused on the film with a high degree of precision.

Image recording apparatus

A cassette grounding apparatus includes a plurality of first contacts provided on a cassette casing for accommodating an object to be grounded in such a manner that the contacts are exposed. Each of the first contacts is electrically connected to the object accommodated in the cassette casing. A second contact which is constituted by a spring member is provided on a cassette holder into which the cassette casing is loaded. The second contact is grounded and adapted to contact one of the first contacts on the cassette casing when it is loaded in the cassette holder, thereby grounding the object accommodated in the cassette casing. A third contact which is constituted by a spring member is further provided on the cassette holder. The third contact is connected to means for detecting a contact condition between the first and second contacts, and adapted to contact the other of the first contacts on the cassette casing when it is loaded in the cassette holder.

Apparatus for grounding cassette

A developing method for developing an image on an electrophotographic film by means of a processing head which has a developing section to which the film is pressed for the development under the supply of a developer. After completion of supply of the developer to the developing section, weak and strong blasts of air are successively applied and, when the film is moved apart from the developing section, a final strong blast of air is applied, so that surplus residual liquid developer is removed from the developing section without being dried and solidified in the developing section.

Method of developing image on electrophotographic film

An image data recording medium is composed of a transparent leader tape, an opaque magnetic tape and a transparent continuous film which are spliced together successively in that order. It is therefore possible to make discrimination between the starting and terminating ends of the magnetic tape from a change from an opaque portion to a transparent portion and the direction of movement of the recording medium without the need to stick pieces of reflecting paper to the magnetic tape. Further, since the magnetic tape is wound up on a reel after the leader tape has been wound thereon, there is no fear of the magnetic tape being deteriorated due to a step which would otherwise be produced in the wound magnetic tape. Also disclosed is a magnetic tape position determining apparatus which comprises a photosensor disposed in opposing relation to the image data recording medium and position determining means for making discrimination between starting and terminating ends of the magnetic tape on the basis of a change in a signal obtained from the photosensor when the recording medium is moved in its longitudinal direction and the direction of movement of the recording medium. Accordingly, it is possible to make discrimination between the starting and terminating ends of the magnetic tape with a simplified arrangement.

Image data recording medium and apparatus for determining tape position

A method of determining the position of a particular frame on a film being moved in its longitudinal direction, the film having blip marks provided thereon for respective frames in advance. In this method, no detection of blip marks is effected during a period of time which begins immediately after the leading end edge of a blip mark has been detected and which ends slightly before the time at which the leading end edge of a subsequent blip mark is expected to be detected. Accordingly, there is no fear of dust attached to the film being misjudged to be a blip mark. Also disclosed is an apparatus which may suitably be employed to carry out the above-described method.

Method of and apparatus for determining frame position

An image data processing apparatus obtains a first absolute address of a frame by reading marks which are provided on a recording medium for the purpose of setting absolute addresses. Divisions which separate the frames on the recording medium into blocks are input, together with the relative addresses of the frames within the divisions. The apparatus stores frame data in such a manner that the divisions, the relative addresses of the frames of each of the divisions, and the absolute addresses of the frames are arranged so as to correspond to each other. The apparatus obtains a second absolute address of a frame to be processed which address corresponds to the input division and the input relative address of the frame within the division. An amount of feed of the recording medium which is needed to move the frame to be processed to the processing position is calculated from the difference between the first and second absolute addresses, and the frame to be processed is moved to the processing position in accordance with the calculated amount of feed. Thus, the image of the frame present at the processing position is processed. Accordingly, frame images can be readily put in order, and retrieval thereof is facilitated.

Image data processing apparatus

An electrophotographic device for a magnetic brush development process in which a conductive material is used for rollers in the conveying mechanism of electrophotosensitive materials which abut on the materials after a charging step by a charging device, but before a developing step by a developing device so as to insulate the rollers from other components. One portion of a shield case of the charging device is insulated from another portion and is electrically connected to the rollers, thereby applying a bias voltage on the rollers using the voltage induced on this portion due to high voltage applied on a corona wire of the charging device.
