An optical waveguide device includes a substrate on which an optical waveguide is formed, and an object that is disposed on the substrate. The optical waveguide includes a mode conversion/branching portion that converts a mode of a light wave propagating through the optical waveguide and branches the light wave, and the object is disposed to cover a part or the whole of the mode conversion/branching portion or not to cover the mode conversion/branching portion when the substrate is viewed in a plan view. In a case where the object is disposed to cover a part of the mode conversion/branching portion, the object is disposed not to consecutively cover a section over a length of a predetermined value or higher in an advancing direction of a light wave.

A transmission line has a signal electrode formed on one surface of a flexible printed circuit, and a ground electrode formed on the other surface of the flexible printed circuit. A connection terminal has signal terminals formed on both the surfaces of the flexible printed circuit and electrically connected to each other through a via hole, and ground terminals formed on both the surfaces of the flexible printed circuit and electrically connected to each other through the via hole. The signal terminal on the surface, on which the ground electrode is formed, is formed such that at least a width in an end portion on the transmission line side is narrower than a width of a part of the signal terminal on the surface, on which the signal electrode is formed, to be at the same position when the flexible printed circuit is seen in a plan view.

Flexible printed circuit and optical device

An optical module in which an optical element is housed in a housing includes: an optical window member through which input light to the optical element or output light from the optical element passes and which hermetically seals inside of the housing; and a holding member that holds the optical window member. The optical window member is fixed to the housing by the holding member. A difference between linear expansion coefficients of the holding member and the optical window member is smaller than a difference between linear expansion coefficients of the housing and the optical window member. A position where the optical window member is attached on the holding member protrudes to an optical element side from a position where the holding member itself is fixed.

A communication device includes: a first subscriber identification unit that stores first subscriber identification unit identification information associated with user identification information; and a communication unit that communicates with another communication device, the other communication device including a second subscriber identification unit that stores second subscriber identification unit identification information associated with user identification information. The first subscriber identification unit includes: a key memory unit that records a pair of a public key certificate and a secret key, the pair being shared with the second subscriber identification unit; a public key certificate generation unit that generates, using the secret key recorded in the key memory unit, a 'first public key certificate comprising the first subscriber identification unit identification information or the user identification information associated with the first subscriber identification unit identification information'; and a secret key memory unit that records a secret key paired with the first public key certificate.

Communication device, communication method and computer program

An optical communication module includes: an optical modulator that includes an optical modulation element housed in a rectangular parallelepiped container; a driver circuit that inputs a high-frequency signal to the optical modulation element; and a housing that houses the optical modulator and the driver circuit. An electrical interface is provided on one lateral surface of the housing, and an optical interface is provided on another lateral surface, which is opposite to the lateral surface, of the housing. In the optical modulator, an end of a wiring substrate, which is configured to introduce the high-frequency signal to the optical modulation element, is led out from one short-side side of the rectangular parallelepiped container, and the driver circuit is disposed between the short-side side of the optical modulator and the electrical interface.

Optical communication module and optical modulator used therein

An optical modulator is provided and includes a substrate that has an electro-optic effect, an optical waveguide that is formed on the substrate, a plurality of control electrodes that control a light wave propagated through the optical waveguide, and a plurality of light receiving elements that detect a light wave propagated through the optical waveguide. The optical modulator has two or more independent optical waveguide modulation portions. The light receiving elements are respectively provided in an upper part of the substrate with respect to the independent optical waveguide modulation portions. A wiring substrate is located above the substrate. A plurality of electric wirings are located on the wiring substrate. The plurality of electric wirings are disposed to extend in the vicinity of one side of the wiring substrate, are electrically connected to the light receiving elements, and output a signal detected by the light receiving elements to the outside.

Optical modulator

An optical modulator including an optical modulation element mounted inside a housing, in which at least a portion of an electric line is connected to an external circuit board through a flexible printed circuit, and which is disposed on the external circuit board. A recess portion that mounts the flexible printed circuit is formed on an outer bottom surface of the housing and at a part where the flexible printed circuit is connected, and a device for preventing a resonance mode is provided such that a resonance mode of a microwave and a millimeter wave or a parallel plate mode is prevented from being generated among a surface A of the recess portion facing the flexible printed circuit, an electric wiring part B provided on the flexible printed circuit overlapping the surface A when seen in a plan view, an electric wiring part C provided on the external circuit board overlapping the surface A when seen in a plan view.

Provided is an optical modulator in which a phenomenon of a resonance mode or the like is prevented from being generated in a recess portion of a housing that mounts a flexible printed circuit and of which broadband characteristics are improved. There is provided an optical modulator in which an optical modulation element is mounted inside a housing, in which at least a portion of an electric line is connected to an external circuit boardthrough a flexible printed circuit, and which is disposed on the external circuit board. A recess portion (area indicated with a dotted line D) that mounts the flexible printed circuit is formed on an outer bottom surface of the housing and at a part where the flexible printed circuit is connected, and means for preventing a resonance mode or the like (for example, a corrugated shape) is provided such that a resonance mode of a microwave and a millimeter wave or a parallel plate mode is prevented from being generated among a surface A of the recess portion facing the flexible printed circuit, an electric wiring part B provided on the flexible printed circuit overlapping the surface A when seen in a plan view, an electric wiring part C provided on the external circuit board overlapping the surface A when seen in a plan view.

There is provided an optical control element module including: an optical control element having an optical waveguide and a control electrode on a substrate and disposed in a housing; an electrical connection part which is electrically connected to the control electrode, extends along a direction intersecting a plane on which the control electrode of the substrate is disposed, and is disposed in the housing; and a wiring substrate which has an input signal line electrically connected to the electrical connection part, at least a part of which is disposed outside the housing, in which impedance of the electrical connection part is set to be smaller than impedance of the input signal line.

Optical control element module

An optical modulator includes: an optical modulation element which is accommodated in a housing and has a signal electrode; a lead pin for inputting a high-frequency signal; a relay substrate in which a conductor pattern which electrically connects the lead pin and the signal electrode is formed; and a conductive extension portion which extends along a length direction of the lead pin in a range which includes at least a position of a connection portion between the lead pin and the conductor pattern, in which the extension portion is electrically connected to the housing.

FPC-attached optical modulator and optical transmission apparatus using same

Provided is an optical modulator in which low-voltage drive and a stable modulation characteristic are secured over a wide bandwidth. An optical modulator includes: a substratean optical waveguide (not shown) formed in the substratea modulation electrode (a signal electrodeand a ground electrode) for modulating light waves propagating through the optical waveguide; and an external signal line (not shown, only a connection connectoris shown) which is provided outside the substrate and supplies a modulation signal to the modulation electrode, in which an impedance value of the modulation electrode in an active region S in which an electric field formed by the modulation electrode is applied to the optical waveguide is set to be lower than an impedance value of the external signal line, and an impedance adjustment parthaving an impedance adjustment function with respect to mainly a modulation signal in a low-frequency area and configured of a lumped-constant circuit, and an impedance matching line L having an impedance adjustment function with respect to mainly a modulation signal in a high-frequency area are disposed between the external signal line and the active region of the modulation electrode.

An optical device includes a connection pad, which is connected to a conductor pattern on the circuit substrate, at one edge. The connection pad includes one ground pad, and two or more signal pads between which the ground pad is interposed from its both sides. The ground pad includes a concave portion including an opening at the edge. The circuit substrate is provided with a metal columnar member in the conductor pattern to which the ground pad is connected. The conductor pattern and the connection pad are fixed to each other with solder in a state in which the columnar member is fitted into the concave portion. Solder, which gradually rises from the ground pattern to a lateral surface of the columnar member, is formed between the columnar member and the ground pattern that is formed in the flexible printed circuit.

Connection structure between optical device and circuit substrate, and optical transmission apparatus using the same

Provided is an optical modulator in which even in a case where an optical waveguide and a control electrode are highly integrated, a distortion due to stress acting on the optical waveguide from lead-out wiring of a signal electrode is mitigated and occurrence of a temperature drift or the like is suppressed. An optical modulator includes: a substratehaving an electro-optic effect; optical waveguides (Lto L), each of which is formed on the substrate and provided with at least one Mach-Zehnder type optical waveguide; and a control electrode which controls light waves propagating through the optical waveguides, in which the control electrode is configured of signal electrodes (Sand S) and ground electrodes (Gto G), each of the signal electrodes being provided with a pad part (SP or SP) for input or output, which is electrically connected to an electric circuit which is provided outside the substrate, an interaction part (indicated by arrow R) which applies an electric field to the optical waveguide, and a lead-out wiring part which connects the pad part and the interaction part to each other, a portion of the lead-out wiring part is disposed parallel to an extended direction (a lateral direction in) of the Mach-Zehnder type optical waveguide within a range (indicated by arrow R) in which two branching waveguides configuring the Mach-Zehnder type optical waveguide are present in the extended direction, and any one of a portion of the interaction part, another portion of the lead-out wiring part, and a stress relaxation structure of the ground electrode is formed at a position which is axially symmetrical to the portion of the lead-out wiring part with respect to a centrosymmetric axis in the extended direction of the Mach-Zehnder type optical waveguide.

An optical waveguide element module decreases discontinuity of electrical connection between an optical waveguide element and a relay substrate, without wire-bonding using long wires. An edge shape L of the signal electrode side of the ground electrode is surrounded by two shapes (L, L). Shape Lis obtained by connecting an input end of the control electrode to a location where a space between the ground electrodes becomes W. Shape Lis such that an impedance change of the control electrode from the input end to the location at which the space between the ground electrodes becomes Wis constant or continuously changes. A space between grounding wires connecting the ground electrodes of the element and ground lines of the relay substrate is larger than a space between the ground electrodes. In an embodiment, a terminal substrate and an output end of the control electrode are connected.
