A liquid crystal display device includes a first substrate, a second substrate, a liquid crystal layer, and a plurality of pixels. Each of the pixels has a reflection region for performing display in a reflective mode. The first substrate includes a pixel electrode provided in each of the pixels and a reflection layer positioned opposite to the liquid crystal layer with respect to the pixel electrode. The reflection layer has a first region positioned in each of the pixels and a second region positioned between any two pixels adjacent to each other. Voltages of an identical polarity are applied to the liquid crystal layer for any two pixels adjacent to each other in a row direction, for any two pixels adjacent to each other in a column direction, or for all the pixels.

Liquid crystal display device

A liquid crystal display device includes a first substrate, a second substrate, a vertical alignment liquid crystal layer, and a plurality of pixels. Each of the pixels includes a reflective region for performing display in a reflection mode. The first substrate includes a reflective electrode including a first region located within each of the plurality of pixels and a second region located between any two pixels, of the plurality of pixels, adjacent to each other, a transparent insulating layer provided to cover the reflective electrode, and a pixel electrode formed from a transparent conductive material and provided on the transparent insulating layer in each of the plurality of pixels. The second substrate includes a counter electrode provided to be opposite to the pixel electrode and the reflective electrode. Voltage of the same polarity is applied to the liquid crystal layer of any two pixels, of the plurality of pixels, adjacent to each other along a row direction, any two pixels, of the plurality of pixels, adjacent to each other along a column direction, or all of the plurality of pixels. The counter electrode and the reflective electrode are provided with potentials different from each other.

A liquid crystal display device includes a first substrate, a second substrate, a vertical alignment liquid crystal layer, and a plurality of pixels. Each of the pixels includes a reflective region for performing display in a reflection mode. The first substrate includes a reflective electrode including a first region located within each of the plurality of pixels and a second region located between any two pixels, of the plurality of pixels, adjacent to each other, a transparent insulating layer provided to cover the reflective electrode, and a pixel electrode formed from a transparent conductive material and provided on the transparent insulating layer in each of the plurality of pixels. To reduce a reduction in the quality of a displayed image in portions corresponding to source lines including detour portions in a display area. Gate lines () and source lines (), which intersect with each other, extend on an insulating substrate () so as to detour an opening area (A). Separated portions () are provided as lower shielding electrodes () in an inner non-display area (A) so as to be overlapped with source detour portions () of the source lines () in a plan view.

Active matrix substrate, display device, and method of manufacturing active matrix substrate

The display device includes, on a substrate, a plurality of pixel electrodes, M (M is a natural number equal to or greater than three) counter electrodes disposed opposite the plurality of pixel electrodes, M counter electrode wiring lines connected with M counter electrodes, and N (N is a natural number and 2&#x2264;N&#x3c;M) common voltage wiring lines connected to the M counter electrode wiring lines. Counter electrode wiring lines connected to counter electrodes adjacent to each other are connected to common voltage wiring lines that are different from each other.

Display device

Each pixel has a reflection region to produce a display in reflection mode. The first substrate includes: a pixel electrode for each pixel; and a first vertical alignment film. The second substrate includes: an opposite electrode opposite the pixel electrodes; and a second vertical alignment film. Of the first and second vertical alignment films, only the second vertical alignment film exerts an alignment-regulating force that determines a pretilt angle. Each pixel electrode includes a plurality of subpixel electrodes. The opposite electrode has an opening in an area corresponding to one of four corners of at least one of the plurality of subpixel electrodes. Liquid crystal molecules in a thickness-wise middle portion of the liquid crystal layer on the subpixel electrode are oriented toward the opening.

A decline in the display quality in portion areas corresponding to source lines that run through an inner non-display area in a display area is reduced. The arrangement of source lines that run through an inner non-display area is changed in an upper change area and a lower change area so that the source lines that are simultaneously driven are not adjacent to each other in a display area and are adjacent to each other in a passage area.

Active matrix substrate and display device

A display device includes a reflective electrode, a driving circuit section, a wiring, and a wiring expansion section. The reflective electrode is divided into split electrodes arranged with spaces, which transmit light, respectively provided thereamong and reflects light. The driving circuit section drives the reflective electrode. The wiring is connected to at least the split electrodes and the driving circuit section and composed of a conductive material having a light transmission property. The wiring expansion section is formed to expand in the wiring to overlap the space.

A display device includes a color filter substrate, an array substrate, a liquid crystal layer, a protection layer, and a plurality of main spacers. The color filter substrate includes a display region, a hole frame region, and a hole region. Further, in a thickness direction of the hole region of the color filter, an organic flattening film is present on a surface of the array substrate on the color filter substrate side at parts corresponding to positions of the main spacers.

Each of the pixel electrodes that are disposed in a liquid crystal display panel of one embodiment of the present invention is constituted of minutely patterned electrode regions (a first minutely patterned electrode region and a second minutely patterned electrode region), and one solid electrode region, and the length Lpix of each of the pixel electrodes in a direction along a data line, and the total length LB of the minutely patterned electrode regions satisfies the relationship of LB/Lpix=0.3 to 0.6.

A liquid crystal display device () includes a plurality of source bus lines (), a plurality of gate bus lines () that cross the plurality of source bus lines (), and a plurality of auxiliary capacitance lines () that extend in parallel with the gate bus lines (). The liquid crystal display device () also includes a plurality of pixels () to () that respectively include TFTs (), pixel electrodes (), a common electrode (), and a liquid crystal layer () and that are arranged in a matrix so as to correspond to the respective intersections of the gate bus lines () and the source bus lines (). A pixel electrode () for the pixel () is disposed in the pixel () that is adjacent to the pixel (), and in a plan view, the gate bus line () disposed in the pixel () and the pixel electrode () for the pixel () are arranged apart from each other so as not to overlap.

A first edge () and a second edge () are not uniformly parallel to each other in a direction perpendicular to a first direction (A); a protrusion that is provided on one or both of the first edge () and the second edge (), which protrusion protrudes into a slit (), is increased in just a direction from one predetermined region on one side of a bisector (C) shared by the first edge () and the second edge () to another region on the other side of the bisector C, which region on one predetermined region and the another region on the other side are regions of the first edge () and the second edge (), and all of the protrusion(s) being extended into the slit to reach its maximum in the another region on the other side of the bisector. As a result, it is possible to achieve a liquid crystal display that is capable of generating alignment centers of liquid crystal molecules so that alignment centers of pairs of adjacent pixel electrodes are generated in uniform, which alignment center is generated in the vicinity of a slit sandwiched between pixel electrodes that are provided adjacent to each other in a direction in which the data signal lines extend and that are applied a voltage separately.

Liquid crystal display

A shield electrode is provided in the vicinity of a pixel electrode and source bus lines. The shield electrode may be provided in the same layer as gate bus lines, or in the same layer as the source bus lines. The shield electrode may be surrounded by an insulating material, or may be connected to a line other than the source bus lines. By providing the shield electrode, it is possible to reduce a source-drain parasitic capacitance between a pixel electrode and a source bus line.

Liquid crystal display device having source-drain parasitic capacitances of a delta arrangement

A first electrode substrate of the present invention includes a first signal line, a second signal line, a third signal line, a first pixel electrode, a second pixel electrode, and a third pixel electrode. The first signal line, the second signal line and the third signal line extend in a first direction and in parallel to one another. The first pixel electrode is electrically connected to the first signal line. The second pixel electrode is adjacent to the first pixel electrode in the first direction, and is electrically connected to the second signal line. The third pixel electrode is adjacent to the second pixel electrode in the row direction, crossing the first direction, via the second signal line therebetween, and is electrically connected to the third signal line. A capacitance value of a parasitic capacitor formed between the first pixel electrode and the second pixel electrode is smaller than a capacitance value of a parasitic capacitor formed between the first pixel electrode and the third pixel electrode.

Electrode substrate and display device including the same

A display device includes: a plurality of signal lines which extend in a zigzag manner in a column direction and to which image signals are supplied, respectively; an insulation film which covers the plurality of signal lines; and a plurality of pixel electrodes which are formed on the insulation film and to which the image signals are input from the plurality of signal lines, respectively. A distance between ones of the pixel electrodes located adjacent to each other in the column direction is equal to or larger than a line width of the signal lines.
