A three-dimensional display comprising a flat light source, a vertical striped filter having slits transmitting light from the light source and barriers screening the light from the light source alternately formed therein for partially transmitting the light from the light source, and an LCD panel arranged on the light emission side of the vertical striped filter and having left eye pixels and right eye pixels alternately formed therein, light passing through the left eye pixels in the LCD panel and light passing through the right eye pixels being emitted toward a observer in a separated state.

Three-dimensional display

The present invention provides a stereoscopic display comprising an indicator for teaching to a user the position where a stereoscopic image is viewed. The stereoscopic display for separating light beams from a left eye image and a right eye image which are displayed on a display panel into left image light beams and right image light beams and supplying the left image light beams and the right image light beams to a viewer comprises a light emitting unit composed of a green light emitting diode and a red light emitting diode and a barrier plate arranged in front of the light emitting unit on the side of the viewer and having a slit through which part of the light beams from the light emitting diode are passed toward the viewer. The light emitting unit and the barrier plate are so constructed that light beams incident on the right and left eyes through the slit are light beams from the light emitting diodes in the same color in a stereoscopic view position which is the position where a stereoscopic image is viewed, while being light beams from the light emitting diodes in different colors in a pseudo-stereoscopic view position.

Stereoscopic display

A liquid crystal projector includes a light source, a color filter for adding color projection image, a liquid crystal panel for forming a projection image on it, a projection lens and an optical unit located between the color filter and the liquid crystal panel for optically coupling the color filter and the liquid crystal panel. The color filter is separately located from the liquid crystal, and therefore the increase in temperature on the color filter because of absorbing the light from the light source has less effect on the liquid crystal panel.

Liquid crystal projector

In a liquid crystal projector having a light source and liquid crystal panel units disposed in the optical paths, reflecting means is disposed on the emanating side of the projector for reflecting the light in a direction approximately perpendicular to the optical axis, and change-over means is coupled to the liquid crystal panel units for reversing the lateral directions of images.

A video projector has first and second projector devices and a display screen. The first projector device is used to project a plurality of first image elements to be perceived by, for example, the right eye of a viewer. The second projector device is used to project a plurality of second image elements to be perceived by, for example, the left eye of the viewer. The first image elements from the first liquid crystal projector device and the second image elements from the second liquid crystal projector device are projected on the display screen. The size of image elements projected on a liquid crystal display panel is adjusted so that the adjacent image elements do not overlap with each other. As a result, interference between adjacent picture elements is substantially eliminated and thus the image quality is improved.

A flat fluorescent lamp comprises a flat glass container formed by a front glass panel, a rear glass panel and glass frames, a phosphor coating formed along the inner surface of the front glass panel, an anode disposed in the vicinity of the phosphor coating, a plurality of linear cathodes arranged in parallel to the anode and supported by support members, and at least one mesh electrode disposed between the anode and the cathodes The intensity of light of the lamp is adjusted by applying a pulse voltage to the mesh electrode.

Flat fluorescent lamp and liquid crystal projector incorporating same

A liquid crystal display unit comprising a condenser lens, incident-side polarizing plate, liquid crystal panel and emanating-side polarizing plate is disposed in an optical path from a light source toward a projection lens. A cooler comprising a closed flat platelike glass container and a refrigerant enclosed in the container with a vacuum space of specified volume left therein is joined to each of the incident-side polarizing plate and the liquid crystal panel over an effective image area. The incident-size polarizing plate and the liquid crystal panel are prevented from overheating by the spontaneous convection and evaporation of the refrigerant and the condensation thereof within the space.

A solar heat collecting apparatus which comprises a cylindrical outer member through which solar heat energy may be penetrated, a cylindrical inner member capable of absorbing solar heat energy disposed in said outer member, the inside of said inner member being formed as a passage for a heating medium, and end plates through which the end portions of said inner member are hermetically projected and for hermetically closing the open ends of said outer member, said end plates being provided at the peripheries thereof with annular grooves to be charged with bonding material, said annular grooves having the outer peripheral walls lower than the inner peripheral walls thereof to prevent said bonding material from flowing from the annular grooves toward the centers of said end plates over the inner peripheral walls, thereby to prevent the occurrence of cracks in the solidified bonding material and to subsequently prevent the break of a vacuum formed in the inside of said outer member, whereby the apparatus is improved in reliability and life-time.

A solar heat collecting apparatus which may realize improvements in workability in the manufacturing process, easier handling in transporation and installation, and lower manufacturing and handling costs, and which comprises an outer tube of transparent glass, a heat collecting tube disposed therein of which the inside is formed as a passage for a heating medium, and metallic end plates for hermetically closing the space between said heat collecting tube and each of the end open portions of said outer tube, one of said end plates provided with an exhaust tubulure.
