In an exemplary embodiment, a vibration waveform sensor includes a pair of conductive pads, and a piezoelectric elementwhose terminal electrodes are connected thereto, which are provided on a board, and these are surrounded by a conductive ring-like spacer. On the interior side of the spacer, a cover partsubstantially like a disk is provided in a manner covering over the pair of conductive padsand the piezoelectric element. The cover partcuts off any humming noise from the top face of the piezoelectric elementover a continuous surface, which results in a reduction of humming noise.

In an embodiment, a sensor moduleincludes a piezoelectric elementplaced on the principal face of a board, which piezoelectric element is surrounded by a vibration ringand installed in an appropriate position on a person's arm, neck, etc., using a medical fixing tape, etc., with the vibration ringcontacting the person's skin. When a pulse wave is transmitted to the vibration ringfrom the skin, the boardalso vibrates and this vibration is transmitted to the piezoelectric element. Then, the piezoelectric elementis displaced and the pulse wave vibration is converted to an electrical signal. The resulting electrical signal is amplified by an amplifier on the boardand input to the vibration analysis device, where prescribed calculations are run to perform waveform analysis. A camera in which is stored a unique ID is directly or indirectly connected to a printing service site, to which log-in is performed using the ID, whereupon an image from the camera is uploaded to the printing service site, and a printing server distinguishes from the ID which camera the image was uploaded. Printing of the uploaded image can instructed via the printing service site. At the time of printing, when the printing server is calculating the printing charge, the charge is discounted if the image was obtained from a prescribed camera. Alternatively, if the image to be printed was photographed by a camera of a specific manufacturer, a cash-back is issued to the manufacturer in accordance with the number of prints.

A field sequential color projector includes an area sensor unit having an area sensor for photographing a screen, and an optical filter for permitting only a red light having the same color as a laser beam from a laser pointer to be input to the area sensor, and a color period/timing extraction unit which extracts timings for projecting red, green, and blue images. When a projection timing for a red image arrives while an image is projected, an MPU (Micro Processor Unit) receives a light of an image projected on the screen at that time to acquire image information, and detects a position pointed by the laser beam based on the acquired image information. Even if there exists a portion having the same color as the laser beam in the projected image, a pointed position detection device accurately detects the position irradiated by a pointing light of the laser pointer.

A method for manufacturing an alloy rod having giant magnetostriction, which comprises the steps of: supplying a granular or flaky alloy material, which comprises at least two rare earth metals including terbium and dysprosium and at least one transition metal, into a tubular crucible in an inert gas atmosphere kept under a pressure of from 0.2 to 10 atm., arranged in a vertical cylindrical heating furnace; totally melting the alloy material in the crucible in the heating furnace; and then vertically moving any one of the crucible and the heating furnace at a speed of from 0.1 to 5.0 mm/minute in a temperature region of from 1,270.degree. to 1,180.degree. C. of the heating furnace, in which a temperature decreases at a temperature gradient of from 10.degree. to 100.degree. C./cm, to solidify and crystallize the resultant melt of the alloy material in the crucible in a lower portion of the heating furnace, thereby manufacturing an alloy rod having giant magnetostriction, which comprises a single-crystal structure of a unidirectional-solidification structure consistent with the axial line thereof.
