A medical image filing system having a first recording device for recording a plurality of image data from a medical image pickup device; a second recording device for recording the plurality of image data from the medical image pickup device, the second recording device has a recording speed slower and a recording capacity greater than that of the first recording device; and at least one image reproducing device for reading and reproducing designated image data from the plurality of image data recorded in the first and second recording devices. The at least one image reproducing device has a third recording device for recording the designated image data, wherein the designated image data recorded in the third recording device can also be reproduced by the at least one reproducing device. The at least one reproducing device further has apparatus or software to designate the image data recorded in the second recording device and designate either of the first or third recording devices to copy the designated image data from the second recording device to the designated first or third recording devices. A computer readable program code means for reproducing the plurality of image data in the medical image filing system is also provided.

Each of a plurality of endoscopes of an endoscope system is provided with a non-volatile memory in which information inherent to an endoscope, such as the model and manufacturing number, is stored. By a large capacity memory device provided in a server, which is connected with the endoscope through a network, with information inherent to each endoscope, the use condition, the cleaning condition, the cleaning effective period and the like are centrally administrated. Accordingly, the use condition, the cleaning condition and the like of each endoscope used in an endoscopic examination can be confirmed so that the endoscopic examination can be performed smoothly.

An image recording apparatus which includes a time-serial image recording arrangement for recording time-serial images of an object. The apparatus also includes an outputting arrangement capable of outputting an image information data of at least a part of the time-serial images to be recorded or having been recorded by the time-serial image recording arrangement, which is used as a standard for observing variations in the time-serial images of the object which occur with lapse of time. In an image filing system in accordance with the present invention, image files containing images that should be displayed on a viewing monitor in a conference unit are selected from among retrieved image files using a mouse. A CPU determines how many image files are selected using the mouse and identifies management information contained in the selected image files. Under the control of the CPU, images in a work memory are temporarily stored in an image processor. The images in the image processor are displayed on a retrieval monitor. Management information contained in the selected image files and the number of selected image files are supplied from the CPU to a controller over a bus. Reduced images provided in the form of digital data and contained in the selected image files in the image processor are supplied to a D/A converter under the control of the controller. The D/A converter de-quantizes the digital data into analog data so as to display the reduced images on the viewing monitor.

Arranged within a measuring-light generating unit of an endoscope apparatus for three dimensional measurement, according to the invention, are measuring means, a lamp for outgoing a normal illuminating light, and a laser for outgoing a measuring light. However, a flux of light of the measuring light is extremely thin, and a spot light having minimum resolution that is a single glass fiber forming the image guide is projected onto the subject.
