An induction heating apparatus has a coil or coils which can be opened without using electrical contacts. One continuous electric current passageway is formed by a first coil section, a second coil section, a first connecting conductor and a second connecting conductor. By feeding electric power to this electric current passageway and passing an object through a space at the central portion of the coil sections, the object is induction heated. A gap is provided between the first connecting conductor and the second connecting conductor, or the respective connecting conductors can be opened and closed relative to one another to vary the size of the space therebetween. The object to be heated is carried into the space at the central portion of the coil and is carried out therefrom through the gap or the space between the conductors.

Induction heating apparatus having openable and closable coil

An induction heating apparatus is disclosed which includes a high frequency power source having a leading phase angle setting circuit, which is supplied with a detection voltage signal from an output side of a high frequency inverter connected to a load circuit, to supply a leading phase angle signal to gates of thyristors of the inverter. The high frequency power source further includes a phase control circuit, provided after the voltage detection circuit, which is supplied with the detection voltage signal from the output side of the inverter to periodically control a phase of the detection voltage signal. The induction heating apparatus further includes a series inductor provided in between the power supply bus line connected to an induction heating coil wherein a magnetic member is provided to be inserted into and taken out of the inductor. A drive device is included for driving the magnetic member. The induction heating apparatus includes a solenoid coil serving as an induction heating coil to which a high frequency current is supplied and into which a steel plate passes to be heated by Joule heat produced by an eddy current generated in the steel plate. Furthermore, magnetic flux density alleviating apparatus is provided in the solenoid coil for alleviating magnetic flux concentrated in an edge portion of the steel plate.

Induction heating apparatus for preventing the formation of stripes on

A control system for a magnetic type bearing is fed back a signal from a position sensor with respect to a floating member to effect control such as phase compensation so that the magnetic type bearing is actively employed. In order to change unstabilizing force produced by the magnetic type bearing in a specified frequency range to stabilizing force, a first signal obtained by causing the signal from the position sensor to pass through a first filter having a cut-off frequency range corresponding to a predetermined frequency range in which stabilization is to be attained and a second signal obtained by causing a signal having an opposite polarity to that of the signal from the position sensor to pass through a second filter having a passing frequency range which is substantially identical with the predetermined frequency range are added to each other and the addition signal is fed back to an electromagnet.

Control system for a magnetic type bearing

A balancer of a reciprocating machine having crank mechanisms includes an adjusting weight having one end supported by a reciprocating portion of a crank mechanism for the balancer. An adjusting weight support rotatably supports the other end of the adjusting weight with respect to a stationary portion of a body frame. The adjusting weight support is equipped with a weight support position altering mechanism for permitting alteration of the support position of the adjusting weight.

A method of controlling a tension levelling equipment for correcting residual distortions in an extension of strip including a series of input and output bridle roll means for rendering a tension upon the extension of strip extending between the input and output sides of a levelling mill station for smoothing out the distortions, and slipping clutch means connecting the bridle roll means with driving means allowing a slipping motion therebetween, which comprises the steps of measuring a current tension rendered upon the extension of strip at both the input and output sides of either of the input and output bridle roll means, and controlling the engaging torques of the slipping clutches in such a manner that a current slipping motion produced between the extension of strip and the bridle roll means may be nullified or eliminated according to the result of measurement of tensions, whereby it can remove all possible defects such as flaws and scratches in the surface of a strip product caused from the slipping motions as encountered during the passing through the tension leveler, thus contributing a substantial improvement in the surface condition and quality of the strip product.

Method of controlling a tension levelling equipment

Elongated hollow members or tubes frictionally engage the interior wall of a hollow corrugating roll or a hollow pressure roll of a single facer so as to minimize the elastic vibration thereof and thereby to minimize the noise developed and transmitted during the operation of the single facer. A plurality of such tubes of a given diameter are arranged circumferentially about the interior wall of the shell of a roll of a single facer in such manner that each of the tubes frictionally engages the interior wall and so that each of the tubes also engages the adjacent tubes on either side thereof, thereby providing an assembled structure in which the plurality of tubes resist the elastic deformation of the roll and the resultant elastic vibratiion and thereby reduce the noise level. In a modified form of the invention, a second plurality of tubes of smaller diameter are arranged in similar fashion along a concentric circle radially inward of the first plurality of tubes, each of the second group of tubes being positioned in contact with two adjacent ones of the first group of tubes. A single centrally disposed tube may be positioned for further assisting in holding the assembled tubes in position. In other modified forms of the invention tubes of different diameters and wall thicknesses may be randomly arranged within the roll rather than being positioned in concentric circles of tubes of progressively decreasing diameter from the interior wall to the radially inmost position. In a further modification, annular members fixed to the interior wall of the roll may be provided at the ends of the tubes for further assisting in holding the tubes in position. Sound-deadening materials in solid or liquid form may be provided in some or all of the tubes or in the spaces between adjacent tubes.

Rolls for single facer

The interior wall of a hollow corrugating roll or a hollow pressure roll of a single facer is frictionally engaged by a resilient member so as to minimize the elastic vibration thereof and thereby to minimize the noise developed and transmitted during operation of the single facer. The resilient member is positioned within the hollow interior of the roll and is arranged to press against the interior wall as a result of its resilience and thereby to reduce the elastic vibration of the roll and the noise transmitted. The resilient member may take various forms, such as a coiled helical spring, a coiled leaf spring, a plurality of tapered nested annular members engaging the interior wall of the roll, et cetera.

A hollow pressure member is provided adjacent the lower corrugating roll of a single facer to apply pressure for effecting bonding of the corrugated web and the liner web. The pressure member is provided, in the area facing the lower corrugating roll, with an arcuate surface having a curvature equal to or exceeding that of a curve extending through the tips of the flutes of the corrugating roll. The pressure member is of circumferential length at least exceeding the distance between two adjacent flutes of the corrugating roll. In one form of the invention the pressure member is provided with a plurality of threaded openings extending from its hollow interior to the arcuate surface and threaded hollow plugs are received within these openings. Each plug includes an aperture for permitting communication between the hollow interior of the pressure member and the arcuate surface thereof. Within the plug, there is provided a ball which is spring-biased toward an opening in the plug at the arcuate surface of the pressure member and closes this opening in the absence of external force. When single-faced board is being manufactured, the balls are forced inwardly against the spring bias, providing a passage for supply of air from the hollow interior of the pressure member to the area between the arcuate surface and the liner web. This provides a gaseous film between the liner web and the arcuate surface, thereby substantially reducing friction therebetween. In another form of the invention, the aforementioned plugs and spring-biased balls are omitted and the arcuate surface of the pressure member is provided with a plurality of openings which are in continuous communication with the hollow interior of the pressure member. During operation air supplied from a suitable source through the hollow interior passes through these openings and provides a film between the arcuate surface and the liner web to reduce the friction therebetween.

Single facer

A single facer includes a pressure member adjacent the lower corrugating roll to apply pressure for effecting bonding of a corrugated web and a liner web, the liner web being adjacent the surface of the pressure member. The pressure member is provided, in the area facing the lower corrugating roll, with an arcuate surface having a curvature equal to or exceeding that of an arc extending through the tips of the flutes of the corrugating roll. The pressure member is of a circumferential length at least exceeding the distance between two adjacent flutes of the corrugating roll. In order to reduce the friction between the arcuate surface of the pressure member and the liner web passing thereover, a conveyor in the form of an endless belt is disposed with a portion thereof extending between the arcuate surface of the pressure member and the liner web. This portion of the endless belt is movable in the same direction as the periphery of the lower corrugating roll and is movable at a speed equal to the peripheral speed of the lower corrugating roll.
