A frame bodydisposed within a case bodyis provided with a main-body portionfor rotating an optical diskto thereby read recorded information therefrom. The frame bodyis assembled with a cooling fan. The frame bodyis provided with a duct part communicated with a suction side of the cooling fan. The frame bodyis mounted with a circuit boardfor closing a lower surface of the frame bodyand covering the below of the main-body portion, to thereby define a machine room and an airflow path room within the case body. The circuit boardis formed with a through-hole. Fresh air is allowed to efficiently contact with electrical components to thereby cool them.

A disc driving apparatus is provided with: a turn table on which a disc type record medium is loaded; a clamper opposed to the turn table for clamping the disc type record medium on the turn table by means of a magnetic force applied between the turn table and the clamper; and a spindle motor for rotationally driving the turn table. The clamper has at least 3 abutting portions for abutting to the disc type record medium such that only one of the abutting portions is respectively on a line passing through a center of the clamper in a plain parallel to a record surface of the disc type record medium.

The motor apparatus includes a motor and an insulating device. The motor such as a spindle motor is driven with pulse width modulation. Then, the insulating device insulates an object to be protected, which should be protected from a noise current generated from the motor, from the motor.

When the position of the pickup is normalized, a lead screw is rotated by a stepping motor to move the pickup to the outermost circumferential position, whereby a preset counter is preset to the maximum value CTout corresponding to the outermost circumferential position. The counter counts proportionally to the number of driving pulses to be supplied to the stepping motor, the lead screw rotates till the counting value of the counter gets &ldquo;0&rdquo;, so that the pickup moves near the outermost circumferential track of the optical disk in the lead-in area to make the set up. The shape of the tooth flank of the lead screw and the inclination of the engaging projections are designed such that the step out is caused between the engaging projections and the lead screw when the pickup is moved to the outermost circumferential position. Even if this step out is caused, the engaging projections only engage strongly with the lead screw

An apparatus for controlling a stepping motor used for moving a carriage having a pickup from a first position to a second position, the apparatus having: a calculating device for calculating a moving distance between the first position and the second position; a setting device for setting an acceleration area to accelerate the stepping motor and a deceleration area to decelerate the stepping motor, on the basis of the moving distance; and a driving device for driving the stepping motor by a one-two-phase excitation method until rotation velocity of the stepping motor increases to a predetermined velocity in the acceleration area, driving the stepping motor by a two-phase excitation method after rotation velocity of the stepping motor increases to the predetermined velocity in the acceleration area, driving the stepping motor by the two-phase excitation method until rotation velocity of the stepping motor decreases to the predetermined velocity in the deceleration area, and driving the stepping motor by the one-two-phase excitation method after rotation velocity of the stepping motor decreases to the predetermined velocity in the deceleration area.

Apparatus for and method of controlling stepping motor

A front loading disc player for automatically delivering a disc onto a turntable and playing back the disc includes a disc delivery mechanism for delivering the disc. The disc delivery mechanisms has two trays for carrying respective discs, juxtaposed in a direction substantially normal to the disc carrying surface of the turntable and movable into a projected position out of the player housing and a retracted position in the player housing, and a guide and driver means for guiding and moving the trays into the playback position, the retracted position, and the projected position. While one of the trays is in the playback position, the other tray is positioned in either the stored position or the projected position. While the disc delivered by one of the trays onto the turntable is being played back, therefore, the disc on the other tray can be replaced with a new disc, so that a number of discs can successively be played back.

Front loading disk player

A magazine loading type disk player comprises a magazine mount portion for removably mounting a magazine. The magazine includes a housing and a plurality of plate-like trays for carrying respective disks. The plate-like trays are capable of being projected from and retracted into the housing. The disk player further comprises a pickup and a turntable supported on a supporting member so as to be movable in a direction of the arrangement of the trays for receiving a selected one of the disks from the magazine; a positioning mechanism for positioning the supporting member which carries the pickup and turntable; and a disk moving mechanism for feeding the selected disk from the magazine to the turntable after positioning of the support member, and for retracting the selected disk. The positioning mechanism includes a pair of cross-links for movably supporting the supporting member, and a link driving mechanism for moving the cross-links. Each of the cross-links has a fixed pivot side link and a movable pivot side link pivoted to each other through a pin. The fixed pivot side link of one of the cross-links has a sector gear provided at the free or pivoted end. The link driving mechanism transmits movement to the sector gear to swing the fixed pivot side link.
