A method of manufacturing a drawn cup needle roller bearing having a seal ring, including forming the seal ring by a press working by: punching a metal plate to form an annular first intermediate material; subjecting the first intermediate material to burring working such that a portion close to an inner diameter of the first intermediate material is bent in an axial direction at a right angle to form an annular second intermediate material having an L-shaped cross section, the second intermediate material comprising a cylindrical portion and an outward flange portion which is bent radially outward from an axial end portion of the cylindrical portion; removing the outward flange portion to form a cylindrical third intermediate; and subjecting the third intermediate material to cold rolling working to regulate an inner diameter, an outer diameter and a cross sectional shape of the third intermediate material.

Manufacturing method of a drawn cup needle roller bearing having seal ring

A drawn cup needle roller bearinghaving a seal ring comprises: a shellhaving a raceway surfaceon an inner circumferential face and also having inward flange portionsin both end portions; a cagehaving a plurality of pocketsin a circumferential direction and worked by cutting; a plurality of needlesretained in the pocketsso that the needles freely rotate along the raceway surface; and a seal ring, the shape of which is cylindrical, arranged inside the shellbetween an end faceof the cageand the inward flange portion. The seal ringcomposes a floating seal and is formed by press working. Due to the foregoing, an excellent dimensional accuracy can be provided and a quantity of lubricant passing through the bearing can be controlled.

A method of manufacturing a retainer for a roller bearing made of a metal plate and has a tubular main portion, pockets formed in the main portion intermittently concerning a circumferential direction and capable of retaining rollers rollably, and an outwardly oriented flange-like collar portion. An annular intermediate material is formed by die cutting the metal plate, and after a second intermediate material is formed by forming through holes in the intermediate material intermittently, a portion of the second intermediate material excluding a radially outer end portion is plastically deformed into a tubular shape. The portion plastically deformed tubular shape is formed as the main portion, a portion corresponding to the radially outer end portion of the second intermediate material is formed as the collar portion or a collar portion element for forming the collar portion, and portions corresponding to the through holes are formed as the pockets.
