A garment that is made including a piece of a stretchable warp-knitted fabric, wherein at least a non-elastic yarn is arranged in a 1&#xd7;1 tricot structure and an elastic yarn is arranged in a looping structure, that is cut at an angle of at least 3&#xb0; and at most 177&#xb0; with respect to the knitting direction, the piece having an edge that does not require hem finishing when left as cut, so that at least one of the edge portions of the garment is formed by an edge that does not require hem finishing when left as cut (an edge of the bottom lineor an edge of the waist line). Thus, a garment is provided, in which the portion of the edge does not become thick, the edge does not require hem finishing when the fabric is left as cut, this edge is used for the garment's edge portion, curling of the edge portion does not occur, and the edge portion fits the body.

The present invention provides stretchable warp-knitted fabric that is a 1&#xd7;1 tricot formed by running a non-elastic yarn and an elastic yarn side by side in such a manner that in each stitch, at least one of the non-elastic yarn and the elastic yarn forms a closed loop, a method for manufacturing the fabric, and stretchable clothing using the fabric at least in a part. Since a cut edge of the knitted fabric can be used as a hem of the clothing without finishing, sewing is simplified. It is possible to provide fashionable clothing that has appropriate stretchability enabling the clothing to well fit the body of the wearer, that is thin and has a beautiful texture, and that, when it is formed in underwear, has a hem line invisible through outerwear.

A garment with a figure control or muscle support function which includes a warp knit fabric having ground stitches by jacquard knitting of inelastic yarn, in which elastic yarn is further inserted and/or knitted. Portions with relatively strong and weak straining forces are formed in the warp knit fabric in predetermined places in predetermined patterns by changing the ground stitches depending on the required strength of the straining forces. There is substantially no difference in level at a boundary between the portions with strong and weak straining forces. The fabric is thus free of a problem in which a difference in level is reflected in outer wear and degrades the wearer's appearance.

This invention relates to a garment having a crotch part and the function of keeping an upward profile for the hip and buttock line comprising a main body covering at least a buttock region, and a band-shaped patch being stretchable in at least the longitudinal direction. The patch is attached to the portion from the vicinity of the back center of the lower part of a buttock obliquely upward to the side direction of the main body, wherein the part covering at least a buttock part of the main body comprises a stretchable fabric containing an elastic fiber and the stretchable patch comprises a stretchable fabric which substantially does not contain an elastic fiber. The garment of the present invention has the function of keeping an upward profile for the hip and buttock line, is comfortable to wear without making a wearer feel restricted, is excellent in following the movement of the human body and thereby free from losing its shape, and is easy to put on as the patch is not twisted easily nor get out of the desired position. The garment of the present invention is suitable as a short panty, girdle, body suit, swim suit, leotard, tights, or the like.
