A computer system and a storage migration method capable of simplifying the migration process of a storage apparatus while avoiding the performance degradation of the overall system. A management apparatus for managing data migration from a first storage apparatus to a second storage apparatus is provided. The management apparatus acquires apparatus-specific information of the first storage apparatus from the first storage apparatus and notifies the acquired apparatus-specific information to the second storage apparatus, and the second storage apparatus sets, as virtualization information, the acquired apparatus-specific information of the first storage apparatus notified from the management apparatus to a path connecting a second storage area and a second port associated with the second storage area in the second storage apparatus, and notifies the virtualization information as its own apparatus-specific information to a host computer in response to a configuration information acquisition request from the host computer.

A computer system includes: a first storage apparatus; a second storage apparatus; a first volume of the first storage apparatus; and a second volume of the second storage apparatus; wherein the first volume and the second volume have a copy pair relationship and a host system recognizes the second volume as the same volume as the first volume; and wherein the first storage apparatus sends reservation information of the first volume to the second storage apparatus; and the second storage apparatus controls access from the host system on the basis of the received reservation information.

The first and second storage apparatuses respectively have first and second storage areas VDEVs selectively accessible from the external apparatus, first and second temporary storage areas, and remote copy controllersconfigured to control data copy process. Either of the remote copy controllers reads the data I/O process authority information and copies according to the data I/O process authority information, to the other storage apparatus, data stored either in the first storage area and the first temporary storage area, or in the second storage area and the second temporary storage area that are included in the storage apparatus to which the remote copy controller belongs.

The data is automatically recovered to a desired arbitrary point in an external storage without imposing a burden on the host computer. An application on a host computer instructs data recovery control processing of a disk control apparatus to set a recovery opportunity. It is possible to register arbitrary plural points as a recoverable point by setting a recovery flag included in journal data. In the case in which data is recovered due to occurrence of a failure or the like, the application requests a list showing recovery opportunities which have already been set. The application designates a point to which data is recovered on the basis of the recovery opportunity list. The disk control apparatus recovers the data to the designated point on the basis of a backup disk and a journal disk.

External storage and data recovery method for external storage as well as program

A storage system which manages a plurality of storage control apparatus in an integrated manner is provided. An I/O request issued by a host apparatus to a second storage control apparatus is forwarded to the second storage control apparatus through a first storage control apparatus. The first storage control apparatus has management information for the second storage control apparatus, allowing a pair comprising a logical device controlled by the first storage control apparatus and a logical device controlled by the second storage control apparatus to be created. In addition, the first storage control apparatus is capable of controlling the second storage control apparatus.

A storage system secures system redundancy through a simple configuration. A primary storage control device and first secondary storage control device are connected by a synchronous method, and the primary storage control device and a second secondary storage control device are connected by an asynchronous method. The primary storage control device sets control numbers for update data, and saves journal data. The primary storage control device transmits the update data to the first secondary storage control device. The first secondary storage control device writes update data to a first secondary volume, and uses a plurality of bitmap tables to manage differences. If the primary storage control device stops operation, the first secondary storage control device becomes the new primary storage control device. Differential copying is performed from the first secondary storage control device to the second secondary storage control device.

The present invention manages the information of storage apparatuses inside a single storage apparatus in an integrated fashion, under a heterogeneous storage environment in which a variety of storage apparatuses are distributed and deployed on a plurality of sub-networks. A wide-area network comprises a plurality of sub-networks, and a plurality of storage apparatuses are disposed on the respective sub-networks. A storage apparatus, which constitutes the connection source, issues query commands and collects storage information from respective external storage apparatuses based on conditions input from a user. When external resources matching the user-desired conditions are extracted, these external resources are displayed on a management terminal. When the user selects a desired external resource, this external resource is connected to a virtual intermediate volume and provided to a host.

Various types of resources of the disk array device are divided for respective users and communications resources used in remote copying are appropriately assigned to the users so that functional interference between the split units is prevented and stable remote copying is realized. SLPRs which are dedicated regions for the respective users are set inside the disk array device. Each SLPR is constituted by dividing various types of resources of ports, cache memories, logical units and the like, and cannot be accessed by an unauthorized host computer. Furthermore, a manager of one of the SLPRs likewise cannot refer to or alter the constructions of the other SLPRs. During remote copying, the amount of transfer within the unit time is detected for each of the SLPRs. If the amount of transfer within the unit time exceeds the maximum amount of transfer, a response to the host computerfrom this SLPR is deliberately delayed, so that the inflow of data from the host computeris restricted.
