An airbag and an airbag device are provided in which a posture of inflation and deployment of the airbag can be held easily and simply even if the airbag is mounted on an instrument panel having a convex portion in the space of inflation and deployment of the airbag. An airbag device includes an airbag that is folded and housed in an opening portion of an instrument panel during a normal state and is inflated and deployed on a surface of the instrument panel by gas supplied in an emergency; an inflator that supplies gas to the airbag; a retainer that holds the airbag and the inflator; and an airbag cover that covers the airbag and configures a part of the instrument panel, in which the airbag has a concave portion formed in both lower side portions when the airbag is inflated and deployed.

Airbag and airbag device

An airbag apparatus includes an airbag, a gas supplying unit configured to supply gas to the airbag to expand the airbag, a housing configured to support the airbag disposed therein, and a cover configured to cover the airbag, wherein the housing has sidewalls extending toward the cover, hooks protruding from the sidewalls, and at least one guide allocated to one of the sidewalls and situated below the hooks, wherein the cover has mount walls to which the housing is mounted, and wherein the mount walls have engagement holes formed therethrough such that a rotating movement of the cover around a lower tip of one of the mount walls while the lower tip is rested against the guide causes the hooks to be inserted into the engagement holes of the one of the mount walls.

Airbag apparatus

An airbag includes a tab that is inserted into and supported by a substantially flat-plate-shaped bracket disposed on a vehicle. The tab has a first slit extending along a direction substantially orthogonal to a direction of inflation and deployment of the airbag in plan view. The first slit allows insertion of the bracket in a normal time. The tab further has a second slit opening into a point at one end portion or on an intermediate portion of the first slit at an angle intersecting with the first slit in plan view.

Airbag and airbag apparatus

An airbag and an airbag device allowing the airbag to stably stand by itself are provided. The airbag is usually folded and embedded in an instrument panel, and in an emergency, a gas is supplied to inflate and expand the airbag between a windshield and a passenger. Also, the airbag includes a front inflation portion inflating toward a windshield side, and a back inflation portion inflating toward a passenger side. The front inflation portion includes a bottom portion pressed against a surface of the instrument panel at a time of an inflation and expansion; and a front face portion which projects to the windshield side in a projecting shape.

An airbag and an airbag device can support itself without using the reaction force from a front glass and cost reduction and commonality of components are achieved. An airbag of the present invention is normally accommodated in an instrument panel in a folded state and is inflated and deployed between a front glass and an occupant by gas being supplied thereto in an emergency. The airbag has rectification means disposed therein that controls the flow of the gas. The rectification means has a first opening through which gas is supplied such that part of the airbag on the occupant side is pressed against the instrument panel, a second opening through which gas is supplied such that the airbag is lifted upward, and a third opening through which the gas is supplied to a base end portion of the airbag on the front glass side.

An airbag apparatus to be mounted on a vehicle such as a motor vehicle includes an airbag and a gas supply device. The airbag is inflated to a rear side of a vehicle from a front side thereof in front of a vehicle passenger for protecting the passenger in case of a vehicle accident. The airbag includes a right airbag section extending vertically on a right side of the vehicle and a left airbag section extending vertically on a left side of the vehicle in the inflated state. The right or left airbag section located closer to a side portion of the vehicle has an upper edge lower than that of the left or right airbag section, so that the right or left airbag section does not interfere with the side portion.

Airbag apparatus and method of manufacturing airbag

An airbag apparatus is mounted to a front surface side of a base member of a steering wheel so as to be capable of advancing and retracting in the direction of an axial line of a steering column. A mounting strip projects upright from a back surface of a retainer of the airbag apparatus. The base member is formed with a mounting strip insertion hole, so that the retainer is connected to the base member by pushing the mounting strip into the mounting strip insertion hole and engaging the mounting strip with an engaging spring. The steering wheel and airbag apparatus is simple in structure, and has reduced weight.

The positioning of an airbag plate with respect to an inflator is achieved so as to prevent the generation of a rattle that may otherwise be caused by vibrations during vehicle travel. The bottom side of a column-shaped inflator that injects pressurized fluid is supported by a retainer. An opening edge of an airbag body is clamped between an airbag plate and the retainer when the airbag plate, which is located on the upper side of the inflator, is engaged with the retainer. The edge of the bottom opening of the airbag body is clamped between the airbag plate and the inflator. In one embodiment, shoulders, which are provided on the airbag plate, abut both ends of the inflator. In another embodiment, tongue strips, which are provided on the airbag plate, abut both ends of the inflator.
