The invention provides a peroxide crosslinkable rubber composition including a hydrogenated nitrile rubber that is enhanced in scorch stability without deterioration in superior characteristics of crosslinked products of the composition. The invention also provides a crosslinked product of such a rubber composition. The rubber composition includes 100 parts by mass of a hydrogenated nitrile rubber (A), 5 to 100 parts by mass of a filler (B), 1 to 10 parts by mass of an organic peroxide (C), and 1 to 20 parts by mass of a liquid diene rubber (D) having a polystyrene-equivalent weight average molecular weight of 3,000 to 120,000 as measured by gel permeation chromatography (GPC).

Rubber compositions

A PMR (perpendicular magnetic recording) write head includes a main write pole (MP) that is surrounded by magnetic shields, including laterally disposed side shields (SS), a trailing shield (TS) and a leading shield (LS). The leading shield includes a leading-edge taper (LET) that conformally abuts a tapered side of the write pole. The leading-edge shield and the leading-edge taper can be independently recessed in a proximal direction away from an air bearing surface (ABS) plane so that one or the other of them is recessed and the other remains coplanar with the ABS, or both are recessed by independent amounts. In another configuration the LS is not planar but has a recessed portion in a center track region and two surrounding regions that are coplanar with the ABS plane.

A magnetic head includes a main pole and a write shield. The write shield includes a bottom shield, a first side shield and a second side shield. The first side shield has first and second sidewalls. The second side shield has third and fourth sidewalls. Each of the second and fourth sidewalls has a top edge farthest from a top surface of a substrate. The top edge of each of the second and fourth sidewalls is parallel to a medium facing surface. A portion of a top surface of the bottom shield, the first sidewall, and the third sidewall define a receiving section to receive a portion of the main pole. The receiving section has a bottom including a first inclined portion, a second inclined portion, and a third inclined portion.

The present invention provides a rubber composition capable of producing a rubber molded article that is excellent in rolling resistance performance, steering stability, mechanical strength and abrasion resistance, and a tire obtained by using the rubber composition in at least a part thereof. The present invention relates to a rubber composition including (A) a rubber component including at least one rubber selected from the group consisting of a synthetic rubber and a natural rubber, (B) silica and (C) a modified polymer of farnesene obtained by introducing a functional group into a polymer of farnesene, in which a content of the silica (B) in the rubber composition is from 20 to 150 parts by mass on the basis of 100 parts by mass of the rubber component (A), and a content of the modified farnesene polymer (C) in the rubber composition is from 2 to 10 parts by mass on the basis of 100 parts by mass of the silica (B).

A PMR writer is disclosed with an all wrap around (AWA) shield design in which one or more of the leading shield, lead edge taper (LET), and side shields are comprised of a low moment high damping (LMHD) magnetic material having a damping constant &#x2265;0.04 and a magnetic flux density (Bs) from 1 kilogauss (kG) to 8 kG. The LMHD magnetic material may be FeNiM, FeCoM, FeNM, or FeCoNiM where M is a 3d, 4d, or 5d transition metal. The LET layer has a tapered side adjoining the leading gap and with a thickness that decreases to zero at height hof 50 nm to 500 nm from the air bearing surface. The leading shield also has a backside at h. Wide adjacent track erasure is minimized while area density capability is enhanced compared with conventional shields with Bs from 10-19 kG.

High damping shield with low magnetic moment in perpendicular magnetic recording (PMR) writer

A PMR writer is disclosed with a leading shield in which a lower (LS2) layer, a middle LS1 layer, and an upper leading edge taper (LET) layer have a damping parameter&#x2265;0.04, and extend from an air bearing surface (ABS) to a first height (h1) from the ABS. The LS2 layer has a notch filled with dielectric material at the air bearing surface (ABS) that extends to a height&#x2264;h1, or may be completely replaced with dielectric material. Two notch front sides each form an angle &#x3b2; with the LS1 bottom surface, and two notch inner sides between the ABS and LS2 backside form angle &#x3b4; with the ABS where each of &#x3b2; and &#x3b4; is from 10 degrees to 170 degrees. Accordingly, bits per square inch performance is improved while substantially maintaining tracks per square inch capability for an overall gain in area density capability.

Optimization of high damping shield geometry in perpendicular magnetic recording (PMR) writer

There are provided a modified liquid diene rubber that can be used for a curable resin composition and a resin composition containing the modified liquid diene rubber. The curable resin composition containing the modified liquid diene rubber has a much higher curing rate than that in the related art, and the resulting cured product has excellent mechanical properties, transparency, and heat resistance. Produced are a modified liquid diene rubber and a resin composition containing the modified liquid diene rubber. The modified liquid diene rubber includes a modifying group (p) partly containing a (meth)acryloyl group therein and a monomer unit (a) derived from a conjugated diene compound. A carbon-carbon double bond derived from the conjugated diene compound has a hydrogenation rate of 30 to 95 mol %, and the modifying group (p) has a functional group equivalent weight of 700 to 20,000 g/eq.

Modified liquid diene rubber and resin composition containing modified liquid diene rubber

[Object] The invention provides rubber compositions having excellent filler dispersibility, crosslinked products having excellent properties such as abrasion resistance, and tires that exhibit enhanced rolling resistance performance and attain simultaneous enhancements in steering stability and ice grip performance by virtue of using the compositions or the crosslinked products in portions of the tires. [Solution] The rubber composition includes 100 parts by mass of a solid rubber (A), 0.1 to 10 parts by mass of a modified liquid diene rubber (B) that is obtained by adding a modifying agent to an unmodified liquid diene rubber (B') and has functional groups derived from the modifying agent, and 20 to 150 parts by mass of a filler (C). The modified liquid diene rubber (B) satisfies the following (i) to (iv): (i) the content of butadiene units is not less than 50 mass % relative to the total of all monomer units, (ii) the weight average molecular weight (Mw) is 25,000 to 120,000, (iii) the amount of the modifying agent added is 3 to 40 parts by mass per 100 parts by mass of the unmodified liquid diene rubber (B&#x2032;), and (iv) the average number of functional groups per molecule of the modified liquid diene rubber (B) is 5 to 80.

A perpendicular magnetic recording writer is disclosed wherein a first trailing shield (HMTS) layer has a down-track (DT) thickness d in portions thereof proximate to a center plane that bisects the main pole tip trailing side to enable enhanced trailing shield return field at track center thereby improving bits per inch (BPI) capability. The second winding portion does not pass through the first space, and extends less than once around the entire perimeter of the core section to rotate n degrees about a center point of the core section, where n is greater than 270 and smaller than 360.
