A steering system configured to steer a vehicle includes a rotary shaft to which an operation member is coupled; a moving unit configured to move the operation member between a normal position that is a position where the operation member is operated by a driver, and a storage area located ahead of the normal position; an external force detection unit configured to detect an external force externally applied to the operation member while the operation member is moving; a determination unit configured to determine whether a direction of the external force detected by the external force detection unit is the same as a moving direction of the operation member; and a control unit configured to control operation of the steering system based on a determination result from the determination unit.

Steering system

A steering system includes: a variable mechanism that reversibly changes a configuration of an operating member between a configuration for automated driving and a configuration for manual driving, the configuration including at least one of a position, an orientation, and a shape; a variable drive source; a receiver that receives an operation of a driver; and a controller that controls the variable drive source to cause the variable mechanism to return the configuration of the operating member to the configuration for manual driving, when the receiver receives the operation of the driver in a period when the configuration of the operating member is being changed.

A steering device includes: a first moving unit that moves in an axial direction along with a shaft member to which an operating member is connected; a second moving unit; a holding unit; a first screw mechanism; a second screw mechanism; a driving unit; and a transmission mechanism that transmits driving force of the driving unit to the first screw mechanism and the second screw mechanism. One of the first screw mechanism and the second screw mechanism is provided so as to operate in a forward direction when the operating member moves between a retraction region and an operation region, and reverse efficiency of that one screw mechanism is set such that when the operating member is subjected to an external force directed toward the retraction region, that one screw mechanism does not operate in a reverse direction.

Steering device

A steering apparatus for use in steering a vehicle includes: a movable body to which an input device is attached, the movable body configured to move back and forth in an extend-retract direction between a first position closer to the front of the vehicle and a second position closer to the driver; an intermediate guide that guides the movable body in the extend-retract direction, and moves back and forth in the extend-retract direction; a base guide that is attached to the vehicle and guides the intermediate guide in the extend-retract direction; a first extend-retract mechanism including an extend-retract drive source that causes the intermediate guide to move back and forth relative to the base guide; and a second extend-retract mechanism that causes the movable body to move back and forth relative to the intermediate guide by using driving force of the extend-retract drive source.

Steering apparatus

A steering apparatus includes a steering wheel that rotates about a first rotation axis, a folding mechanism that folds the steering wheel along the first rotation axis, a moving mechanism that moves the steering wheel between a protruding position in which the steering wheel protrudes from a dashboard of the vehicle and a stored position closer to the dashboard than the protruding position, and an electronic control unit that drives the folding mechanism and the moving mechanism. When the folded steering wheel is moved from the protruding position to the stored position, the electronic control unit drives, in advance, a drive member mounted on the vehicle so that the steering wheel is retracted relative to a body of a driver.
