An exposure device includes an exposure member, a positioning member, and a movement restricting member. The exposure member includes multiple light-emitting devices arranged along a first direction, which is an axial direction of an image carrier that rotates. The exposure member exposes the image carrier to light by emitting light in a second direction, which is a direction from the multiple light-emitting devices to the image carrier. The positioning member determines a position of the exposure member in the second direction relative to the image carrier by causing the exposure member to abut against the image carrier in the second direction. The movement restricting member is disposed on an end portion of the exposure member in the first direction and restricts movement of the exposure member relative to the positioning member.

An optical scanning device includes a rotating body having a rotating polygon mirror that deflects a light beam; a circuit board having a supporting member that supports the rotating member and a driving unit that drives the rotating body; a container containing the rotating body and the circuit board and having a positioning portion that positions a positioned portion of the rotating body, the positioned portion projecting from the circuit board; first and second fastening portions that fasten the circuit board to the container; and an adjusting portion that adjusts an angle of a rotating shaft of the rotating body with respect to the container. A virtual straight line connecting the first and second fastening portions passes through the rotating body when seen in an axial direction of the rotating shaft. The adjusting portion resides on a side of the virtual straight line opposite the rotating shaft.

In a disclosed optical scanner, an optical axis adjustment is made by moving a circuit board on which a light emitting device open-type semiconductor laser is mounted along a base face of an optical box. For a high-quality optical scanning, the circuit board is attached to the base face of the optical box. The invention provides a light emitting element open-type in which a semiconductor laser is disposed in an optical box which is almost hermetically sealed with a cover to avoid adhesion of dusts, electrostatic destroy, and deterioration in picture quality.

The present invention provides an optical deflector capable of reducing a rise in heat of integrated circuits and a housing without increasing noises caused by a wind sound of a rotative polygon mirror, and an optical scanner having the optical deflector. Heat in a lower face of an integrated circuit of a printed board can be allowed to escape by providing a through hole in a lower position of the integrated circuit. By bringing a radiating member into direct contact with the integrated circuit through the through hole, heat of the integrated circuit can be conducted to the radiating member and radiated. Therefore, a rise in a temperature of the housing can be reduced. As a result, life of a bearing can be prolonged and reliability of the integrated circuit can be increased.
